And here it is, what we've been waiting for. The battle to supposedly end all battles. The ultimate showdown between the two big wigs of PV: Dutta vs Kala.

Everyone get your popcorn ready, things are about to go down!

nooo abhi nehin.. delay hai.. was preoccupied with family issues.

I liked this episodes, it was in many senses that 'calm' before the storm. That anticipation, before a result. That build up to a battle/fight. It really set the foundation for what I assume is supposed to be biggest moment in the history of LTL (aside from naku's real face revealled)

Having said that there are a few things I felt were a bit rushed. (Yes rushed.) Yes, me-the one who notoriously complained about the lack of pace feels like something was rushed. Of course I know why it was, context wise to crudely put it, they couldn't wait to oust MR and in my eyes bring on their own barbaadi. But hey-ho. Spilled milk and all that.

What I felt was rushed was: one; Dutta's eye sight restoration-I'd have liked to see more going into preparing the herbal medicine, and I'd have liked to glorified and/or brought to light that side of healing more. I'd have liked more in terms of how it takes time for his eyes to adjust. Maybe at first he see's little then it builds, or maybe he needs to protect his eyes from light at first etc etc. I'd have liked to see his frustrations. As Hammie pointed out, indeed Dutta expected his wife to pray and her prayers to be answered immediately, because she is a devotee, so ergo in the order of things, her prayers should be fast tracked. I'd have liked to have seen him frustrated at how long the medicine would take to take it's effect and that frustration to be exacerbated. As each time/moment spent waiting for the medicine to take it's effect was a second too long away from his wife and family.

All of that could easily have been done sooner, I honestly feel we had to much time in between, from the moment, he was up and walking with Seema to him reuniting with Naku, all of that could have been consolidated and more of a focus should have been put on his healing whether that be physical in terms of regaining his eyesight or spiritual in terms of becoming forgiving.

also Shall I not point out how on Earth they found Dutta's attire in the middle of the jungle? I mean where did they go: 'Gangsters 'R' Us' which is right next to the fruit shop from which Dutta bought all that exotic fruit for Naku back in JMM1 days? (nit picking-yes, but I'm allowed too! ;P)

Dutta~Naku

Episode 306

22^nd March 2011

In the forest

Dutta sits poised on the white stallion.. surrounded by the villagers with raised swords! Dutta winds the reins around his hands and prays, Aye Jagdammba! give us all your blessings !and chants of long live Shiva ! sound off as the battle cry and Dutta's adrenalin flows and he kicks the sides his stallion and his horse begins to trot off!. The armed men follow him as he trots out of the village.. the women folk watch them leave for the battle.

Sudarshan's welcome committee

Sudarshan checks with his BG if they have taken all the right security measures to combat Dutta's arrival.. the BG are scattered ready for skirmish.. one of them asks Sudarshan if Dutta will actually turn up? Sudarshan replies, oh he will come! Dutta's no coward! he'll come to save his wife and family! so Sudarshan understands the definition of a committed family man.. pity he badly falls short of this both as a father and a husband.

Dutta to the battlefield

Dutta's horse is on the trot as he comes out of the forest muddy path with the villagers behind him following of foot. Sudarshan mock 's Dutta , with his body guards , Dutta will arrive like a king and reach the red valley like a beggar! so let him come! whichever route he uses to come, it'll be us who'll welcome him! Sudarshan laughs like a hyena.

Dutta's horse appears on the bend and the trot changes to canter! and the villagers too pick up speed.

Suddenly Dutta stops and signals to his friends to stop as well. Dutta warns, Mahadev bhai !Kala is very wily! she must have set traps definitely, therefore its best we don't travel together, we move in small groups... and then he canters ahead.

Kala at the battlefield

Kala sits on her throne while Dutta's family stand huddled together to her side. They all look out for Dutta's arrival. So does Kala. Then her BG s under gunpoint usher Dutta's family, to stage with three black chairs. Kala walks to them and says, congrtaulations! vahini Sahib! Aye Sahib, Baji rao! Dutta loves you three a bit too much? that's why for you three I have made special arrangements! Gaikwad ! with full honours, take these three to the their thrones! Gaikwad, yells at Baji , hey move it! and they make Naku, Aye Sahib , Baji sit on the black embellished chairs. While Kishore and the sisters are also placed behind them under gunpoint. Kala looks at Dutta's family much amused. Tie the rest of them ! all are then bound with ropes even Naku, Baji ,Aye Sahib..

