Amazing update...and I really like the flow of the story.

Finally got around to reading you creation. Sorry it took so long. So far, I am enjoying my Friday night with a fascinating read. Keep em coming.😃

I would like to apologize for the short updates. I am and will be busy for a couple of days. I stayed up to write these updates till past 1 am and I truly hope my exhaustion is not conceivable in my writing. I try to always better my writing skills and if my writing today doesn't seem to meet the mark, I humbly apologize.

Chapter 12

For Mr. Malik, his daughter was his most cherished possession in this world. And she became his entire world after the tragic death of his lovely wife, Padmini. He was the CEO of a multinational company and was the head of all the project management divisions in India. During those days, work took up most of his time. It was all about prestige and money. But when his wife left him the way she did, life hit him in the face. He got a new perspective on life and started life anew. He resigned from his position in the company against everyone's advise and decided to give time to his daughter. He gave up on work for a year to concentrate on the needs of his daughter. When he and the therapist felt that Madhu was better able to cope with the loss of her mother and had learned to channel her anger, sadness and loss through her paintings, he decided to work again. After careful thinking, he started an NGO called Saplings, which cared for needs of children living in impoverished conditions. His past contacts acting as leverage, as well as a very generous benefactor whose constant inflow of funds helps keep Saplings running smoothly, he was able to see this institution grow. In the last 4-5 years, especially after finishing university Madhu began to spend hours on end at Saplings, where she would conduct drawing classes for the children. Mr. Malik encouraged this hoping that interacting with children might open Madhu up to the feeling of love and being loved again.

"Oh what was I thinking asking for this meeting with Mr. Kundra? I should call up and cancel. How can I even think about canceling, after all it was my fault that I was late. And now if I cancel again, it will be disastrous. And what about Bittuji? He will be blamed if I don't turn up. How, how could I forget your appointment with the doctor today? I cannot not go with you. I promised Mommy that I would always take care of you." Madhu continued rambling over and over again. This went on for quite some time, since the time Madhu hung up on Bittuji and Maya reminded Madhu about the doctor's appointment today. For a whole Mr. Malik was highly bemused with his daughter and continued reading his newspaper. Finally he decided to say something to calm her down before she has a panic attack. "Sweetheart," he began slowly as if talking to a child, "I think I am old enough now to go to the doctors on my own. Anyway it is just a routine check-up." "But Daddy, I promised Mommy that...", I began but Daddy cut me off saying, " Yes, I know sweetheart but I am your father, and you are my daughter. It is not the other way around. I let you care for me not because I cannot care for myself but because I know it gives you immense happiness. But today you need to be elsewhere and I am pretty sure I can manage a visit to the doctors on my own. Anyway my appointment is at 4:30pm. You can meet me at the hospital later and we could come home together after my appointment. And if I need anything I will call you." "Promise", he added as an extra measure.

Chapter 13

Rishab was not very happy with the results of his lunch meeting. There was going to be a delay in the completion of the project and he didn't like delays. As he sat in his office going through the figures the analysts had provided regarding investing in SJVN Ltd shares, Bittuji cautiously walked in to remind him about his next meeting with Madhu. He knew that his boss was not going to be happy with what he had to say, so in a soothing voice he spoke, "Sir, your next meeting is at 4 o'clock with the artist whose paintings I have managed to acquire for you. The paintings will be delivered at your residence at the end of 2weeks after the exhibition." Rishab's head shot up at his words and remembered the connection he felt to the artist through her paintings. Bittuji waited for a while for his boss to say something but since he continued to be silent, he continued slowly, "She wanted to meet you personally today to apologize for her lateness and provide an explanation for the same. But Sir, if I may, I already know the reason for her lateness." Rishab gave him a piercing stare which told him to go on and he narrated last evenings happenings.

Madhu arrived on time for the meeting and waited patiently at the reception. Bittuji pleasantly greeted her and accompanied her to Mr. Rishab Kundra's office, on the way giving her a brief on the company and its work. Madhu knocked on Mr. Kundra's door and heard a crisp "Come in" from inside. He was busy searching for a file on the shelf behind his chair. As Madhu began to speak, "Excuse me..", he interrupted her "Please have a seat I will be with you in a second". Madhu tried to catch a glimpse of his face but could only get a partial view as his back was turned for the most part. Just as he found the file he was looking for and turned, both of then turned white and screamed out, "YOU!!"
