D, that was amazing! I agree with all the other comments. Your writing is magical.Thank you so much! I used to watch the show, but haven't seen any episodes lately. I might go back and skim through after reading this, even though this probably is way better than the actual thing.

D..nice to hear from you. Seeing your PM, i thought it would be something regarding the "Bun in the oven":) Surprisingly, it was an OS from you. Your bun in the oven phrase had me smiling. Dear you are in my prayers. Do let us know that you and your little bundle of joy are well.
Coming to the OS, i have watched only the first few episodes of the serial and nothing lately. But the visual and the impact you draw with your words are so mesmerizing and addictive!! I was tempted to google the recent episodes. The way you described Sultan's eyes gave me giddiness.During the bullet removing scene i didn't know that i was also holding my breath just as Madhu. It was indeed a gift from you. Thank you Devi.
Of course, D writing something; and us not be here? Can that ever happen?Originally posted by: -publicenemy-
There you are... slowly the regulars are petering in :)As for the show, watch it for Sultan. I can't do justice to him... It all started with just one VM that Ninand sent me... so yea, I blame her entirely!-D
Legend – OS – 3

He lay his head down on the pillows, the scotch bottle hanging loosely from his hand. He had gotten into a row with his mother and her comments about his cheap dialogues from B-grade movies rang loud in his head.
He heard another voice simultaneously... much louder...
It was She... Madhu... Whispering in that controlled rage of hers that he meant nothing to her.
Nothing!
He knew it wasn't true, of course.
He meant everything to her. He had ensured that he did before he had decided that she was ready to be broken.
The woman couldn't possibly fall out of love with him so quickly.
She was just trying to hold onto her pride, that was all... whatever he hadn't shredded that was...
She couldn't have moved on from him.
As if his thoughts conjured her up, he heard the sound of her payals suddenly and sat up in bed.
There she was...
An intense relief rushed through him.
She had come to him after all...
She hadn't gone away callously as he had thought she had...
Callous just wasn't in her nature...
He ran to her side and took her face in his hands, repeatedly asking him whether she was alright.
She nodded with a serene smile and he felt another wave of relief.
She was herself again. The Madhubala who was in love with him. Her eyes said so... he looked into them carefully to make sure that it was indeed love that he saw there.
Her eyes that were trained on him until that moment strained a bit to the right suddenly.
Her serene smile disappeared as her gaze became more alert.
They sharpened with awareness... He turned to follow her stare and found...
Those Eyes!
It was the same ones he had seen in the closing tinted windows of the car that had dropped her off at the chawl that night!
"You! Who the hell are you?" He asked as he advanced on the stranger.
The only thing he could make out was the man's inordinate height and breadth of shoulders...
His form was otherwise swathed in darkness.
Nothing was clearly visible aside from those Tiger Eyes.
Which were trained on his wife...
"How dare you? This is my wife, do you hear me? MY wife!" His voice rose in fury.
The man did not seem to hear him or even notice his presence. His gaze was trained solely on Madhu. He extended his hands out and Rishab thought the vein throbbing at his temple would spontaneously combust.
"Dare you to take even a single step towards Madhu! She is my wife! Mine! Before you touch her, you'll have to..." his sentence petered out as he turned to look in Madhu's direction and noticed that she had taken a step forward, her eyes steadfastly focused on the stranger with the unnatural eyes. She didn't appear to hear his outburst at all.
"Madhu...?"
"Madhu!" he called her name again, this time with more force.
She appeared to have a tunnel vision trained solely on the man at the other end of the room.
Before she moved forward and out of his reach, he grabbed for her wrist to pull her back.
She tried to shake her hand without looking back at him and he felt his fury rise ten-fold.
He looked back at the stranger who still had his arms extended in Madhu's direction.
"Madhu!" he called her name again as he tried to jerk her back by her wrist.
She turned back finally, but did not look at him and instead looked down at her wrist, trying to shake off his hold as if he were a dog nipping at her.
"Madhu!" he yelled.
Her expression changed suddenly and she looked up in distress towards where the stranger was standing.
"I am Here!" he shouted at her, but noticed that her distress had changed to panic.
"Sultaaan!" she screamed suddenly.
He looked towards the other end of the room and saw that it was now empty.
The stranger had disappeared.
She managed to break his hold on her in that moment and rushed toward where the stranger had been standing just a moment ago.
Amidst the fury that crashed like waves inside him, he could feel it... somewhere deep deep inside him...
It was Panic.
Those Eyes had a Name...
Sultan.