Sudarshan in the forest

Sudarshan checks the vantage point. One of his men hides is the bush.. while Tana hides behind a tree with a sword held high, signals to his men carrying swords and spears to move on.. as coast is clear! Mahadev too stands with a drawn sword ready for attack. Tana leads on his men for ambush under cover of the foliage! Ranga moves stealthily at another front...leads his group of men.

Then suddenly Dutta's horse comes galloping round the corner! The BG s run when they hear the hoofs of his horse! one BG comes in his way and Dutta slashes him out of the way and he falls by the way side! as Dutta rides ahead. Other BGs from where they are, Tana overpowers one BG who is about to shoot Dutta ! another villager attacks a BG and kills him! Sudarshan looks around , unaware of what was going on. Then Dutta comes trotting on.. and looks around as he reins in .. a BG pulls his gun at Dutta's back.. Dutta notices and pulls his dagger from his arm and hurls it straight at the BG! Sudarshan looks at a clearing before him and pulls his gun out ! Bhola jumps on another BG s back from the side of the tree . Bhola throws a spear at another! and the BG shouts. Sudarshan screws his eyes. Another village shoots an arrow at a BG perched up on a tree, and the BG falls off the branch! Mahadev slashes a BG with his sword.

At the battlefield

Aye Sahib sits with her hands bound by ropes.. looking out for Dutta! Kala waits! .Gaikwad looks at Baji who glares at him! eyeee Baji ! why are you glaring at me? I'll gauge your eyes out of your sockets! lower your eyes got it? Kala butts in, let it be gaikwad! at least let the two friends meet! and what good are two blind men to me? Baji yells, Kala! she calls, what do you think Aye Sahib? haven't I given you three the most choicest seats, hope I haven't overlooked anything?.. but have to say Aye Sahib.. your dearest son won't be able to make it up to here! hope your hopes aren't still high that your Dutta will come and redeem you? Baji mocks, hey Kala! just me on my own! is enough for this army of yours! fantastic Baji.. listening to you , I am reminded of an old saying ,as poor as a pauper , but the arrogance still remains! just look around the place is a mine field of dynamite there's a a time bomb ticking away near the family.. on the pebble riddled ground before the family is a incendiary device!.. Kala scoffs, which ever routes your Dutta takes, he will be welcomed by mines and a dynamite!.. all that needs to be seen now is who will the first to die? Baji grinds his teeth listening to Kala.

In the forest

Mahadev and his men creep closer to Sudarshan's look out post, he can see Sudarshan and the rest of his men are armed. Sudarshan poses before the bonnet of his cherry red jeep! flanked by two body guards. .. Sudarshan moans, where the hell is he?? and he looks up to the neighbouring tree and finds it unmanned! using his binoculars to locate his posted BG .. they are missing he looks down on the ground and finds the BG struck dead on the ground! his mouth drops and he yells ,kale! mathre! he can come from anywhere! Mahadev notes the BG posted near Sudarshan, who grinds his teeth and yells, Dutta ! Dutta! Duttaaa! and he fires a shot in the air!.. suddenly. Mahadev's sword sweeps his gun out of his hand! but he ducks Mahadev's strike and restrains him against the bonnet of his jeep. Then he punches Mahadev across his face! hurls him to the side.. then Sudarshan picks up his gun and aims it at Mahadev! ...

but a shining blade blocks Sudarshans's gun! Dutta mounted on his horse glares down at Sudarshan! who looks up at Dutta's furious face from behind the blade of Dutta's sword! Both stare at each other while, Mahadev smiles at Sudarshan's worried expression!.. Dutta yanks his sword up! Sudarshan's gun drops out of his hand! and the impact throws Sudarshan off balance! Dutta looks at him, stretches his leg and kicks Sudarshan right in his belly! and Sudarshan slams back against his the bonnet of his jeep!

