FICTION 5

(This scene is my version of what I wish had happened that first night that Prida spent together after Prithvi woke up to find that Damini had fallen asleep on top of him.)

He awoke with a start blinking sleepily at the sudden brightness of the light coming from the side lamp. Passing a hand over his tired eyes Prithvi sighed and lay still trying to remember what it was that had awoken him so suddenly, but the strange dream was already fading away into oblivion and all he could recall was the overpowering feeling of fear and loss.

Shaking his head slightly, Prithvi tried to roll over and go back to sleep only to find himself pinned to the bed. Confused he looked down only to find his newly wedded wife asleep, one arm wrapped lightly around him with her head resting on top of his chest. Even as he watched she shifted in her sleep and snuggled deeper into his chest.

He stared at her mesmerized, unable to look away. Slowly he raised one hand and gently brushed her hair back tucking it behind her ear; softly, barely touching her, he caressed her cheek. This was his wife. His wife. This beautiful woman was his now. A small smile tugged at his lips and his eyes lit up with joy. In that moment, still half asleep, watching his beautiful wife sleep all other thoughts ceased to exist.

Bending his head he brushed a feather light kiss across her forehead. Damini stirred and softly breathed his name in her sleep, "Prithvi," before once more settling down. Leaning over he turned the lamp off before shifting into a more comfortable position. Wrapping one arm firmly around his wife he adjusted the sheets to cover both of them. Then pulling her closer, he closed his eyes and drifted off back to sleep, smiling as Damini snuggled closer.

It wasn't until the next morning when he woke up with a clearer head that he remembered his plan for revenge and the gut twisting feelings of guilt for holding this woman all night, be she his wife, once more took over and sent alarms going off through his head urging him to flee from the room. But even then he didn't leave until making sure that she was properly covered and settled comfortably in the bed. And as he started to close the door behind him, he felt himself pausing and glancing back to once more catch a glimpse of his beautiful wife, a look of longing in his eyes, wishing before he could stop himself that things could have been different.

FICTION 4

Written as a part of Prida scene contest

[Prelude : Prithvi and Damini agree to get married. The engagement is a month away, one fine day during the month.]

Prithvi walked into Gujral mansion and looked at his watch. Half past eight, he was never late. Another lesson his father taught him even when young, the value of time. He saw her on the walkway, leaning against the car going through some files. Damini Gujral, the MD of Gujral enterprises – his fianc he thought.

She saw him as he entered the gate, head held high, long strides, looking at his watch and the smile on his lips. Prithvi Saxena, hmmm ...she thought... her knight.

He walked up to her ''Good Morning', they both said together. Talking at the same time had become second nature these days.

'Prithvi, mein tumhara hi wait kar rahi thi. Today is long day, ek customer delegation aaye hue hai and kafi saare meetings bhi. Shayad mujhe shaam der ho jaye, Sochi tumse milkar jau.'

She tilted her head and added 'Mera din acha jayega'. He smiled. Was waiting only for that smile Prithvi, she said to herself.

'Bye for now'. She said out aloud.

He opened the door of the car for her to get in and said 'Take care , will wait for you.'

She drove off and he stood there, hands folded on his chest, for a long time. Where was she all these days, he thought to himself. Why did he have to meet her in such circumstances? Why did she have to be Ila Gujral's daughter? Why did he have to fall for her ?

The day was long and by the time he slumped into the chair at the security room it was well past evening. Apart from a few messages from Damini, he had not heard from her. He decided to meet her before he called it a day.

He knocked at her door, getting no response he slowly pushed the door open. The room was dark except for a small lamp near the bedside. He saw her slumped on the sofa, feet curled up, face resting on her hands – lost to the world, asleep. She looked tired, but beautiful, her face radiated the glow of love. She was in love with him and he knew that. The smile on her lips said that. He stood there looking at her for a while, reached out to brush strands of hair off her face, but decided against it. Instead he got the covers from the bed carefully putting them on her – making sure not to wake her up, before whispering 'Good night, Damnee'.

He closed the door behind him and felt disappointed. He had wanted to be with her for a while talk to her ... just hold her.

He made sure he left the keys at the right place and was out on the pathway walking towards the gate when something made him look up to her window. He saw her, standing by the window looking down at him. He just had to look at her to feel on the top of the world, she just had to tilt her head and smile at him to make him feel like a King. When she was around the world faded away and it was just him and his princess. And now she was going to be his wife, he thought. The happiness scared him at times.

