The excellent ep Wednesday, 27th Feb. 2013 (ep.#206) was marked by three things.😃

Firstly, RK's yet again evident carelessly negligent courage in the face of potential peril.😊

Though I'm curious whether he would have been as dismissively willing to open that package which had Bittuji petrified, had Madhu also been in the vicinity to be endangered.😕😳

Secondly, Madhu's showing that whereas earlier her blazing courage was presented in straightforward words in whatever emotional vein, she has been an outstanding student to her husband's dramatic way of both action and speech.😳😃

Seeing Madhu this way - with wellplanned actions and sparkling dialogues - was a delight.⭐️

However, the reference to the male lead's previous serial raises the trepidation that they may turn this into a running gag, with more references to be made in future to both leads' previous roles. Hopefully not.😕

And thirdly, the fantastic precap - which managed to not only overshadow this excellent ep, but also compensate to some extent for the emotionally wretched past 14 eps.

The first scene of the ep had Bittuji and Radha conferring over the phone about Madhu's absence on the set.

And then a girl came in, and Bittuji, RK and finally Dipali saw that someone else had come in response to the call that Madhu should have answered to.

As Bittuji took the disappointment that Madhu had apparently decided *not* to naively prove a point by sticking with the job that would have her in RK's constant proximity, RK himself came there and answered his mother over the phone.

He coldly, with glittering taunting finesse, made a mockery of that poem (which was already turned into a sufficient irritation with that dreadful musical version played thrice so far) to gloat to his mother that Madhu wouldn't be coming back to the set.

RK's mockery of Madhu's poem was not to mock Madhu who wasn't even there.

It was a deliberate showcasing of disrespect on many levels to strike at Bittuji, and even more so at Radha.

It was a taunt where he might have raged.

And Radha's reaction made it even more clear.

This time, she did not react with anger or disapproval. She did not admonish or berate or react coldly.

She pleaded "Rishu", the childhood nickname she had held onto for him all these years as the one constant reminder he did not forbid her to use in their relationship, when he would baulk at both tenderness and authority from her.

A reminder of a time when her had adored his mother, and had not seen her as a vacillating weak woman who sought to force him to accept relationships that were unworthy of being accepted.

While Madhu and Radha finally clarified to RK recently that Radha had remarried to provide him with a father-figure rather than for her own sake, her decision to continue to abide by that marriage has ensured that RK does not look upto her as he once used to even after reconciling with her.

Kukku proved to be a disappointment as both husband and stepfather, and Radha - though capable of both shrewdness and decisiveness - chose instead to keep forcing that relationship down her son's throat even after becoming completely estranged from him, such as in her introducing Kukku to guests not as her husband but as RK's father.

Now - with RK having specified to his mother that her second family is *not* his and he will not accept attempts from her toward that result - she and her son can look ahead.

But Radha is well aware of the kind of drastic reaction RK is capable of to even the perception of disloyalty or betrayal.

And his mother and Bittuji going behind his back in a manner most extremely against his wishes can far too easily qualify as betrayal in RK's view.

Bittuji might accept the imputation for the now, and trust his 'Chief' to come round after all is sorted.

Radha will not take any such chance.

If her son reacts with anger or emotionally, she can consider that he has not yet fully reverted to his former temperament, and she can show irritation such as in ignoring him and attending to Sikki.

But coldness and indirect taunts are a forewarner of that version of her son who held her at a distance throughout years of proximity.

Radha will not do other than placate her son in direct interaction until he is in a mood less likely to build walls of coldness and distance between him and his mother.

Whatever his reasoning for seeking to distance Madhu from himself, he went to great lengths to achieve it, and that too in a manner that would ensure support for Madhu from all those in the know.

So his mother's and Bittuji's reacting with outrage in Madhu's defence was understandable.😊

But their less than a day later settling for rapprochement with him - with all the subduing being on their side - knocked him for a loop.

Bittuji demeaned himself to get back to work for him.

Radha no longer made any overt attempt to rebuke him or get him to admit feelings for Madhu.

While he realized Bittuji had arranged for Madhu to work in his proximity, he did not realize that Radha was not simply being kept informed but was rather the chief conspirator.

Even now, he may perhaps not realize that his mother is the one urging Bittuji forward.

But he *has* realized that they are united in their attempt to keep Madhu in his sights.

