Rajeev talks about his dream woman < name=feed>

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

Small screen heart-throb Rajeev Khandelwal talks about the woman of his dreams.

What ideal qualities would you want in your woman?
My woman should be very feminine, unlike some females today who try to be a man.

Would you prefer a homemaker or a working woman?
Working woman any day. In this age, no self-respecting woman would want to depend on her man for anything.

Hottest getaway with her?
I would want to go the world's coldest place with the hottest chick. However, I would avoid mentioning names because all the women who are on my mind right now are either married or seeing someone.

Would you go for a live-in relationship if necessary?
No, I would not be comfortable with a live-in. I would rather get married to the lady, rather than just move in with her. I believe in commitment, while live-ins give the liberty to call it quits very easily.

How would you woo your woman?
I would bring my love home and cook a beautiful candle-light dinner for her. A cosy twosome is much better than a restaurant full of strangers.

If you find your partner having a fling with your best friend, what would you do?
I would quietly walk away. And hope that I never ever cross their path again in life.

Would you allow your future wife to wear short outfits?
If she looks beautiful, sure, but no way, if she looks inviting.

Are men from Mars and women from Venus?
No, both are from bloody Earth.

If most women don't like the supposed dominating nature of men, what is the one trait in women that turns you off?
When women say 'you are not my type'. At such times, I really wonder what type they are.

Your take on spineless and polygamous saas bahu men?
Ouch! Thank God, I am not one of them.

Grin and bare it, Gaurav

< content=07/25/2007 name=date>
Gaurav Chopra was asked to go shirtless more than five times in the past 10 days in Left Right Left

Gaurav Chopra who plays Captain Abhimanyu Singh in DJ's Left Right Left will soon be touted as the Salman Khan of television. These days the actor is seen without his shirt more often than before. Since the actor has a good body, and the creative heads want to make good use of it, in the last 10 days, Gaurav was asked to take off his shirt at least five times in his show Left Right Left. Shirtless, he has acquired a newfound tag on the sets - he's called Salman Khan.

Says Gaurav, "It is a physical show and requires me to take my shirt off, very often. In the past 10 days, I think I've had to take off the shirt more than five times. The scenes require me to exercise, go for training and dance in the rain. This has been happening quite regularly and will be happening again this week. I have been shooting round the clock and going to the gym to get back into shape and keep fit."

Gaurav doesn't quite relish the idea of being used as a muscle-man all the time. However, he says diplomatically, "I should not complain much as I have been getting a lot of SMSs from my female fans and also on Orkut, where they say that they want to see more of me in this bare-dare avatar. And my co-actors are calling me 'Salman' these days."

"I guess this is needed because the show depicts my character's coming of age from a cheerful young man to a mature, macho guy," he adds.

A bond that binds
5 Aug 2007, 0000 hrs IST,AKASH WADHWA and ERAM AGHA ,TNN

On this Friendship Day, LT asks celebs to spell out what friendship means to them

When we talk of friendship, many such bonds come to one's mind - ranging from Jai and Veeru in the 70s classic Sholay to Saif, Aamir and Akshaye Khanna's trio in Dil Chahta Hai. However, friendships are not just limited to reel life.

It's our friends who make life worth living. Everyone - right from the common man to celebs - would agree that one who finds a friend, finds a treasure.

So on this World Friendship Day LT talks to celebs in the tinsel town to find out what friendship means to them and to what extent are they willing to go for their friends.

Talking about her friends, Singer Raageshwari says, "I have many acquaintances but few friends. And my friends and I know that we can call and rely on each other at any place, anytime." Her idea of friendship is all about mutual bonding. "I truly believe it's all about give and take. I also rely on deep honesty in the form of advice, criticism and frank opinions from my friends."

The style icon of small screen, Aamna Shariff, believes, "Friends are everything for me and I would not like to wait for any special day to make them feel how special they are to me." She further tells us, "No doubt Rajeev Khandelwal is that one person in my life who is very close to my heart and is my best friend."

