Part 15
"You will have to break RK up with your sister and set him with me," Annie said bossily.
"What?" Trishna asked taken aback.
"Don't you understand English dumbo?" Annie said rudely.
"How can you even think that I will do this?"
"Because you were acting so desperate at my party to get noticed."
"You are the one acting desperate Annie."
"You're such an ungrateful cow," Annie said with disbelief. "I'm giving you such a big offer and you're being so rude to me in return of my generosity?"
"You are telling me to break my sister up with RK!" Trishna exclaimed.
"And I am making you a heroine for doing that," Annie said like she was doing the biggest favour in return.
"I can't do this!"
"Look stupid woman I am going to break them up anyway even if you don't help. But if you do it for me then you will be rewarded," Annie said. "You can go and give a million auditions for all I care but you will NEVER get a chance like this with a face like yours. However, if you do this small job for me then you will get this big role. You will get to work as lead opposite my bro. Sure you're a bit ugly but my mom will never say no to me-"
Trishna ended the call feeling highly insulted. This girl Annie did not know how to talk with anyone. What did she think of herself? Trishna was really hurt. Nobody ever made her feel so bad about herself before.
Annie was offended that Trishna had cut the phone on her. What an arrogant girl she was, Annie thought to herself. Maybe she would have to do something herself. She was hoping someone else would break them up instead because she did not want to have a bad image in front of RK. Her phone began ringing and she saw it was Prince. Should she talk to him now? Yes, she thought. After all he was a prince and her ultimate goal in life was to marry a prince and officially become a princess. She would continue to chat with him on the phone until she finished college and when she was done with dating she would meet him and get married to him. Annie smiled thinking about her plan and answered the call.
"I miss you already," RK said on the phone to Madhu that night.
"I miss you too RK," Madhu smiled as she lied on her bed.
"You made me so used to you and then you left me," RK complained. "I have told mom I can't wait any longer so she will be coming to your house to fix the date of our wedding."
"I still don't believe it that we are together," she said. "You have accepted me the way I am."
"Why what is wrong with you?" He asked sounding offended.
"You know I'm not like other girls," she said trying to sound casual.
"You're right you're not like other girls," RK said flatly and she became anxious. "You are way better than them Madhu."
She then smiled with happiness. Her love and respect for him was increasing day by day.
"You are beautiful in your simplicity and the fact that you have a beautiful heart makes you even more beautiful," he told her.
Madhu was happy but then became serious. She could not believe her dream was coming true but for some reason she felt a bit weird today. She feared something bad was going to happen. Madhu was not used to so much good happening in her life so she was scared of her own happiness.
"RK you will never leave me will you?" She asked with emotion.
"Don't be silly Madhu," he said concerned by her tone. "I love you and I will never leave you."
"Even if I make a mistake?"
"You're so nice; you can never make a mistake."
"But still RK I'm human I can make mistakes but it doesn't change the fact that I love you."
"I love you Madhu and do you think I will leave you because of some mistake? Our love is not so weak," he said with love.
Madhu was at peace to hear his sweet words and they continued to chat for the most of the night, planning their future together. On the other hand, Trishna could not sleep that night. She tossed and turned in bed thinking about what Annie said. Annie was true to some extent, Trishna thought anxiously. She would probably never get the chance to debut opposite Karan in a film made by Irene and her husband. It was a golden opportunity and she could not miss it. But then what if Annie was fooling her? She could not trust Annie at all. And even if Annie was being honest then could she do this with her sister? It's true that she still did not like Madhu much and found her irritating but she was her sister. But then again had Madhu not spoiled everything for her all the time? Had she not always backstabbed her? Could she not do the same this time?
Next morning, Madhu entered the kitchen where her mother was preparing breakfast and looked a bit ashamed. She was unable to face her parents now that they knew her truth. She looked at her mother whose cheeks were wet with tears.
"Why are you crying mom?" Madhu asked worried.
"Well what else do you expect? I have been crying every day since you left," Padmini said fed up.
"I know I'm such a bad daughter," Madhu said with guilt and was touched to know that her mother had been crying for her.
"After you left, I have to chop onions myself daily," Padmini said not listening to her as she pointed to the chopping board.
Madhu's mouth fell open as she looked what her mother doing. She was chopping onions and that was why she was in tears. What was Madhu thinking? Her mother was not one of the emotional types.
"I'll do that mom," she offered.
"Its fine Madhu once you get married I have to do all this myself," Padmini said at once. "And anyway you don't have to do all this to be in my good books. I still love you the way you are that's why I persuaded Mallik to bring you back."
"I'm sorry mom I know I have hurt you and dad a lot," Madhu said sadly, feeling guilty again and her mother stopped and looked at her. "I wish I could show you that I'm no longer the fake person I was. RK's love has changed me."
"You know Madhu when Radhaji told me how you looked after her and her house I thought you were probably doing it to show her you are an ideal daughter in law," Padmini told her with honesty. "But today I can see the truth in your eyes. Love has definitely changed you."