He wanted to go back and take her in his arms. He just wanted to sit with her and talk to her, wanted to share all his worries and troubles with her. He wanted her to know how much he loved her, what she had come to mean to him in these few months. But he just stood there, hand on his hips looking up to the window.

Quite sensing that he was missing her, she smiled and waved. Then something struck her and she let her dupatta fly away from the window. He didn't quite comprehend what was happening initially, then, he knew, she did it on purpose. He made sure that he got her dupatta – remembering how angry she was the last time. He folded the dupatta, pushed it in his pocket this time, smiled at her and walked away.

*TEARS OF BLOOD*

Prithvi Saxena fell to the floor as his knees gave away, a dull thud sounding through the room as bone met wood. He closed his eyes as the past flashed before his eyes...

They had gone for their evening walk laughing and chattering as they shared with each other the days events, they had stopped at the end of a road to get some ice cream when he had reached for his wallet he realized that it was missing as he had scanned the area for any sign of it he saw it lying across the road.. It must have fallen out of my pocket while we were crossing the road he thought making a mental note to be more careful in the future. "Damini I dropped my wallet while we were crossing you stay put right here while I get it" he said "okay... Hurry back" she replied giving him a swift kiss on the cheek...

He opened his eyes and touched the spot where her lips had made contact with his skin… It seemed like a million years had passed since the occurrence of that one moment. He drew in a ragged breath and slammed his fist against the ground, his fingers ached but he barely noticed... a lone tear made its way down his face...

He hummed as he crossed the road at leisure chuckling a little at his own behavior… the things a man does when he's in love he thought shaking his head a little. Suddenly there was a screeching of tires and he heard a shout at the very same instant "prithvi look out!" Damini shouted he turned sideways to find a truck making its way toward him, before he could react a pair of soft hands grabbed him and pushed him away and he fell to the ground. The truck had missed him but it had hit something much more precious, much more important. He got up ignoring the pain in his arm as he saw his wife lying on the road, broken and shattered like waxwork a pile of blood slowly gathering around her. He rushed towards her blindly and kneeled down beside her. With great care he lifted her head and placed it in his lap. He slapped her face lightly "Damini..? Damini wake up Damini..." He said to her tenderness lining his tone as he wiped away the blood on her face with trembling fingers "damini... Wake up its me Prithvi.. Your Prithvi... Wake up..." He whispered gently shaking her but there was no response. He bent down and kissed her forehead and a tear fell on her it. "Please… Please wake up... Please…" He whispered in agony. "Prithvi..." Damini murmured weakly as her eyes fluttered open. He lifted his face at once to look at his wife to find her smiling up at him. I knew you would come... I knew you wouldn't leave me he said returning the smile "come on we have got to get you to the hospital." He said as he tried to lift her up in his arms. Slowly Damini reached out and touched his face her fingers shaking due the effort. "No… Stay with me..." She breathed. He reached out and grasped her fingers pulling them towards his lips "I'm with you sweetheart... And I will be till the end… But first we have got to get you to a hospital." He said to her. "Sshh... I don't want to go Prithvi... Just stay with me here..." She whispered

"Please..?" She murmured as he made another attempt to lift her up. Slowly he nodded, kissing her fingers again. She pulled his face slowly towards hers and their foreheads met their tears mixing, combining and uniting reflecting the union of their souls, their hearts. She pulled his face downward and kissed him on the forehead "I love you Prithvi... No matter what happens I will be there... And we will be together..." She murmured then she kissed him on the lips softly "I love you." she breathed. He pressed his lips against her gently returning the kiss "I love you too damini..." He whispered his breath fanning across her mouth; she smiled and took his face in her hands caressing it all the while looking into his eyes her love for him reflecting in them. Then she pushed him back a little so she that could see his face. A smile formed on her lips, her eyes fluttered close and she collapsed. Prithvi simply stared as her weight pressed to the ground, he stroked her forehead softly "That's right sweetheart you are tired aren't you but don't go to sleep just yet we have to go home Na and you still have your favorite ice cream to finish. its vanilla with a sprinkling of chocolate chips.. Just the way you like it. Now be a good girl and wake up..." He said addressing her all the while stroking her forehead. A car horn sounded startling him bringing him back to Earth. He stared at the crumpled figure of Damini Saxena, his wife. And reality hit him. That Damini was not going to wake up. That she was gone. That never again would those hands touch him, never again would those eyes open and never again would those lips smile at him kiss him... "No! No! You can't! You can't go! You can't leave me like this! You said that we would be together! You promised!" He shouted shaking her roughly. "Wake up, wake up Damini! How dare you leave me! You can't leave me! You can't even live without me..! No..." He whispered fiercely as he gathered her up in his arms pressing her limp figure against him "How could I let this happen..! Why did you save me..? Why didn't you just let me die..! I promised that I would protect you... I'm sorry... I'm sorry for breaking my promise… I'm sorry... Itni naraz hogai mujhse..? I promise I wont do it again." he said shaking his head like a child asking for forgiveness as he caressed her face in his hands "I promise ill give you everything that you want.. Anything that you want. Just please come back. Please? For me..? For us..?" He whispered raggedly... But something inside him had already broken... The knife in his heart which was slowly digging in deeper and deeper... Making a hole in his heart, cutting it in pieces knew that she wasn't coming back… His heart knew that the one it used to beat for did not beat anymore... That life had seeped out of it like it had seeped out of its owner... Slowly he got up carrying her in his arms as walked like a blind man staggering every few steps his eyes still searching her face... For a sign... A sign of life... Of hope...