Model Zulfi Syed, who makes many a heart skip a beat, is more into male bonding. His heart beats for his close friend Shawar Ali. Says Zulfi, "Shawar Ali is like a family member to me and I think one needs to give 100 per cent where friends are concerned."

For Sveta Salve, dancing queen of Jhalak Dikhlaja, friends come right next after her family. She quips, "I will never hesitate to go out of my way for my pals as they mean a lot to me."

And though you find her bickering non-stop on the small screen, Jaya Bhattacharya is a different person when it comes to real life friends. "For me, friendship is all about accepting a person the way he is.

I would not go around with a chisel to make changes to my friend's face. Besides, loyalty is what strengthens and makes friendship go a long way."

Shefali Zariwala, the Kaanta Laga girl, has a huge gang of pals but only a few close friends. She says, "I've been blessed that I have such good friends who can go to any extent to help me." She finds friendship to be the foundation on which the edifice of relationship is built. She adds, "For me friendship is very important and no relationship can go a long way sans the bond of friendship."

'Wearing short skirts on TV doesn't make you cheap!'

Aparna Tilak isn't sorry that she isn't wearing a sari on the small screen

HARSHADA REGE

Aparna Tilak is probably one of the few women on television who doesn't have to wear saris and heavy jewellery on screen. The actress plays an army doctor in SAB's Left Right Left and sports short skirts and shirtdresses. And she definitely isn't complaining. "I love wearing the clothes that my character has to wear. I think it's a good change for me. Not that I mind wearing saris. I think a sari can make a woman look infinitely hot, but I guess this works well for me. I think people can easily make out the difference between what's looking cute, sensual or cheap. Wearing short skirts on TV doesn't make you cheap!" she feels. Aparna, who's always been outspoken, finds the current track in the serial very exciting. "The romance between an older man and a young girl has been explored many times. But an older woman and young boy relationship has not been explored much. That's why the equation between my character Dr Shalini and Yudi, who's a cadet, is something that everyone's finding very interesting," she says. Aparna reveals that though initially they were hesitant to focus on such a relationship, it has now been accepted by the audience. In fact, Aparna says that even her son finds the chemistry between the two cute. "He keeps saying 'Mom, Yudi likes you'," she laughs adding, "Besides most guys will tell you that they had their first crush on some school teacher. It's not just because they are physically attracted to a woman, but also because like girls their age an older woman doesn't judge them." However, Aparna insists that they make sure that the student-teacher relationship doesn't look frivolous. While Aparna is happy with her TV career, her plans to do theatre haven't materialised yet. "I realised that I can't give enough time for rehearsals and I don't want to do anything half-heartedly, especially theatre. I may be taking on some new projects, but the talks are still on," she says.

Rajeev Khandelwal is ready to leave the show by marching out 'Left Right Left'.
Posted: Jul 10th 2007 by Kimaya De

Millions fell in love with him when he played Sujal in 'Kahin To Hoga' and he made people fall in love with him yet again as he played Captain Rajveer Singh Shikhawat in 'LRL'.

But, looks like the romance seems to coming to an end as Rajeev's character in the show is likely to end in a couple of weeks. The big question however is; why Rajeev is leaving the show? The actor responded by saying, "I don't believe in being greedy and sticking on, when it is time to move. Why should we be scared of breaking new grounds? Also, in the present setup of 'LRL', I don't think Rajveer should continue for very long."

Rajeev however; feels that he would miss working in 'LRL' as the entire team is great but, the actor believes that there is no need for his character to just hang around until the audiences reach a point that they stop watching the show.

Rajeev promises that he will be back on screen with something more exciting and we will keep you posted on his next venture.