Padmini smiled at her daughter and Madhu went and hugged her.
RK was getting ready to go to office when his phone began ringing. He stopped combing his hair and reached his phone to find an unknown caller.
"Hello," he greeted while going back to the mirror.
"Hey handsome," Annie said nicely.
"Who is this?" RK asked frowning.
"Annie."
"Where did you get my number from?" He asked confused.
"It's not so hard for me to get someone's number."
RK wondered why she had called him. She did not give him good vibes. She seemed to be just like her flirt brother.
"I tried calling you last night but your phone was busy for like hours," she sweetly complained.
"I was talking to my fiancee," he said firmly, indicating his status on purpose.
"Oh," she said feeling jealous but composed herself. "You are engaged? That's wonderful."
"Yes," RK said.
Her positive behaviour removed the doubt from his heart that she was probably interested in him.
"I actually called to apologize for my behaviour last night," she said sounding sorry. "I was just upset that you pushed me when I was just going to give you a friendly hug. You came to my birthday party so I didn't consider you a stranger anymore."
"It's fine even I am sorry for pushing you. I just didn't want my fiancee to see you hugging me like that."
"Doesn't your girlfriend trust you?"
"It's not like that," he said. "It's just that we're both brought up in conservative families."
"Oh right."
"I'm getting late for office now. I'll talk to you again."
"OK bye RK."
"Bye Annie."
Annie ended the call with an evil smile on her face. Soon that girl would be known as your ex fiance, she thought.
"I'm ready I will do it," Trishna said firmly on the phone to Annie. She had realised that her dreams were more important to her than her sister's happiness. Maybe once she signed the contract she would try to get them back together but even if they did not then it would not be the end of the world. Everyone had break ups it was not a big deal.
"Good," Annie said satisfied. "Then get started."
"Wait a minute Annie. How do I believe that you will not deceive me after you get what you want? What if I separate them but never get the role you promised me?"
Annie was irked. That was exactly what she had been thinking of doing but this idiot had guessed it.
"Well I'm not going to get you the role before you do my job," Annie said. "You could deceive me too after signing the film contract."
"Then I want your mother herself to say that she will give me this role and then I will do your job," Trishna said, feeling that she could trust Irene Oberoi's word. From what she had heard from Karan about his mother, she knew that if she said it she would mean it."
Annie mentally cursed Trishna. How on earth was she going to make her mother sign Trishna for her dream project? It was impossible.
"Let me tell you that I can separate RK and Madhu in minutes because I have some information about Madhu that will make RK leave her," Trishna told her looking at the folded piece of paper in her hand, which made Annie more eager.
"OK fine I'll get mom to call you," Annie quickly said and ended the call.
It was late evening when Annie strutted over to the hall where her mother was enjoying her tea with a magazine.
"Mom you know today I met an aunty who really praised my beauty and I told her I have inherited my good looks from my mom," Annie said sweetly. "Mom I wish I look as beautiful and as graceful as you when I am your age."
"What do you want Annie?" Irene asked amused. It was so unlike Annie to praise someone other than herself unless she wanted something from that person.
"Are you trying to say I'm only nice when I want something mom?" Annie asked pouting.
"When did I say that?" Irene asked as she continued to read her magazine.
"Mom will you do me a favour?" She asked cutely.
"What?"
"Will you give the lead role of your film to my friend?"
"What? Irene asked alarmed. How could she even ask that? "Are you out of your mind Annie?"
"Mom please-"
"No," Irene said firmly. "And you know my no means no."
She was right, Annie thought. Her no was always no. She could do anything except change her mother's decision. She should have not even asked this. Think Annie, she mentally told herself. Thinking was so hard. She felt her brain was too precious to think. She then got an idea.
"Can you not give her a small role in your film?" Annie asked timidly.
"I don't give out roles like this," Irene smiled at her.
"Please mom she's not a nobody. She's a model and a very talented one."
"But Annie the girl I have selected to play the lead has not accepted my offer yet and we're not making this film until she says yes."
"That does not matter mom," Annie then showed her mother some photographs of Trishna's modelling which Dipali had sent her. "Look isn't she pretty?"
"This is Madhu's sister?" Irene asked with interest as she looked through the pictures.
"Yes," Annie replied.
"She's quite photogenic."
"You will give her a role? Mom please say yes."
"Stop pestering me Annie."
"Please," Annie said and she continued to beg her mother making countless promises which Irene knew she would never keep.
"OK fine," Irene said finally fed up of her. There was small role she could give to this model.
"You're the best mom," Annie said happily.
The Kundras had come to Mallik House to fix the date of Madhu and RK's wedding. Both families were gathered in the hall and everyone except Trishna looked happy. It was mutually decided that the wedding would take place in three weeks time. Madhu who was sitting with her parents looked at RK shyly. He smiled back at her. Trishna silently watched everyone. Now finally when things were right again and everyone was happy, she was going to spoil everything. She felt bad about it after all she was not heartless but she was very helpless.