Dutta dismounts and walks towards Sudarshan who yells , kill him! but Mahadev's men surround them and chase the two BG away! and Sudarshan yells, where the hell are you running off to shoot him? and Dutta slowly walks to confront Sudarshan.. Mahadev's men close in.. behind Sudarshan as he begins to back off from the overbearing Dutta! ...noo! Dutta...if I get as much of a scratch!! bodies will be scattered back there! haaa..hooo, now how are you going to save them? howww? Haaa ha! Sudarshan laughs hysterically .. he's in shock of seeing Dutta in person!

Dutta replies.. like shri Ram rescued Sita from the clutches of ravana! Dutta turns and Sudarshan gets a punch! that spins him around, he nearly loses his balance!! and Dutta glares at him and roars!!! like the way shri Krishna saved his people from the atrocities of Kans mamma!! Sudarshan glares back at Dutta and raises his leg to kick Dutta .. but Dutta grabs his leg, drags Sudarshan in a spin! and smashes him on the ground! kicks Sudarshan in the face; pulls him up by his collars gives him a good shake! and roars in his face.. the same way, the Pandav's defeated the Gaurav's in the battle! and he lands a slashing right hook punch under Sudarshan's chin! and Sudarshan falls to his knees before Dutta!

Dutta pulls up the vanquished Sudarshan, by the collars and Sudarshan blabs.. it's all Kala Tai's game! I didn't do anything Bhau! Dutta looks him in the eye and says, now it'll be you who'll take me to Kala! and he goes arghhh!! and head butts Sudarshan!!

Dutta drags Sudarshan by the collar to the horse and hurls him over the front of the saddle!.. then puts his foot in the stirrup and mounts Dhavel... Mahadev, Bhola, Ranga look on proudly at Dutta! with Sudarshan strew across under Dutta's nose!

Dutta folds his hands and says, you all have supported me up till here! this Dutta will never forget! from here onwards, I shall venture forth alone! the battle is for my family! against my family.. so you all can return from this point.. all the villagers, Ranga, Bhola, Tana, Mahadev fold their palms and bid farewell ! Dutta bids farewell on a happy note.. return and have a party to celebrate success! till we meet again!!

and Mahadev says, yes till we meet again!! and next time come with your family! and hurls the sword towards Dutta which he catches and raises in victory ! Dutta turns his horse and leaves the villagers behind... and rides past Sudarshan's stationary red jeep!

Dutta rides with his sword held high.. Sudarshan is carried on the horse by Dutta, his eyes closed.

The battlefield

Kala stares mockingly at Nakusha, Aye Sahib ..and Baji, Dutta's sisters, Seema.. suddenly they hear clip clop, clip clop, of a horse's hoofs .. Kala looks up at an empty cross path they leads down to the battlefield.. and then in a cloud of dust the canter of horse's hoofs ,the neighing of a horse! and Kala smiles and announces, my beloved brother is arriving! Dutta's family look at the path way; or shall I say, Dutta Damoder Patil is coming!!!.. the sound of a horses hoofs near, and so does the neighing, Kala says, Aye Sahib! your darling son has come to lie upon his pyre! Baji mocks, Kala! Dutta has reached here after killing your men! he's coming to put you on the pyre! and Kala replies, you see for yourself Baji!.. Baji looks at Aye Sahib and says, Aye Sahib don't you worry! this Kala cannot harm us now! yes!..

the trotting gets closer! and so does the neighing! and the figure of Dutta comes galloping! holding his sword in hand, hair blowing in the wind, chest heaving! looking like a saviour! all look as he nears.. all smile Kishore, Baji, his sisters! he comes closer and pulls his reins and glares at Kala! and she sneers.. Aye Sahib cries out Dutta!! .. Dutta gives Kala a cold look and pushes his sword in the saddle holster.. and then with his hand and a twist of his lips he spurns Sudarshan off the horse on the ground! who lands on his face in the dust on the ground!

