I won't know An, I live a calm life!
But I suppose it is to love obsessively, passionately and possessively. It probably is the need to show the world and its society that his love is his and only his. It is an emotion both beautifully passionate and mercilessly ugly.
There is no control in junoon. Or if there is control --it is a calculated one. And my last line has just described the CVs of this show!

We cant define it constructively because the term itself has various layers of destructivity combined with obsession...Junoon has negative streak to it... Junoon for me is an obsession or mania which consumes you forgetting the boundaries of right and wrong and then there is no way back... Destroyal beyond repair...(this in real context.. since in reel anything can be revived or repaired)

Well the literal meaning to this term is Madness... Insanity... Obsession... Craziness

I dont want to go in detail since I myself wont be able to explain it

But I have a say that whatever is shown in Indian movies with Junoon or obsession as the base of the story they all were negative characters... Everything was utter madness to the extent of abuse... be it SRK in Darr/ Anjaam... Nana in agni sakshi... or even SRK in Baazigar where revenge was the core content of Obsession/Junoon

What is to be observed is... these obsessors had the ultimate end of Death and all were VILLAINS/stark negative character except SRK in baazigar.. he was the hero cum villain but they justified the character... SRK won best VILLAIN award for Darr(which potrays Junoon)

But here the case is completely inverse... RK is the HERO of the show but he is made VILLAIN... The negativity should have been handled in a positive manner... The CVs have not been able to handle the revenge track and convey/potray what they exactly wanted to... Now it has so happened that RK has crossed the lines of Hero and entered the Villain domain and to bring him back it will take exeptional writing or will end up butchering the character doing injustice to it

I take Junoon as a strong passion. It doesn't always have to be in a crazy, negative context. The way they are showing Junoon.

I hope junoon means Passion right? I am unable to give an accurate defenition to passion. But i think its a very strong powerful and uncontrollable emotion like anger, hatred, love ,lust etc. When we comes to Rk he is passionate for sure. But what rides his passion is still a confusion to me. In the begining it was hatred for her which drove him crazy . but now it seems like possessiveness is his passion.

I dont feel like Rk' passion is love or lust. He just didnt look at her that way . He always wants to keep her around. I am wondering what kind of a passion is this????

i dont think what RK is doing comes under junoon category ..its more of emotional abuse...!!
madhu crying ..and RK saying her tears are healing him and only she has to look after his wounds
is definitely not junoon and the way he is blackmailing her ..forcing to stay in such disrespectful manner crosses the limit of junoon n starts irritating n looks more lk stupidity and mahapagalpan..!
nice post An...😊

Thank you for your reply. According to me, there is no thin line between love and hate because both are extreme emotions and to tilt in favour of one, one needs to go a long distance from the other.

If I have read your views correctly, madness is not equal to junoon?

Can extreme obsession for someone make you so self-obsessed that you stop seeing her emotions and what she wants?

I understand the deep desire, passion, craze but I don't see how emotional blackmail, hurting the person you love, harming her, fit in junoon.

You are welcome. 😊 To me the thin line between love and hate means that when you love someone too much and they do something terrible to hurt you, that strong love now turns to strong hate.So there's a thin line between love and hate, you can love the person today and hate them tomorrow depending on the volatility of the relationship. Like when in a scene Madhu told RK "I hate you, par yeh bhi sach hai ki jitna main tumse hate karti hoon utna hi tumse pyar bhi karti hoon"

Yes, madness and junoon are not equals but again when one feels that their deep desire or craze or passion is about to be lost to them forever the Junoon can turn into madness, but I dont feel RK is anywhere near the stage of being mentally ill.

I agree that the way in which RK goes about expressing his feelings is not always right especially his not taking into consideration what Madhu has been through since the unwedding.

But if you can take RK from my POV has RK not always been self - obsessesed (did he never do things to soothe his ego or his bruised pride or his feelings), has he never emotionally blackmailed Madhu (marry me and save your father/leave your family and come away with me to prove your love and was Madhu not willing to do that), has he never hurt the people he loves (has he not been hurting his mother for the last 10-15 yrs). Please RK has never harmed Madhu (when you say harm i've taken it in the physical sense).

What I'm trying to say is no RK's actions are not justifiable as he is emotionally hurting a person, a person he loves a lot but at the same time I appreciate the fact that his junoon is being portrayed in the way RK (the fictional characters) is supposed to be shown since he is always shown to be filmy or over the top and I really feel that he is redeemable. Why when his mothers love did not change him, Madhus love and sacrifices did not change him when they were happily married why is he suddenly expected to turn into a normal lover boy just bcoz he has started realizing his love for Madhu and his own stupidity.

I am a RK and Rishbala fan, I am sure we are going to disagree on a lot of the things that I've written above so I hope we can agree to politely disagree 😆

Sorry for the long essay 😭

Correct me if I'm wrong (I've only seen the movie once and that too years and years ago...and only remember a few scenes)...but in the movie, didn't SRK (forgot his onscreen name) accept that he loved kirann? and that's where all his junoon was coming from...he couldn't accept her with anyone else right? But in the show, RK hasn't even realized his mistakes...or I should say sins and he hasn't accepted that he loves Madhu...which is why in my opinion, RK's junoon which is coming out of nowhere is more of abuse and madness to me.

Its neither love nor junoon in case of RK. He just wants to satisfy his ego. He cannot come in terms with the fact that Madhu is indeed moving on in her life instead of weeping over what he did with her. Plus Madhu's absence has left him with no job which is frustrating him even more.

It's something that doesnt let you take relationship decisions from mind but from heart.