"Hello," Trishna said after answering Annie's call next morning.
"Hey Trish how are you?" Annie said brightly.
Trishna was shocked by her sweetness. This was the first time she had spoken so nicely with her that it felt so strange.
"Mom has agreed she is ready to cast you," Annie announced happily.
"Really?" Trishna asked not believing her ears.
"I guess you want to hear it from her," Annie said turning around to her mother, who was sitting in the hall. She handed the phone to her mother, who failed to understand why Annie was so happy.
"Hello," Irene said not seeing the point of talking to her right now when she did not even know for sure if the film would be made.
"Hello ma'am," Trishna said nervously.
"Well I don't usually give out roles like this Trishna," Irene told her. "But I have seen your pictures and I liked them so I am offering you this role. However first to make this film your si-"
"OUCH!" Annie screeched.
Irene turned to see Annie on the floor screaming. Annie had planned to distract her mother so that she would not speak to Trishna in detail.
"What happened Annie?" Irene got up leaving the phone on the couch and went to check on her daughter.
"I fell over!" Annie cried. "I've broken my leg! OUCH!"
"Oh let me see," Irene said worried.
Trishna sat down on her bed and smiled. The Irene Oberoi had offered her the lead role in her film. She could not believe it. Her phone vibrated and she saw it was a message from Annie.
You have forty eight hours to separate them and fix me a date with RK. He should be with me by the night after tomorrow
Were forty eight hours enough to do all this? She would have to do something quick.
RK was working in his cabin at Kundra Empire when the receptionist informed him that a girl named Trishna had come to meet him. Wondering why she came, he told the receptionist to send her to his cabin.
"Come in," he said after he heard a knock.
Trishna entered his cabin and walked over to his desk with a smile. He gestured her to sit down and she took the seat opposite him.
"Hi," she said.
"What's the matter? Why have you come here all of a sudden?" He asked.
"I have something important to tell you," she answered.
"What?"
"It's about Madhu."
"What about Madhu?"
"I don't know where to start from," Trishna said hesitantly. "It will look like I'm backstabbing her but I can't keep silent knowing everything either because it will be unfair on you."
"Will come straight to the point?" RK asked now worried.
"I'm your friend RK. I can't see you get cheated on."
"Trishna-"
"I think you don't know Madhu's reality," she said miserably as she opened her handbag and took out an envelope and moved it on the desk towards RK.
He curiously looked at the envelope and lifted it from the desk. He opened the envelope and took the letter out while glancing at Trishna, who looked glum. RK unfolded the letter and began reading through it. It was the same letter Madhu had left while leaving home.
"Why are you showing me this letter?" RK asked waving it at her.
"Can't you see why?" Trishna said hoping her plan would work. "This letter shows Madhu's true nature. She has never genuinely cared about anyone. She has always acted good just to be in the good books of others. Madhu probably doesn't care about your parents either. She just looked after them to impress you. I know you RK you're a really honest person and you would never love such a fake person."
RK turned back to the letter again looking upset.
"I don't believe all this," he said shaking his head.
"Why? Can you not see this letter is written by Madhu herself?"
"She was always like this. I have seen her real face. You have no idea what she used to do with me. She used to spoil everything for me. She used to tear up my college assignments, burn my dresses, hide my precious possessions etc. But she used to act all well in front of my parents and my teachers that they used to shout at me but not say anything to her. Do you know why? Because she was jealous of me."
"You're lying Madhu is not at all like this. I think you are trying to turn me against her," RK said.
"I'm not lying and neither am I doing this to turn you against her. I just want you to accept her the way she is," Trishna said quickly. "If you find out all this after marriage and leave her then it will be a lot bad for you both."
"And it's also about both of our families. They would get really upset too if you both don't get along afterwards. My parents have already been through a lot. Madhu hurt them enough by eloping from her wedding-"
"Not just Madhu you ran away too," RK reminded her.
"I had no other option RK," she said hotly. "It's Madhu's fault that I had to leave too."
"What do you mean? Why was it Madhu's fault?"
"You don't know why?"
"After she ran away mom pressurized me to take her place and get married to Mukund."
"What? But Madhu said you left before her ..."
"Madhu lied RK," Trishna said exaggerating her shock. "I left after her because mom was forcing me to marry Mukund. I could not marry him RK so I too eloped. That night I lost my phone and had nowhere to go and some goons started following me. Luckily Karan came and saved me and took me to his house. It was not my choice RK but my helplessness."
RK could not believe his ears. Did Madhu deliberately hide this fact from him? And was she really a fake person? No he would not believe Trishna's words. But he could not lie to himself. He was starting to doubt Madhu and it made him feel bad. RK then decided he would go and talk to Madhu and clear all his doubts. He would only believe what she said.
"If you don't believe me then go and ask Madhu RK," Trishna said finally standing up to leave. "If she truly loves you then she will tell you the truth."