Kala stands up from her throne in disappointment. Naku looks and gives a smile! Dutta swings his leg off the saddle and jumps off the horse on to ground ...and pats Dhavel and sends him to one side. I thought this was a golden move by Dutta as he expected arms being used, so best get the animal out of the way.

Dutta slowly turns then and faces his family. Naku calls out in joy Saab! and his mother cries out Dutta! my son! and Baji yells, Bhau I knew you would come!.. Dutta seems in a trance as he slowly walks ahead.. given the fact he hadn't seen them for a while...

He walks unarmed toward's Kala..and Seema too stands beside her...Kala sneers.. come my warrior brother! did you see every one! how lovingly he's looking at me! you got your eye sight back?.. he looks at her like a waiting lion.. and refuses to answer her. But Kala carries on mocking him.. we meet after so many days? aren't you going to give your sister a hug..? as she moves forward like a victor.. BUT .. Dutta moves back from her. and she winds him up with small affectionate talk.. you haven't changed one bit! even today you have the same fury as always.. but save some for the right time! take a look over there! your Aye Sahib! your sisters! your love! your dearest friend! and your brother in law! all of them bound in a string of love! I just need to put a flame under this string and boom! like at Diwali we set off firecrackers! one after the other!.. just like that before your very eyes one by one your family will be blown to bits!.. Dutta silently listens and glares at her... episode ends Hamlet53 2.11.14..

Indeed words cannot be enough to write about the heroic glory of Dutta's arrival at Kala's set out battlefield..

Noteworthy are Dutta's heroic cum religious references to his faith.. that of Ram, Kirshna, and Mahabharat..where battles take place to end evil and uphold goodness and justice!

Sudarshan gets what he deserves.. but he is such a drip that more of his grovelling is to follow in forthcoming remaining final episodes.

It is no surprise that Kala refers to Diwali.. it was that night she saw her father being killed by Dutta's father..

Dutta /Kala faceoff!

Kala says to a cold faced Dutta, like at Diwali we set off firecrackers! one after the other!.. similarly, before your very eyes, one by one your family will be blown to bits!.. Dutta listens silently and glares at her... she continues, now if you want to save your family Dutta! then you will have to cross these mines to get to them. Dutta turns his head and lowers his eyes to note the mines.. buried in the pebbles.. and then looks at Aye, Baji ,and Naku seated on the black chairs on a stage. Dutta ponders, about his next move...and Kala jeers at him, you'll do that quite easily! you're brave like a lion aren't you? your family too reckons that you'll save them! there's only a teeny tiny gap between you and your family..Dutta glares at her with lion like eyes.. and Kala says, the competition is very straightforward! won't you go then Dutta ? to save Baji? to save Naku! to save your sisters? huh? aren't you going to cross these mines?..hey! matre , give a small demonstration in aid of Dutta Bhau's arrival , won't you? the BG holds up a remote control ,and the family holds their breath ,as matre presses the remote and sets off a loud blast on the battle field area. Dutta's sisters, wife and mother are terrorized by the blast.. they understand the danger Dutta will have to subject himself in order to save them! Dutta stands sided before Kala his hands clenched in anger. Kala slithers closer like a snake to Dutta and tells him, Dutta Bhau, this is but a small demo, but over there where your folks are sitting.. there are no firecrackers, but real dynamite! Dutta looks down anxiously...and Kala says, five minutes, that's all your family has got... go save them! Dutta looks at Naku and Aye Sahib. Kala continues, for after five minutes you'll be looking for their body parts ! Dutta damodar Patil! your countdown starts now!.. Dutta gives her a narrowed look...then looks at the ticking away time bomb. Dutta seems under pressure. Seema flaps, Kala I beg you stop this morbid game of death! you gave me your word that you'll spare Dutta! Kala retorts, think again Seema I said no such thing! all I did was console you a bit.. for your old wounds.. and you just went ahead and disclosed Dutta's whereabouts! to me.. Kala spares no examples where Dutta can be made to feel that he has been duped by people time and again.. here as usual Kala puts someone else forefront in her dirty deed.. Seema is lumbered with all the blame for this dastardly act perpetrated by Kala! mind you , Dutta and Baji shouldn't be surprised by Seema's snitch .. but it is a bit of a shock for Naku.. who considered Seema her friend.. however Naku will probably not think too unkindly of Seema in the grand scheme of things.. as Seema saved her Saab's life!

