Part 18
All night the thoughts of RK with another girl did not let Madhu sleep. She had checked the details of the images, which proved that they were they were taken just moments before they were sent to her. She sat up on her bed leaning against the headboard, staring in space and looking miserable. He said he wanted time but it looked like he had already thrown her out of his life completely. A lone tear escaped from her eye and rolled down her cheek. It had been a long time since Madhu last cried. She had stopped crying about what people said about her years back. She had promised herself that she would not get weak and cry instead she would give it back to others in her own way. Now the feeling of losing her love had broken her again. But then she was Madhu. She would not break down this easily. She quickly wiped away her tear and got out of her bed. She had learnt how to put herself together again. Madhu walked over to her dressing table and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She decided she would not cry now. She would get even with everyone but this time she would not lie or deceive anyone. Now she would do something that she had never done. Madhu looked at herself in the mirror with determination. She then walked back to her bed and grabbed her phone from the bedside table.
Trishna was calling Annie since a long time but she was not answering. She got a bit worried that she was deliberately ignoring her calls. She then called Karan to ask his mother's number but he did not answer either. What if she was being cheated on? No! Irene Oberoi was not like that. She was known to be a very honest woman. Trishna slumped down on her bed hoping that whatever she did would be worth it.
Annie was strutting around her mansion in a very bad mood. She could not believe it that RK left a hot girl like her all alone. He had shattered all her dreams. Now she wondered if he really was man. She stopped in the hall as the thought freaked her out. Is that why he was engaged to that ugly girl? No, that was not possible, she consoled herself. Maybe he was just shy. He had even told her that he belonged to a conservative family. Oh well he would not be able to resist her for long. She would continue on her mission. Annie then remembered she was getting late for college. She then walked out of her mansion and jumped inside her car. The driver pulled away but she told him to stop at the gates. She opened her window and called one of the guards at the gate.
"Yes ma'am," the guard said.
"If a girl called Trishna comes here then don't let her in," she ordered. "OK?"
"OK ma'am."
"Madhu," Padmini called late that evening when she saw Madhu returning home late. "Where were you? You said you were going to the market but you took so long? And why did you not answer my calls?"
"Relax mom I will tell you everything later," Madhu said calming her mother down. "Where's dad?"
"He has an important meeting so he will be late too," Padmini replied and then became sad. "He's really upset about what happened."
"You told him everything?" Madhu asked nervously.
"Yes he asked me why I was upset and I couldn't lie because you know one lie spoils everything so I told him every single thing," Padmini said like she had done something really big. "He does not even want to see Trishna's face now."
"Where is she?"
"Who? Trishna? I don't know and I don't care."
"Mom-"
"There she is," Padmini said pointing at the door looking sour.
Madhu turned to find Trishna entering with a sad face. She wondered what was wrong with her. Trishna rushed past her, heading off to her room. She had gone to Oberoi Mansion but the guards had rudely told her to leave. Everyone appeared to be against her.
"I wonder what happened to her now," Padmini asked irritably and Madhu shrugged.
At Oberoi Mansion, Irene was seated in the hall with her husband and her son, discussing her film as she had got some new ideas. While she looked enthusiastic, Raj and Karan were clearly bored.
"What is the point mom?" Karan asked his mother. "You scrapped this film, didn't you?"
"Karan is right I don't see the point of any further discussion," Raj agreed. "You said you won't make this film without Madhu and she said no."
"Don't worry about that I'm holding auditions again. I will find another girl," Irene said but Raj doubted she would choose another heroine anytime soon.
"Can you not cast Sarina opposite me?" Karan asked hopefully.
"No Karan and don't even ask me again."
"OK mom but please don't choose someone like my friend's sister this time-"
"I'm not casting her Karan so no need to say anything about her," Irene said firmly. "So where was I ... yeah so I think we should introduce a third person ... another man in the heroine's life?"
"Why not another girl in my life?" Karan suggested but fell silent by the annoyed look Irene gave him. "Well I'm not for a love triangle."
"It's the demand of the script," Irene explained. "I showed you both that boy RK's picture. I think he will be suitable for this role."
"But I think he is too handsome for this role," Raj said at once.
"Dad is right mom," Karan agreed with his father.
Annie was lurking around a corner listening to their conversation. She had stopped to overhear them as soon as she heard RK's name and became excited to learn that her mother was considering him to act in her film. How would he get away from her now?
"Hello," RK answered a call he received the next day at lunch in his office.
"Is that Rishabh Kundra?" A girl asked.
"Yes," he replied.
"Oh hello Mr Kundra this is Dipali, Irene Oberoi's personal assistant," Dipali introduced herself nicely. "You must have heard about Irene Oberoi?"
"Yeah," he said confused. Was he not hearing too much about the Oberois nowadays?
"That's great," Dipali said brightly. "Well Irene ma'am wishes to meet you. So when will you be free? I can book you an appointment now."
"Why?" RK asked with concern hoping it was not something to do with Annie.
"Have you ever considered acting?"
"What?" He asked shocked. "No."
"Actually Irene ma'am wishes to cast you for an important role in her upcoming film. I don't know how that sounds to you but this is a very good opportunity to get recognised in the film industry-"
"I know that but sorry I'm not interested. I am very happy with what I am doing now thanks."
"Look Mr Kundra it's-"
"I have an important meeting now so can you please call me later?"
"Oh sure."
RK put his phone down thinking whether he had done the right thing. He had never thought of acting before. He felt was better off doing business.
