Madhu was in flight. She emerged gasping from a torrent of water that was both boiling hot and icy cold. Strange clouds scudded across her face, hot and poisonous; smothering her. Then she was on dry ground, held safe in the embrace of fresh laundry. It smelt of lavender.

When she opened her reluctant eyes, she saw an angel leaning over her, watching her with immense kindness. He was beautiful and bathed in soft, golden light. He was feeding her ambrosia and nectar, and she felt all the nameless hurts she carried within her leech away. Relief surged through her being, and she collapsed into a world of light and peace...