Seema argues, Kala you said you only wanted Nakusha! and that you wouldn't harm Dutta! you gave me your word! Kala smiles and denies, I said no such thing! tie up Dutta's lover! with the rest of her family.. and as she is being dragged past Dutta and Seema cries out to Dutta, forgive me Dutta for being manipulated by Kala !once again I deceived you! Seema tenders a public apology to Dutta. But Dutta stays focussed on the task at hand! Kala glances at the blinking time bomb and jeers, now take a look Dutta Bhau! your lover wasted a minute and half of your time ! now all you've got left is three and half minutes! go on do something fast! before they all blow up! and Dutta turns and speeds up to save his family!

But Naku cries, Saab! don't you worry about us! Aye Sahib too cries, don't worry about us!.. and Dutta stops.. much to Kala's disappointment! Baji calls out, Bhau !smilingly we will lay down our lives for you!.. this is the bane of Kala's life her jealously of all the love that Dutta acquired from people , in this her family.. also how the wider community literally considered him nothing short of a god.

Baji calls out , Bhau! don't worry about us! and Dutta looks down at the ground as Kala calls out, only hundred and twenty seconds left now Dutta.. aren't you going to save your family? Kala scoffs him.

Dutta lowers his eyes and shifts his eyes.. then he moves his eyes and looks across to Naku.. then he looks across to Kala who stands.. with one arm folded..

"Kala I accept defeat..."

Dutta walks up to her, stands before her; folds her palms before her; and she in surprise raises her eyebrows, Baji ,Aye, Naku look on as Dutta stands before Kala in an apology posture. Dutta says,...look Kala I accept defeat!..Aye Sahib, Naku are flabbergasted. BUT Kala just wags her finger, no Dutta no, don't you play smart games with me!.. Dutta shakes his head and says no... Kala says, for now only 100 seconds are left! behind his clasped hands and slightly flared nostrils he confesses, I never understood you, you were always a few steps ahead of me.. many times more shrewd!.. so your father's killer's son is apologising to you today... because of me, I beg you don't punish these people, I accept whatever punishment you give me! .

Slowly with folded hands Dutta sinks down to his knees before the mighty serpent Kala Sahib!.. Dutta's family watches in disappointment and Kala looks bemused by Dutta on his knees gesture.. mind you she did says .. Dutta would go down on his knees to beg for the lives of his family.

Dutta grovels, it's the first time I have accepted defeat before someone; gone down on my knees; he waits for her verdict. But Kala smiles, let me think.. let me think Dutta... shall I stain my hands with your family's blood or just with your blood? Dutta pleads, I never hated you Kala! at every rakhi embraced you with sincere love! today embrace me forgive these people.. they happen to be your people too Kala...

Dutta continues to kneel before her and pleads before her as she looks down with scorn upon Dutta', you have changed completely Dutta...you want to embrace me.. well the dying person is granted one last wish...if this is your last wish then so be it, and I too will hug you and give you a warm send off! and she spreads her palms to him.. COME! Dutta's eye's light up...slowly he stands before her, his palms still clasped... he comes closer to her.. and they embrace! Dutta coldly brushes the side of his face against Kala's long flowing tresses. Naku, Aye , Baji, Seema look on.. Dutta waits.. Kala on the other side on Dutta's shoulder smiles powerfully.. Dutta flutters his hooded eyes ,then arches his eyes ..pulls his mouth with great effort takes a deep breath! and swirls Kala around by grabbing her shoulders! And she's restrained! as he bends one of her arms behind her back! takes her neck in an arm lock! and Kala moans Dutta! ... all are shocked! BG ..aye Sahib , Naku, Seema,.. Dutta calmly keeps Kala in his arm lock; Baji , Kishore and the sisters too can't believe the sight!! BG point their guns but can't shoot as Dutta overpowers Kala. Dutta says to Kala. now there are only twenty seconds left Kala! so if a bullet is fired! or a bomb is blasted! then I will press my foot on the mine near my foot .. kala! and with me you'll die alongside too! Dutta roars his threat! Kala looks down at the mine under Dutta's foot!.. Dutta roars the countdown! 1o! 9! 8! 7! 6! 5, you don't have much time Kala he counts dangerously .. 4... 3! Dutta's foot balances on his heel.. 2!! and Kala yells to the BG do as he says! .. and BG with pliers snip of the lethal wires!.. Dutta moves his arm lock from her neck and pulls out the knife and holds it against Kala's gullet! Dutta says 1! the bomb near his family is detonated!