Throughout the next few days, RK was quite occupied by work that he did not think much about his personal life. He also received a number of calls from Dipali trying to convince him to take up Irene's offer. It was not Dipali's choice to badger RK but she was ordered to do this by Annie, who felt she would be able to boss him about if he was working under his mother.
"OK then can you please come to the studio tomorrow night?" Dipali asked RK one day. "I will promise I will leave it to you to decide just come to the studio and meet Irene ma'am once. She has finally selected the heroine for her movie and we will be having a bit of a party. Please come. Please."
"OK fine I will come," he finally said thinking at least she would stop bothering him this way. He then checked his diary and found out he did have some spare time. RK also considered acting for a moment and then looked back at the piles of papers on his desk.
"Good," Annie said standing opposite Dipali as she cut the call. She had told Dipali to invite RK to the studio tomorrow so that she could meet him. All her family was going to be present at the studio as her mother was going to introduce the heroine she had found.
The day which Irene Oberoi had been waiting for since ages had finally arrived. She was at the studio with the cast and crew of her film and everyone was eagerly waiting for the heroine. Finally she was able to start filming the love story that people would remember for years. Karan was busy in conversation with Raj when Sarina arrived and he got distracted. Trishna entered the studio looking around the place excitedly. She was over the moon since she received the phone call in which she was told to come to the studio as Irene ma'am wanted to introduce the heroine. Annie, who was strolling around the place bossing people about spotted Trishna and turned away from her. She wondered what the fool would do when she would find out she's not the heroine. At that point, RK arrived and began searching around the place for Irene. His eyes fell on Trishna and wondered what she was doing here. Trishna started to feel a bit left out. Nobody seemed to be giving her any importance. She was the heroine. She then walked over to RK and greeted him with embarrassment but he did not speak to her. He was probably still angry that she had called him to meet Annie. Someone when then entered the studio, shocking both RK and Trishna. It was Mukund. He noticed them too and walked straight over to them with a sly smile.
"What are you doing here?" Trishna asked at once.
"I am a part of this film," Mukund announced with pride.
"What?" She asked taken aback.
"Yes," he said firmly. "I gave an audition and got a role."
"I can't believe it," Trishna said and then thought maybe it was the role of a servant. If only her sister was given the role of his wife, she thought and suppressed a giggle. "Well I'm the heroine of this film."
"I can't believe it either," he said in response and she was a bit irked.
RK, who had no interest in both of them walked away from them. Annie soon spotted him and rushed straight over to him.
"Hey," she said with a wide smile.
Oh no not her, he thought.
Irene checked her watch and wondered why they were not here yet. She then saw Dipali, who hurried over to her.
"What took you so long?" Irene asked.
"She got really nervous again ma'am and she was refusing to come here but I somehow convinced her," Dipali explained.
"Is she ready?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Good," Irene said and she walked over to the raised platform. "OK everyone our wait is over. She is here."
The lights turned off and a spotlight came on the stage. Everyone turned their attention to the stage and waited excitedly.
"Who is Irene ma'am talking about?" Trishna asked a crew member standing near here.
"The heroine who else?" The girl replied.
"But that's me," Trishna said confused.
"Nice joke."
A figure appeared on the stage and Irene smiled. The figure began moving towards the audience and the spotlight fell on her to reveal a strikingly beautiful woman. The flashes of camera welcomed her from all directions. She was clad in a designer suit with matching heels. She was adorned with silver jewellery that sparkled in the dark. Her long dark curls fell to her sides. The minimal makeup enhanced her beautiful features. All eyes were fixed on her gorgeous face while her eyes roamed around the studio before setting on RK, who was gazing at her as though enchanted. She looked stunning, he thought. He had never seen a more beautiful girl in his life. As she looked into his eyes he felt he knew her. The more he stared at her the more familiar she became. It did not take him long to guess she was none other than the girl he loved. She was Madhu.
tu itni khoobsurat hai
fida deedaar pe tere
Irene looked at Madhu happily. She was proud of her choice. She had not told her husband and son that she had signed Madhu that day when she was discussing the film with them because she could not stand them looking down on her choice. So she had decided she would let them see for themself what gem she had found.
tu itni khoobsurat hai
fida deedaar pe tere
muqammal ishq ho mera
zara sa pyaar toh de de
Standing next to RK, Annie was a bit irked to find him eyeing the heroine like a despo and became jealous. He never got affected by her this way. Over at another corner, Trishna watched the heroine with pain. If this girl was the heroine then who was she? She felt so betrayed. How could Irene ma'am do this to her? She also felt jealous of the heroine's beauty like Annie while Mukund at her side, gaped at Madhu.

haseen lamhaat woh de de
tere sang bheeg jaaun main
kabhi barsaat woh de de
tere bina jeena pade
woh pal mujhe naa de
Madhu continued to walk gracefully as she looked at Irene Oberoi and smiled at her. She was grateful to this lady, who had brought her to this stage. The morning after she had seen RK's pictures with Annie, she had called Irene and told her she wanted to do her film and Irene was elated. She had instantly fixed a meeting with Madhu and took a start on making her a heroine. She had given Madhu the confidence that she was standing here in front of all these people. Madhu had decided she wanted to become someone, who everyone would love and admire. RK then began walking towards Madhu as if in a trance.
tu itni khoobsurat hai
fida deedaar pe tere
Karan strode passed RK and reached Madhu before him. He extended his hand towards her with a smile as she reached the edge of the stage. RK looked at Karan irritably feeling like he had taken his place. Madhu glanced at RK and Annie, who had hurried after him and then placed her hand into Karan's hand. He helped her down like a gentleman and was unable to take his eyes off her, which made RK uncomfortable.