Almost three months ago Chavi Mittal was very excited about entering Left Right Left. Unfortunately this won't be possible for her anymore as there is no place for her character in the soap now. She was initially supposed to play Nandini, an etiquette consultant for the LRL cadets. Nandini also happens to be the ex-girlfriend of their favourite teacher, Capt. Rajveer played by Rajeev Khandelwal. But now, since the character of Rajveer who was supposed to be her love interest will soon exit from the show in another four days, there's no chance of a role for Nandini.

"Initially, my entry in LRL was delayed by a few weeks and then later I was informed that the character has been dropped because the show is doing very well and there was no space for another character. But they left it open, hinting there may be a change in the near future. With daily soaps, one can't really say anything for sure," says Chavi.

With Viraasat having gone off air recently Chavi is looking for interesting work. "There are a few offers and if LRL doesn't happen soon then I will take up another show," she says.

"I will soon be out of Left Right Left" - Rajeev Khandelwal

He's one of the sexiest hunk on the small screen. Rajiv Khandelwal, who rose to fame as Sujal from Kahiin to Hoga is now being seen as the smart Rajveer Singh in SAB's Left Right Left. Rachna Trivedi got an exlusive tete-e-tete with this elusive star .

About Rajveer Singh Shekhawat'
"I admire this character and love to experiment with myself. It's been more than a year for me on this show and now its time for me to leave. Though, I was supposed to leave the show earlier as my contract got over but I stayed back due to public and the producer's demand. Independence Day episode will me my farewell episode. LRL has a great team but I have to move ahead."

What's next?
"After LRL I will be taking a break. I want to rejuvenate myself again and stay away from limelight. I haven't signed any new project till now. I don't want to be sasta and easy accessible for the audiences as then my charm will go away. Viewers will have to wait for sometime to see me again. I am waiting for a meaty role to come my way. However, I have received many offers but nothing excites me. I will not be doing any saas-bahu and the tried and tested roles," declares Rajiv.

On being Sujal'
I don't want to sell myself as a romantic actor. Sujal was popular but I want to shed my "boy next door" image. After Kahin'I did Time Bomb, Deal No Deal and some cameo roles. I have portrayed different images in every show and will continue to do so. Sujal is very close to my heart as it made me a star overnight. But I don't want to be remembered as Sujal anymore.

Bollywood calling'
Currently, I am not doing any films. It's just that I am waiting for a good role to come my way. However, talks are on with some producers. People call me the SRK of television but I know I am not even half of it. It's very scary. Audience has high expectations from me and I will not let them down.

About link ups with co-actors'
I am always linked with my co-stars but it does not bother me as I have realized that it's a part and parcel of fame. At present I am single who is ready to mingle. I have received many offers but I am waiting for the right kind of girl. I am in search of a simple girl who can understand me. She should be shy, loving and caring."

Rajeev Khandelwal will finally bid adieu to Left Right Left on August 15. In fact his role was supposed to end on July 25 itself but Rajeev agreed to stay on till August 15 because the producer wanted to end the character on the eve of India's 60th Independence Day. "Rajveer Shekhawat is a patriotic soldier. It was my producer's wish to end the character on August 15 and hence I agreed to the request," he says, adding, "I'm happy that I did Left Right Left. It may not have been a very popular show but it's being widely talked about. It's a different, classy show and people have loved it. It's not a regular drama so it can't go on and on," he says.

Talking about his role, Rajeev says since the story is based on an Army training academy, logically Rajveer Shekhawat who came to the academy on a mission should have been posted out to another front. "Honestly speaking, I felt the story was not moving ahead and my character was not going anywhere. I felt the character was being dragged on for no valid reason. My contract was for one year and though I have worked beyond my contract I felt it was high time to bid adieu before the character stagnated and lost its appeal. I am not opting out for another role; neither is the character going to be replaced with another actor," he clarifies.

Viewers will be disappointed because finally, when Naina Singh falls madly in love with Rajveer, his role is ending.

"Currently the love track is being played out but it's not going to end like a conventional love story. In fact, there is hardly any time left for the love angle! Naina will express her love but it's too late for anything to happen," says Rajeev who is clueless about how his character will end.