Celebrationsss! Aye breathes a sigh of relief! Baji, Naku, square up! Kishore chuckles the sisters look puzzled Seema looks not too pleased as Naku will get dutta .. as Kala is still held at knife point and Dutta demands to Kala, tell your men to lower their guns!! and release the family! and with a broken voice she orders, the BG to put down their guns, and release them!...Dutta cranks his neck to see if the BG had laid their arms. The BG release Naku, AS, Naku sitting at the chairs .. the sisters Dutta growls in her ear.. see Kala , where you hate and arrogance has got you to... you never understood your husband's love; your mother's love; your brother love nor your sister's love! and he hurls her roughly on the ground!

She glares up him with fire in her eyes! the family is released, Kishore collects all the BG guns on the ground and throws all of them in the water!

Dutta's family reunion

Naku runs to Dutta straight into his arms and clings to his chest and Kala flashes her eyes at both Dutta and Naku. Sudarshan on the ground opens his eyes. Aye Sahib, comes to see Dutta and he embraces his mother. Kala hates this sight too..Seema and the sisters also watch and smile. Sudarshan raises himself slightly and pulls out his gun tucked in his sock! watches Dutta embracing his mother and Sudarshan raises his gun and glares at Dutta... then Baji embraces Dutta and Kala stands up; Sudarshan points his gun at Dutta and says, you're dead Dutta! this is Sudarshan's aim! But Seema watches from far and comes before Dutta's back and gets shot by Sudarshan's bullet aimed at Dutta! pathetic Sudarshan tries to get Dutta's back! back stabber! all are shocked to hear a shot and find that the shooter is Sudarshan! that Seema has been shot! Sudarshan is furious he missed! No surprise! He tries again and Baji runs and throws a small rock at his hand ,that knocks the gun out of Sudarshan's hand! and then Baji runs to Sudarshan and gives him the beats! Dutta helps Seema to the ground and she looks up at him, she cries, forgive me Dutta! forgive me all of you.. Naku give Dutta love and she dies.. as Naku cries , Baji call the doctor! the whole family rally around sadly against the dead Seema!

Kala grabs Sudarshan's gun and points it at Dutta head.. Baji notices her and grabs her arm and twists it! she points the gun and fires ! Baji gets shot in the leg! Dutta sees and stands up ! as Baji presses his leg! Dutta moves swiftly toward's Baji! but Naku stops him Saab! ..as Kala stands like a serpent with a gun pointing dangerously at Dutta! the family is shocked again to see that Kala won't give up till she kills Dutta!.. Aye Sahib shakes her head and says Kala ! Sudarshan is happy, especially because Dutta's right hand man lies wounded on the ground unable to save Dutta!

Kala aims her gun at Dutta! and he calls out to her, stop it Kala! I am standing right before you! kill me if you want to! don't waste time!.. the family looks beleaguered and Kala savours the moment just before shooting Dutta!

Episode ends Hamlet53. 4.11.14

High drama of Dutta/Kala face off continues and comes to it's finale as Dutta by sheer strategic thinking over powers Kala just enough to avert his family from being blown apart.

But Kala has pure poison running through her veins in place of blood.. traumas suffered in childhood often have far reaching effects.. she has a warped image regarding relationships.

Kala's time measurement!! second by the second! ends up being a tongue and cheek inclusion in the final section.. as this very counting her brother gets hold of and slowly.. narrows the distance between Kala and her end!.. these two.. bro and sis.. me shaking my head..
