"Mr. Saxena, will you PLEASE take your daughter outside? Subah se mera sar kha rahi hai' Apparently usse 'toofie horsie' ke paas jaana hai", Damini said slightly petulantly, as Prithvi came into the room. Their three year old daughter Pari instantly began to fidget, clamouring for her papa to pick her up. Damini huffed as she watched her darling baby rush into her father's arms, squealing excitedly, forgetting all about her mother. Prithvi smiled, and sent Pari out, telling her to wear her boots. He walked to Damini, who was at the cupboard, and put his arms around her. "How are you feeling?" he asked, nuzzling his nose into the crook of her neck. Damini turned and hugged him properly. "I'm fine' but I miss you" she admitted, complaining - "tum aaj kal bohot busy rehte ho' You have no time for me". Prithvi held her closer, "I'm sorry Damini' I promise I'll make it up to you", he said and kissed her forehead. "I'll hold you to that, Mr. Saxena", Damini smirked, "now go and take your daughter to the stables before she comes back here". Grinning at her, he kissed her cheek and with a whispered 'Be back soon', he left the room.
Smiling happily, Damini sat down on the bed with a book. She'd only read a few pages when her mind began wandering. She sometimes couldn't believe how blessed she was. A loving husband, affectionate sisters, brothers-in-law who were more like her brothers, an adorable nephew and a beautiful little girl ' what more could she ask for? She smiled as she thought of how attached Pari was to Prithvi - When Pari had been born, Damini had proclaimed that Pari was her little doll and that she would spoil her silly and play with her all day, dressing her in pretty frocks and the like' But little Pari was a lot like her mamma and had obstinately ruined all those plans ' she refused to play dress-up, said that her dollies were boring and donated all her teddies to her aunt Rosh. Instead, Pari specialized in romping around the house with Champ and getting the both of them into all sorts of trouble. Champ would invariably be caught and be taken to task by Avni, but Pari was smarter than that. She had the men of the family, including the hapless Champ, wrapped around her little finger, and she only had to pout or blink her big eyes at them to get them to do her bidding. Prithvi especially doted on his daughter. He had been so proud the day Pari toddled out to the stud farm and insisted that 'toofie horsie' was her best friend and that she would visit her 'evvyday'. Prithvi had taken one look at Damini's crestfallen face as Pari threw a royal tantrum to learn to 'go bye bye' with her 'Toofie', and had burst out laughing. He'd winked and taken his daughter for a spin and since that day, Pari was officially obsessed with horses.
Shaling herself out of reverie mode, Damini walked to the window, only to find her husband and daughter fussing over Toofan as usual. "Stupid Toofan!" she muttered jealously. "First Prithvi and now Pari' that darn animal is stealing my family from me!" she declared dramatically. Still mumbling, she walked to the desk "I suppose they will pay attention to me only if I begin neighing". Angrily, she began to sift through her papers, absently rubbing her stomach with the other hand, as she felt a kick. "Will you abandon me like your papa and di?" she asked softly, her hand still on her stomach. She turned again to look at Prithvi and Pari, who were now waving at her happily and cheering. Smiling, she decided to forgive Toofan for the time-being and take a nap'

"Boo!!"
"Sameer! Oh my god, you scared me! Yeh bachkani harkatein kab chodoge tum?" Avni scolded, picking up a cloth to wipe the juice she had spilt.
Sameer walked in, grinning, and put his arms around his wife. "Kabhi nahin chodoonga. Kyun koi problem hai?" he asked, still grinning cheekily. Avni smiled and tried to get away from him, but to no avail. "Chodo Sameer' I have to take snacks for the kids. Champ ka aaj play date hai remember? Mrs. Varma ke twins aayi hui hain. Bechari ladkiyaan thak gayi hongi'" she said, still trying to break free'
Just then, Roshni came into the kitchen giggling, followed closely by a smirking Varun. "Avni di, you are not going to believe this!" she said, laughing even harder when she saw what was happening there. "Like father, like son' zara chal ke dekho toh sahi ki Champ kya kar raha hai" Varun said.
Curious, Avni and Sameer followed Roshni and Varun to Avni's garden where the three children were playing. Roshni motioned them to stay hidden and observe' Just then, Prithvi entered, Pari in tow. Puzzled at seeing them huddled at the wall, he went over to them. "What are'" he began, but was shushed and made to join them.
Champ was plucking a flower and giving it to one of the girls. Avni frowned at this desecration of her blessed plants but didn't say a word, observing her son's antics intently. The girl who had received the flower grinned, revealing her missing teeth while her twin sulked by the side. Always chivalrous, Champ plucked another flower and handed it to her, and was immediately rewarded by a smile. The three children began to play together again, oblivious to the adults doubling up in laughter and one tiny girl shaking her head at how dense her brother was.
Avni glared at Sameer. "This is all YOUR fault!" she hissed. Rosh and Varun snickered loudly, as Prithvi looked on amusedly. Sameer simply smirked. "Arre mera beta hai' Obviously charmer hoga na" he said, while Avni seemed unimpressed. A sudden commotion caught their attention. A scuffle seemed to have broken out and Champ was currently being pulled by each arm by the girls. At this, the adults began howling with laughter. Sameer wiped an imaginary tear. "Look at my son! Girls are fighting over him already, and he is only five!" Avni stopped giggling long enough to say "Koi mere bete ko unn ladkiyon se bachao!" before collapsing again, holding onto an already unsteady Rosh for support. Varun was leaning against the wall and holding Roshni, who was laughing so hard that tears were streaming down her cheeks. Prithvi was grinning and shaking his head, recollecting Sameer at the same age, when Pari decided she had had enough. Letting go of her father's hand, she stomped to the other children.