And thanks to RK's convoluted version of insecurity, the fact that *both* his mother and Bittuji are acting purely in his interests - with Madhu's potentially also benefiting as a coincidental effect - never occurs to him.

He refers later - while speaking to Bittuji - of Bittuji and his mother being more inclined to Madhu now.

If they truly were that, they would not have chosen the current course of action which is assured to hurt far more deeply the person in love than the person that both Radha and Bittuji believe does not know he's in love.

With Madhu no longer around, RK's one-off halfhearted attempt to use Dipali to outrage Madhu into quitting may have apparently yielded dividend, but the consequence was having to endure Dipali's continued presence.

And he was sufficiently repulsed by her to - in his own manner - express relief to Bittuji at the helpful rescue from her company.

Fortunately, Bittuji had entirely on his own - minus Radha in one of her 'happy family' blind spots - figured out that getting Sikki on set would keep Dipali hemmed in at least to some extent.

After the disappointment of Madhu not coming to the set, the courier's package brought terror for Bittuji.

The potential danger to RK's life - from sources besides Shamsher and Balraj - has always been something that - besides RK himself - only Bittuji is fully aware of.

In the past too, Radha and Madhu found out only with RK lying in the hospital after getting shot at the visarjan.

Many aspects of his life that might cause the people in his life to see him at a disadvantage and also worry some of them, RK has always insisted on keeping them uninformed of.

In fact, if information were a currency, it is the only one RK does not spend with generosity on those associated with him.

And Madhu, throughout their marriage, both in hostility and later in love, remained ignorant of several major developments in RK's life with his passive or active involvement - be it his life being under threat by an extortionist and later by Shamsher, his giving fake accident news to Padmini and Shamsher to get them to acknowledge their feelings, his arranging for a film to star Trishna, or indeed many others.

It was an ignorance highlighted in the courier package that she sent to jibe at RK, but which actually had Bittuji in a cold sweat for quite a while.

And when Bittuji realized who had sent the package and first-aid contents with their individual notes, his broad smile was a clear relaxing indicator that it was Madhu's doing.

The number of people Bittuji would be happy to see harassing his 'Chief' other than for RK's benefit are on a shortlist of exactly one - his 'bhabhiji'.

Even Radha doesn't qualify. Bittuji enthusiastically conspires with her in the current situation because her ploys may trouble RK, but the intent is to RK's benefit and happiness.

And finally Madhu came, and the scene sparkled.

This couple may react to any harm to each other as if their hearts were being cut open, but Madhu is finally learning - truly in RK's style - to mask that with audacious bravado and sophistry.

The digs and the jibes were an absolute delight. Every line, a hit and a score. Perfect.

DD shone in that scene, bringing to life Madhu's blazing strength, fierce pride and an obduracy that contravenes tactic and stratagem.

And VD yet again maintained that stellar ambiguity, every expression layered with two possible meanings for whensoever the CVs finally decide to grace us with suspense denouement.

And this time - for perhaps the first time ever - Madhu revealed in front of the others a privately delivered (the second time too, no one on the set was close enough to hear) insult from Dipali.

This estrangement between Madhu and RK may yet see both completely set aside societal bounds and downgrade Dipali's interaction status to pestilential menace.

Dipali does not know that her attempt to place Madhu at disadvantage has been blunted by Shraddha the heroine as well as some of Madhu's fellow crew being aware that Madhu is RK's estranged wife.

'Estranged' still places Madhu in association with RK.

And while RK may not appear at all protective, the thought that he *might* take offence at Madhu being mistreated other than by his will is a quelling point for everyone.

Dipali is striving on in a battle she does not even know she has already lost on this front as well.

And her own origins, her failed attempt at becoming a star, and even less so her unimpressive husband are hardly covered secrets that they might not be flung into her face, while she so foolishly and deludedly mocks Madhu for her chawl-origins.

And finally, at the end of this ep came the absolutely lovely precap.

RK and Madhu, both looking intoxicated, and talking without rancour in their defensive reactions.😳

The couple managed in that condition to make the extent of their animosity appear a mere tiff, their concern for each other unconcealed, as when RK steadied Madhu against the counter in her stumbling.😳

And later when she pushed him away and he lost his balance, she cried out that he might fall and rushed to catch him, then getting spun about until he was holding her in that romantic dip pose and their eyes held love for each other like the tenderest and most precious of gifts.😳
