Chapter 91
Adam poked Deepali on the shoulder. "Uh.. excuse me... but will you be sitting down anytime soon?" Deepali looked at him like he was slow. Rishab shut his eyes in frustration and counted down from 10 with every breath he took, hoping his anger dissipates and he wouldn't have to kill Adam, kill is too strong a word, maybe just break a leg or two. Madhu just rolled her eyes at his inappropriate timing. "Adammm..." Abby hissed at her idiotic brother and dragged him back to his seat. "Sorry.. Mom dropped him on his head a couple of times when he was a baby. Hence the retarded behaviour." Abby explained to noone in particular and to everyone. "Mom dropped me on my head... Why didn't she tell me?" Adam asked. "If you don't shut-up now... I will take a baseball bat to it." Abby warned, pinching Adam on his side for added measure. "Ahhh.." Adam mumbled rubbing his side as he sulked.
Before Deepali could explain further, she glanced in Adam's direction to be sure of the fact that there would not be any further distractions at least from him.
"What he doesn't need is to be stuck in a 10"X10" cell for the rest of his life. He needs treatment Rishab... medical attention. And you are the only one who can help him get it." Deepali pleaded.
There was silence in the room. Everyone looked nervously towards Rishab for an answer. Rishab remained silent.
"f**kity f**k f**k..." Adam whispered, "Looks like Sikander is out of luck."
"Shhh... Don't make a noise.. or you'll lose your voice.. Or better yet... lets make a bet... What fate does his future hold?" Akash whispered to Adam.
"Shut-up you two... before Rishab kicks you... in a place that will make you go 'Ouuuhhh-ouuuhhh'..." Abby warned, overhearing their ridiculous poetic conversation.
"Okaaay... So from what you say, I understand that he is your brother and he needs medical attention. But what I fail to understand is why do I have to care about what he needs? Seriously.. why do I have to care about his needs? What about my needs? I need him to be dead. I need for his soul to be sucked out of his lifeless body and sent to the deepest, darkest abyss, where it can be tortured for all eternity." Rishab replied after giving Deepali's request a onceover.
Deepali gasped in horror at Rishab's words. She wrapped her arms around her struggling to remain strong but failing miserably. She took a couple of steps back and started to turn around to walk away, her limbs feeling like they were set on auto pilot.
"Deepali.. wait.." Madhu called out. Deepali paused mid-step and slowly turned around. Rishab grabbed Madhu by the arm, "Madhu.. don't", a slight hint of plea in his voice, which only Madhu picked up on.
Madhu untangled his hand from her arm and pulled on it till he followed her towards the kitchen for a private conversation.
"No, no, no and no.." Rishab said as soon as they were alone in the kitchen. "After what he did to you.. " Rishab said touching the healing reddish bruise around her eye, remembering when it was still bluish black.
"Yes... I remember... I was there.. he did it all to me. But the key word here is 'ME'... He did what he did to me." Madhu threw back at Rishab.
"You think just because you have the bruises that you were the only one hurt in this whole incident? I too lived through hell during that time." Rishab said grabbing Madhu by the shoulders trying to make her understand.
Madhu sighed.. This was getting nowhere and they would only end up fighting again and she was just too tired to do that yet again.
Madhu raised her hands and caressed Rishab's face as she spoke. "Rishab, I too would like to see Sikander suffer a painful existence. Be thrown into a cell with absolutely no hope of ever seeing daylight. But that was before I knew about his mental illness."
Rishab shook his head, disagreeing with her. Madhu held on to him, "Rishab.. Rishab... Listen!!" she raised her voice to get his attention. Rishab stopped and stared at her. "I feel that it would be wrong on our part to not give him the medical treatment that he obviously needs. I know you are worried about my safety. As long as I am with you I will be safe. Plus have you seen these institutions where they provide medical treatment to people with such metal illnesses, they are better gaurded than the supermax security levels of the U.S. Federal Prisons. Anyway, I have said what I had to say. Now I leave it upto you to decide."
Madhu stood on tippy-toes and kissed him lightly on his lips and turned around to leave but not before wiping off the gloss she had left on him.
Did she just handle him?? Damn she was good... when did she get so good? Okay this was not good... Or was it?
