Probably the only way to pay tribute to 60's, 70's cinema is to have a trip to the village. Metro is all abuzz with facebook, twitter and cell phones. As if gaon wale are not aware of these things. In fact in many ways they are much smarter than their metro brothers-n-sisters.

Khatara gadi se bail gadi mein gaon ke rustic life ka anubhav. Bail Gadi ka safar quite cute tha. Liked those kids annoying RK with their adoration for him. Sitting in the bail gadi for an hour in the hot sun with those annoyingly chirpi (to RK i.e.) kids is no joke. I think probably he was not prepared to deal with it without any prior warning. Madhu was thoroughly enjoying RK's chidna, khafa hona, his apparent discomfort to adjust to this mode of transportation. She did not let go of the chance to remind him that this is what he wants leaving his luxurious life style for. Abhi hasa woh lekin it ain't that easy mister!!!

Hilarious welcome RK ka in the village. What a wound to RK's pride, eh? The eldest person in the village either refused to recognize him or did not give him any bhav that RK is so used, kept calling him different names everytime. RK ki superstar status ka pura kachra kiya unhone. Madhu did the smart thing to touch his feet and make RK do the same. It was done to soften that patil ajjya (ajjya means grandfather. aaji is grandmother, Bayko = Biwi/Wife) towards them and give them temporary shelter.

Kaki represented a smart shrewd gaon ki woman who had a critical eye towards RK's overall appearance. It was not his attire so much but his attitude that rubbed her the wrong way and she point blank refused to bow to it. It had nothing to do with his profession I think and then she proceeded to set him straight. Though she should not have made fun of his name like that, that was harsh and insensitive. But from all appearances they seem to a wealthy family in the village and that comment was more from that attitude.

The way that Kaki was talking to him, in Marahi we call it 'Bin panyachi hajamat'. (roughly it means bring the person down a notch from his/her high horse or attitude).

Mini complaint :they cannot use 'hum he deewane' for every Rishbala scene. We're supposed to imagine passion when we hear the song😛. It's like a signal for us poor viewers. They can use some other song na, esp while riding a bullock cart😆.

Such a cute episode-but I fear it does not bode well for RK if he can't adapt to "ordinary life"!

I will translate the marathi lingo used in today's episode for all your convenience. Here it goes in the sequence that they came up.

Ajji means grandmother and Ajja means grandfather.

Ajja to everyone: eh! kay challay? -> Hey whats going on here?
The bullock cart rider to ajja : paaya padto ajja. -> (Touches his feet)
Ajji to RK: Naav kay? -> Whats ur name?
Ajji to Madhu: ye pori ye.-> Come in.
Ajji to Madhu : Kay ga pori.-> (This is just an exclamation)
Ajji to Madhu: Deva shapatth-> I swear to God.
Ajji to Madhu: Majhich najar lagel-> meri hi nazar lag jaegi.
Ajji to RK: Are baba kay karto? -> Hey boy! What r u upto?
Ajji to Madhu: Lai gunachi porgi-> You are a very well mannered girl.(Like lakhon me ek)

Some of these are literal translations and some are implied meaning. I hope it helps. 😛

Vijay Kadam and Sushma Bhagwat were brilliant. 👏
So was VD with his irritated, annoyed, arrogant and basking in adulation mode. He had to portray all these emotions at once and he excelled in it.

And, yes I forgot to mention in my post. Agree with Shri, that the ball has been dropped for Madhu's stardom by the means of Ajji today. 😃