"But there was no sign.. She's gone... Gone forever..." He whispered as his eyes opened again... He found himself standing, his arms in midair holding nothing but a memory... He sank to the floor again his legs unable to offer any support... "I'm sorry..." He cried out joining his hands together as fresh tears made their way down his face… "I'm sorry... Please come back to me... Please... Don't you love me anymore..? Don't you?" He cried out in a choked voice. "How could I let this happen..? How could I let her go..? Why didn't I help her fight it…? Why?" he sobbed brokenly "It's your entire fault! He shouted now addressing the heavens... I hate you..! I'm never ever going to forgive you...! Never..! He said ferociously. Then suddenly he quieted down "she's with you now..." He mumbled "Please take care her… She believed in you so much… Please take care of her... Please don't break her faith like I did... Don't break your promise like I did... Please" he said in a broken pleading tone. He half dragged himself to the nearby table and grabbed a bottle of alcohol and downed a quarter of it in a single gulp, barely acknowledging the way it burnt his throat. He laid down on the cold hard floor tremors running up his body as he started to sob again. There was a flash of silver and his head jerked up. He saw a small box lying on the mantelpiece. Something about it drew him towards the mantle piece and he half crawled towards it. Taking the box in his trembling hands he opened it with shaking fingers... It carried a deep red powder... The powder with which he had put his mark on her... Which claimed that Damini Gujral was his and his alone. There was a sudden movement to his left and he turned his face towards it. Suddenly he found a pair of brown eyes gazing back at him... She was there.. Smiling back at him... Involuntarily a smile reached his lips... "You are here…" He said, Exhilaration sweeping through his veins. His fingers took a pinch of the sindoor and reached towards her maang… There was another flash and suddenly she was gone. His fingers still clung to the red powder, his hand mere inches away from where her forehead had been moments ago. His fingers let go of the powder and it blew into his face. He stared at his reddened fingers unable to believe that it had all been a mere figment of his imagination. He reached for the bottle of alcohol and smashed it on the floor with a snarl. Alcohol gathered around him... He picked up a broken piece of glass from the pile and closed it in his fist increasing his hold on it until blood began to seep from his palm... Yet the pain was barely comparable to the pain that was inside him, eating away at what was left of his heart and his soul. He let go of the glass as it failed to serve its purpose of causing him pain. His eyes fell on a lighter which was lying on the mantle piece and he grabbed it... He stared at it for a while… Then flicked it open... There first meeting flashed before his eyes... When he had seen her for the first time holding out a gun at him... He flicked the lighter off. A few seconds later he flicked it on again recalling there second meeting when she had set Toofan loose on him and he had grabbed her by the waist to keep her out of harm's way. Her closeness had taken his breath away then… And he had been entranced by her… Almost Bewitched... He put the lighter out again... For the next ten minutes he repeated the process, recalling each and everyone one of their meetings... The hatred... The undeniable attraction... The sparks... The fine and subtle touches of respect and admiration... And then the pain, the care... And finally love... Their journey… Their tale. And then, the accident. The one moment in which he was sure that she was still there and then suddenly she was not... And then he was no longer there either… There was no fire left... And no ice either... As tears streamed down his face he let go of the lighter... The Fire made contact with the alcohol setting it ablaze... He barely noticed as a ring of fire formed around him... He hugged his knees... Shaking... And whispering the same word over and over again... "Damini... Damini..." He barely noticed as his shirt started to burn... And then she came, floating a few inches above the ground, Wrapped in a white sari which spoke volumes of her incomprehensible beauty… She kneeled in front off him and took his face in her hands gently wiping away his tears... "Sssh..," She whispered. "I'm here now. It's going to be okay. I am here. I never broke my promise Prithvi and neither did you... The day you promised you would protect me and take care of me I made a similar promise that I would protect you from every harm as well... I was just fulfilling the promise I made you." she told him. "I didn't break any promises?" he asked like a child asks for reassuration. "No you never did..." She said smiling at him warmly... He placed his head in her lap, as fresh sobs shook him... "I knew it... I knew you would come back…," He cried... "Take me... Take me with you" he whispered as his eyes closed. She stroked his forehead gently "I promised you didn't I that no matter what happens we will be together... If not in life... Then in death..." She said... She helped him stand... "Come..." She said smiling as she tilted her head... He put his hand in hers... And slowly she led him... To their very own paradise. True love does not end in life... It begins in death. The burnt body of Prithvi Saxena was found when his house was searched after news of the fire reached his family. Despite his severe burns, Prithvi Saxena had a slight smile on his face. He was finally at peace.
Well thats it! i know its pretty long😳 waiting for you feedback!😃😃

