Precisely!!! First of all, Shikhandini wasn't the one who failed to protect Panchala - it was her brothers Satrajit & Vikra. If Drupada was disappointed in anyone, it was probably w/ them.

Then Shikhandini didn't do her sex change due to this defeat. She did it after her marriage to a princess, when that princess on her wedding night discovered that her husband was another woman. She reported that to her father, who was about to wage war on Drupada. Grief stricken @ causing her father this trouble, Shikandini went away, wanting to end her life, but the yaksha came and swapped sexes w/ her, and he returned as Shikhandi, and war was averted.

Actually Shikhandi is no where present during his/ her father's capture by Arjuna. The fight on the Panchala side was led by Drupada himself assisted by Satyajit (probably his brother) who was the army general.

Shikhandi does not enter the picture right now. And even after the sex change operation, he is continued to be called a half man (ardha-purush).

Hmm really.. that's unfair.. But I see that none other than her parents knew the secret.. Then who called her so? Vyas? or after Bheeshm's death people came to know and spoke thus?

I also had this question.. Why did Drupada penance for a son to slay Bheeshm? It can be for the unheard request of Amba but am not sure..

Just one. Chakra vyuha would have been like a giant circle- and within that outer circle, there would be several concentric or spiraling circles. That's why penetrating it was considered difficult.

Because even if a breach was made, it would have been easy to re- seal the breach (thanks to the spiraling circles)

There are many other vyuhas- like the Vajra- vyuha, Shakata- vyuha , Kurma- vyuha, Krauncha - vyuha.

Chakra is one of the vyuhas.

It was employed just once in MB - on Day 13.

Drupada would not have had either the knowledge or the required man power to form a chakravyuha during the Pandavas' assault on Panchala.
