Shri,
I am not entirely against the idea of them going away. I never was. I am not even saying that a man cannot survive after he loses everything and cannot build a new life. As you wrote, your grandfather successfully built a new life for himself in an entirely alien world and that is really commendable. I did mention that RK can rebuild his fortune with whatever profession he chooses in his new life. He is quite capable of that. Its one thing to lose out everything owing to a natural calamity or quirk of fate(as was with Padmini) and another one to bring such situation upon oneself by your decisions. And that is what RK would be doing if the will ever gets executed. The lack of perception shown in his thoughts is what I am not so much in favor of.
As you said, lot of people are negative about this going away track, coz majority of people work with a simple, logical mind and hence cannot comprehend this thought of leaving all the money behind, not taking anything with him to start his life anew. Not everyone possesses that artists mentality. Its only very few who have a very creative mind, might be able to come to terms with RKs decision and the idea might appeal to them, like yourself. No wonder you understand RKs character so well, and you are always able to pen down your analysis in a brilliant manner for commoners like me. 👏
Well people forget that money is just means to bargain. And there is luck, personal character, destiny and Faith above it. If there is no money, one can always barter his other resources.
It is daunting to many and even RK to do what he is doing...but the man takes to alcohol the moment he fears losing Madhu. Wouldn't he want to cure himself in the manner he believes it will help him. And he is not alone. His wife there to support him. What more can he want.
FEAR to LOSE is what AILS most. And I believe the strong minded always do something to remove that fear, which ever way it can be done. Sometimes the only reality left is to know that one is destined to lose and he better be a loser. How bad is that predicament ? But what if PEACE comes with accepting the LOSS. Thing is peace comes when one accepts his condition. And to accept anything one needs to question the condition and fight it. Until you have asked, there is no walking on the path to peace. And all this leads us on the path of renunciation.
You too are questioning what you don't want to accept. And I am just trying to answer. This is how we find answers in the world at real too. Speaking from my experience.
I agree that just as it is difficult for you to accept what RK is doing, it is difficult to answer for me as well in his support. But then, there was Lord Ram who left everything and went on exile to bestow peace for his parents( their condition was not for him to question, peace to him was to just to listen, to follow) and there was Gautam Buddha who left his wife and son behind to find his answers. Two different contexts. Compared to Gautam Buddha, RK is not taking SANYAAS and that is so much uplifting and to know that he is still a SANSAARI. And we build our character, hearing these stories, having faith in God.