FICTION 5

...Written for the PriDa scene contest...

Prithvi froze – Damini knew – she knew everything – the whole sordid truth.

He did not know what to do. He had seen Damini cry, but he had never seen her like this – crushed and completely broken – and he had done this to her.

"Go away, Prithvi" she said, breathing heavily, trying to control her tears. She did not want to cry, not before him, not for him, but she couldn't help it – tears stung her eyes.

He couldn't - he couldn't just go away – not when she was breaking.

"Damini?" he asked, cautiously placing his hand on her shoulder

"Don't touch me"

It was as if someone had plunged a knife into his heart.

Damini lifted her head and looked at him. The knife in his heart twisted and twisted till it felt as if there was a gaping hole in his heart,

"Damini…" he breathed.

For the rest of his life he would not forget her face – her hair was strewn around her face in limp strands – limp because it was drenched by her tears. Her lips were quivering; the tears were rolling down her cheeks, leaving their trail. And her eyes – her eyes asked him a dozen questions.

I thought you cared about me. Was that all just superficial? How could you do this to me?

He could no longer look at her; he closed his eyes. He felt as if a part of him was dying too.

" After everything you've done, Prithvi, can you do one more thing for me?"

The part of him that was dying was now completely dead. Her voice – so full of pain, so full of regret – it killed him.

He had never hated anybody in his life like he hated himself at this moment.

He nodded, "anything" he said, not able to look at her.

"Leave"

Prithvi looked at her now – she meant it and she wanted it. He was unable to speak, he nodded and locked eyes with hers – he hoped she would understand what he was trying to say – I'm sorry, Damini.

He couldn't take it any longer; he stood up and walked away.

****
Prithvi stopped and turned to get one last look at his wife before he left.
She had dropped her head on her knees again.

He ached to take her in his arms, tell her everything would be okay. He ached to kiss those tears off her face. But he couldn't do anything like that – not now, not ever.

He had lost her – forever.

He'd often wondered why his life had been so complicated. Why he had gotten himself into a situation that would hurt Damini? Why he'd messed everything up by falling for her?

Now he knew – Damini was right, it was destiny – they were destined to meet and fall in love.

"I love you, Damini" he muttered – his voice raspy against the darkness, there was a sudden gush of wind and she looked up.

Their eyes held for a couple of seconds, before Prithvi turned around and walked out of her life, but leaving a part of him with her – forever.

****
Damini watched as Prithvi walked away, she felt heavy – she felt like her life was gone - forever.

He made her smile, he made her feel special, and he made her so happy. And today he had killed her hope, killed her happiness and the life out of her.

Their relationship was nothing but a huge lie – she was used. That was the only truth of their life together. She ought to feel rage – but she was too numb – all she felt was emptiness – a huge void.

She didn't know what life had in store for her now; she doubted she and Prithvi could ever be one again.

All she knew was the pain that coursed through her body and shook her to her very being. Along with the pain came a feeling so strong that she knew that minute that she was trapped.

That minute, seeing Prithvi walk away, she knew that she still loved him – she still loved the man who she ought to hate.

Why couldn't she even hate him? Why did she still love him?

The answer came to her in an instant.

It was destiny