Quiz him on whether he is too demanding an actor, given the fact that he has the habit of re-looking at his role and revisiting the script time and again, he says, "One should always take a second look at one's work every now and then instead of just following the script that comes to you. I find it very surprising when people question my intelligence, respect and commitment I have for my work. I don't make unreasonable demands. But when I am entertaining millions of people who love my work and have given me a certain position I can't let them down by being a part of the herd."

SAB Ka Bheja Fry!
SAB TV is coming up with a new comedy show.

SAB brings innovation in the way comedy is presented on television with SAB Ka Bheja Fry . The 22-minute programme will have three sitcoms of four minutes each from Mon to Thu at 10 pm.

These will be punctuated by hilarious gags from one of several fresh characters. The sitcoms are SAB Ka Boss (the story of an office loser), Oudhvasta (the third epic of India which was never told), and Ustad Janab (the story of two self-obsessed, poker-faced and dim-witted policemen).

The gags will be presented by amusing characters like Rakhi Sawant — the world's biggest loser when it comes to making girlfriends; Muft ka Chandan — the biggest miser; Feroze Faltu — a don in his dreams; Tension Tambi — who always has a reason to worry for no reason at all; and, Laila Majnu — a gorgeous babe with no takers.

As per findings of a research conducted by SAB which covers Pan India, 60 per cent of television audience is below the age of 35; also, today's youth has a very short attention span and hence the novel concept of packaged entertainment.

Says comedian and filmmaker Satish Kaushik, "I have seen the hoardings of Tension Tambi , I found him to be a very fresh, funny and yet relatable character. I am happy that this show will offer characters like these. It is definitely something fresh and different."

In total agreement is the much-acclaimed writer and director Raj Kumar Hirani who adds. I have seen the promos, there seem to be some interesting and fresh characters. The show looks different from the regular mimicry shows."

According to Anooj Kapoor, Business Head, SAB, the inclusion of SAB Ka Bheja Fry completes the bouquet of fresh programming that they want to cater to the youth.

"If you stand near a bunch of youngsters, you will realise that the predominant flavour of their conversation is laughter. So, along with shows like Left Right Left, 4 and Anurag Basu's Love Story, which show a different gamut of emotions like love, friendship and patriotism, we decided to include comedy," he says. "Another deviation from other comedy shows on other channels is that we are not resorting to any mimicry, spoof or cheap toilet humour. Strong comedy is created by strong comedy characters and characters that the audience can relate to and keep wanting to come back to," adds Anooj.

Next on the anvil is SAB website, which will be an online youth hangout, designed keeping the aspirations, sentiments and needs of Indian youth in mind. Rajeev Khandelwal, who's acting in Left Right Left , says of SAB's programming, "SAB has been a leader in every aspect. They have not only reached out to the youth, an untapped and ignored category, but are doing it in a manner that connects with them through its innovative programming."

Rajeev Khandelwal

Television's lover boy Rajeev Khandelwal is all set to make his debut in Rajkumar Gupta's film tentatively titled film Aamir, which is incidentally a thriller. Although Rajeev aka Sujal is known to have a romantic image, his first film will have not any leading lady with no romantic angle whatsoever. Anurag is the executive producer of the film. The rest of the casting is underway.

Anurag Kashyap says, "Rajeev is probably the only actor on television right now who has all the potential to be a huge star and is complete star material. Aamir is Rajkumar's script. He's been my associate in Black Friday and No Smoking. I strongly feel that he has to make a film now and Rajeev fits the bill for his film."

Kashyap added, "Aamir is a thriller and we intend to make it a real time film. It is a thriller which deals with terrorism and there is no leading lady or a love story in the film. Rajeev plays the main lead and will be there in every frame of the film."

Rajeev says, "I am yet to sign the film but I have met him. I'd be a fool to refuse a film offered by him."
