Chapter 92
Madhu sported a victorious smile on her face as she turned around and strutted back to the dining room. She had planted the seed and gave it some water and sunlight, now what was left was to see it sprout and grow.
Madhu held back her smile as she entered the dining room and avoided everyones questioning eyes as she took her seat. Rishab followed her back to the dining room a few seconds later. He glanced in her direction with a straight face. If Madhu is good, he is better.. Trying to figure me out huh? Keep guessing!!
Madhu looked at him as he walked to his chair slowly sporting a blank look on his face. Madhu bit her lower lip trying to gauge the situation. He refused to look at her after his initial glance. Damn... she should have worked on him a little while longer, maybe shed a few tears.
Rishab suddenly turned his head towards Madhu to find her staring into his face. Madhu was taken aback. "Uh...umm.. so what have you decided?" Madhu asked Rishab hesitatingly.
Rishab poured himself a glass of water and sipped on it, slowly. Rishab finally turned towards Madhu as he sipped his water again, letting her sweat. He watched her squirm. Finally giving in, he leaned forward close to her face, their noses almost touching. "Don't think I don't know what you were trying to do." "What do you mean? I wasn't trying to do anything. I mean I didn't do anything. What do you think I did? Well whatever you think I did... I didn't..." Madhu started blabbering nervously. Damn.. he was a sly.. "Shhh.." Rishab placed a finger on her lips to stop the chattering. "I agree with you... on this matter." Watching her eyes widen in amazement, Rishab smiled briefly before he turned towards Deepali to say what he had to say.
"Deepali..." Everyone waited with bated breath for the outcome. "I will take back the police complaint so that Sikander can get the treatment he needs." Deepali sighed in relief and smiled at Madhu mouthing a thank-you, knowing that she had a big hand in getting Rishab to change his mind. Chaos took charge at the dinning table as some agreed while others didn't agree with the decision.
Maya was heard whispering to Mr. Malik, "They cannot let him go free after what he did to Madhu. I will not allow it."
Mr. Kundra was heard pacifying his wife, "They are adults, they are mature enough to make their own decisions."
"Pay up.. I told you Madhu would get Rishab to change his mind. Never underestimate the manipulation powers of a woman." Adam stretched out his hand to collect the hard earned dough.
"That's it Adam... I didn't want it to get to this.. But.. but.. your grounded." Abby said frustrated both at Adam as well as on Madhu and Rishab, not sure she wanted Sikander anywhere except in maximum security prison, maybe even on death row.
"But Mom!!! I mean Abbieee..." Adam whined, making puppy dog faces at Abby. "Just because they didn't make a decision you wanted, doesn't mean you get to take it out on me." Adam said sticking out his tongue at her.
"Yeah if it ever happens to you, I mean if you ever get kidnapped by a psycho, we will make sure he never sees the light of day ever again." Akash tried pacifying her but just earned a glare from her.
"He would already have never seen the light of day, given that he would have to be blind to turn psycho over you!!" Adam teased his sister.
Abby whacked him over the head, "Oh shut up you... you fatso!!"
"I am as fat as you are ugly!!" Adam retorted. Abby grabbed her butter knife and charged towards Adam. Adam saw it coming and grabbed Abby's hand, "What? You were planning to butter me to death?"
"No cut your heart out and serve it to the crows, since they are the only ones who eat just about anything." Abby growled out. Akash had given up on them a while ago and now just stood by and watched them go at it.
Rishab shook his head at the private conversations that were meant to be whispered but could be heard all around the table. He rolled his eyes at the brother-sister bickering. The silent exchange between Deepali and Madhu too didn't go unnoticed. "Before you go ahead and rejoice, do listen to the conditions of the arrangement." He paused, waiting for silence at the table and it also aided in adding that typical Rishab dramatic effect.
"He will be treated outside the country at the best institution of my choice. I will be the first source for any decisions regarding treatment. As and when permitted by the doctor, you will be the only person who will be allowed to visit him after attaining my written authorisation each time. There will be no other communication from either side whatsoever. The travel and security requirements from prison to the mental care institute will be my lookout. As soon as he lands on foreign soil, his passport will be seized by a diplomat from the Indian Embassy. If and when he is certified as completely sane, he is never to return to this country and will have to meet with the doctor of my choosing twice a week, somewhat like how a parolee meets with his parole officer."
Deepali opened her mouth to say something but Rishab raised his hand indicating that he wasn't done.
"And lastly, if he ever tries to do something like this again, forget trying, if he even thinks about it, I will shoot first and not ask questions later." Rishab put forth his conditions, which were definitly not negotiable.