"Leave him now!" she said imperiously, pulling the braid of one girl and pinching the other. Impervious to their wailing, she pulled her brother from their clutches and escorted him to where the adults were standing. "Pari ne bhai ko bachaya!" she declared'

"Pari Saxena!!! Get back to your corner NOW" Damini hollered, as she saw Pari trying to sneak out. Pari pouted and dragged her feet back to the little chair in the corner. "You have been a very bad girl today" Damini continued scolding "Tumne unn ladkiyon ko kyun rulaya?" Scowling fiercely, Pari refused to look at her mother, muttering something that sounded like 'Pari good' Bhai ko bachaya'. "Apni galti Champ par mat thopo!" Damini yelled, looking at the small boy sitting next to his sister, head bowed. Softening her voice, she told Champ to watch over Pari and went out of the nursery intending to give her family a stern talking-to about how they were spoiling her daughter.
The family, however, was nowhere to be found. She supposed the cowards were hiding upstairs, where she had been banned from going by Prithvi since he had heard the news of her pregnancy. She huffed angrily, "Fine, keep hiding' Main bhi dekhti hoon ki kab tak upar baithte ho'" and went into her room, much to the relief of the hapless four who were huddled into Avni's room. Experience had taught them three years ago that while an angry Damini was a holy terror, a pregnant, angry Damini put a demonical monster to shame. "Abhi sirf jeej di ko sambhal sakte hain" Rosh said, clutching Varun tightly while Sameer and Avni prayed fervently for the well-being of the head of their little family. "May god be with my brother", Sameer said, shuddering dramatically'
Damini stalked to the bed, glaring daggers at the seemingly unconcerned man at the desk. The nerve of him! After encouraging her daughter to be the worst tomboy she had ever encountered, he was sitting there as if nothing had happened! "Two people can play at that game", she thought and decided to ignore him royally. Muttering under her breath, she got into bed, pulling the covers over her legs and picking up the half-read book on her nightstand.
Ten minutes later, she threw down the book on the bed, still cursing under her breath, much to the amusement of her husband. "Kya hua Damini?" he asked, trying to keep from smiling. She turned towards him, shooting him a nasty look before averting her face. Deciding it was time for some damage control, Prithvi put down his files and came to sit beside her. "Bolo na, kya hua?" he said gently, turning her face towards him lightly. Damini blushed at the look in his eyes and began to lean into his touch before she remembered that she was angry with him. Pushing him away, she declared "Main tumse bohot naraaz hoon", and turned away again, crossing her arms and pouting. Chuckling at this display of temper, Prithvi took her hand in his and brushed his lips against her knuckles, smirking when he heard her soft gasp. "Ab maine kya kar diya?" he asked. Damini desperately tried to regain control. "Tumne Pari ko ladne kyun diya?" she said, in a long-suffering tone. Prithvi laughed outright at that ' "Aww are you angry that your daughter isn't the perfect little lady you expected her to be?" he teased. Damini swatted his shoulder hard. "Stop that Prithvi' I'm serious. Pari is getting unmanageable'" she said petulantly.
Sobering up immediately, Prithvi scooted down the bed, and put her feet into his lap. Beginning to massage her ankles, he told her "There is nothing wrong with Pari, Damini. Woh ek intelligent, active ladki hai, who happens to know her mind, just like another girl I love". Damini relaxed slightly. It was hard to stay angry at a man who was so good at soothing her' Oh and that gorgeous smile and those intense eyes' She snapped back to attention again, shaking her head. "You are encouraging her to act like a boy ' always taking her to play with the horses and never saying a word when she gets into fights" she ranted. Prithvi grinned "Says the woman who didn't speak to me for two days when I wouldn't allow her to come to the stables' and who has been fighting with me since the day she met me". Damini made a face. "Woh main'" she started, but Prithvi cut her off. "Aur rahi aaj ki baat ' woh ladkiyaan Champ ko kheench rahi thi' They could have hurt him. I thought Pari showed a lot of presence of mind in rescuing her brother like that. In my eyes, that makes her a heroine", he said with a smirk. Damini looked at him incredulously "Heroine? She is a bully!" but Prithvi cut her off again. "She is three, Damini' Dheere dheere seekh jayegi. Stop fretting so much" he said, with a note of finality in his voice.
Damini closed her eyes, unwilling to argue anymore. His fingers had been working magic on her aching feet all this while, and she was feeling blissfully relaxed now. She felt the bed shift as Prithvi stretched out next to her, and looked down only to find him smiling saucily and wagging his eyebrows at her suggestively. "And now, Mrs. Saxena, how about we stop talking for a while?" he said lightly, pulling her into his arms. She laughed at that and hugged him tight, as his fingers began to run through her hair. "That seems a very good idea, Mr. Saxena", she whispered, smiling as he leaned in slowly'
Just then, the door slammed open and Prithvi sat up with a start. Pari was standing at the doorway, still looking slightly mutinous. "Time out khatam!" she proclaimed and rushed towards her parents. Prithvi caught her up with a rueful grin at his wife. Pari threw her arms around his neck and demanded a 'kissie'. After he set her down, she crawled to mother and kissed her nose "Mamma' abhi gussa khatam?" she asked sweetly. Damini melted at that and hugged her. "Haan baccha, abhi gussa khatam" she reaffirmed, "par mamma ko promise karo ki tum phir kabhi kisi ko nahin marogi'" Pari nodded vigorously "Promise mamma!" she smiled "Ab mujhe kissie do" Damini laughed and kissed her cheek. Pari scrambled down the bed, saying happily "Ab main bhai ke saath aur Rosh maasi ke saath kheloongi!" and rushed out. She stopped at the doorway and turned to look at her parents. "Papa, abhi mamma ko kissie dena ok?" she said, and ran out laughing, slamming the door behind her'
