Dutta~Naku

Episode 303

17th March 2011

Attic

Aye Sahib reminds her, today neither I am alone nor Dutta.. it's you Kala who is alone.. Kala hisses, fine Aye Sahib.. so be it now you see the price for being loyal to Dutta! carry on being stubborn! and she leaves in a strop!

The party

The scene is set for the bonfire party. The lads. Tana, Bhola.. and Ranga want some intoxicating drink. Tana asks Mahadev, how about some.. ahem! ahem! and Mahadev smiles, and turns to his wife.. just listen to them! and Bhola adds, yes.. I too feel a bit thirsty, could do with a drink! but Mahadev announces loudly, till our new headman, Dutta Bhau doesn't arrive no one will get anything! Sunderi wants to know where they are? and suddenly Dutta arrives with Naku holding on to his arm...and he puts his arm around her shoulder.. Dutta and Naku are welcomed by all and Mahadev offers Dutta a drink in a small earthen pot into Dutta's cupped palms.. here Bhau drink.. it's a humble homemade drink ! we make it out of flowers and herbs, drink it up in one go!.. Naku places her palm on the small pot.. and asks simply, is this local liquor? And Dutta turns his head to her with a sly smile.. Mahadev looks at his wife for the answer and she denies it nervously, no! not really! it's the nectar of Lord Shiva ! and Dutta gives a pleased smile, then leans his head toward's Naku and whispers, just one sip.. and she smiles, as others nod their heads begging her to give Dutta the permission to have one sip.. and she giggles and reminds him, ok ,one sip only.. and he smiles and reinforces, yes, only one sip! and he continues, so this is in the name of your village! this forest ,and my beloved Nakusha ! and they all raise their cups and Dutta pour the drink down his gullet in one go!..

Naku is stunned ..as Dutta with folded arms keeps the cup on his mouth while he gulps the lot.. then brings down the earthen pot and Naku ,complains softly.. but you said only one sip..? and Dutta jests, well yes.. I did have it in one sip... and all laugh at Dutta's witty ,hilarious answer to Naku.. she has no choice but to smile at her husband's wise crack!.. and Dutta teases her further by begging Mahadev.. Mahadev bhai! one more sip.. but this time for her.. and Naku fumbles, for me? and all smile as Mahadev places another pot in Dutta's cupped hands..

Suddenly the music begins and the famous song of Virasat film, dhol bajna lage.. is played. It's a boisterous number with thumping ethic beats of the drums.. Tambour that reflects the happiness of the villagers.. Dutta and Naku sit side by side on the charpoy as the music and the gaiety continues . Couples and groups of men and women dance on the ground as the cadence of the music forces them to stand up and express their joy..the lyrics are celebratory about a hero[ Dutta in this case] returning after winning a battle! Dutta is showered with rose petals! ..smilingly Naku allows Dutta to have another shot of the drink.. and he smiles delighted.. and drinks as Naku gives him a "only on this occasion look"..

Dutta slightly tipsy , seeing couples dancing , places his palm on her shoulder and jerks his head to the dance floor.. but Naku just giggles, and he gives up shyly,.. Sunderi sings the lyrics.. to Dutta and Naku, "now that you both are with us, stay with us! our prince has arrives, returning the colours in our life! making us dance with joy! "... lovingly Mahadev comes to Dutta and kneels before him, holds his hand and cajoles him to dance.. Dutta is of course unwilling.. eyes or no eyes..! but as the villagers dance around the bonfire in the final dance.. Naku takes him guiding him by her arm twisted around his back.. and he joins in an awkward walk around in a ring , clapping his hands and smiling to show his joy...

Dutta & Naku in tent

After the party ends, Dutta and Naku return to their tent. Naku helps him sit down on their bed...he literally lurches to the side.. it's clear to Naku.. the man's not entirely in his senses.. he should knock out soon.. carefully Naku grabs his arm ,he a sits up and gropes for her hand and she crouches before him.. and Dutta slightly intoxicated says, in a way having no sight has it's benefits also.. with a smile and swirl of his head he flirts, I get your assistance without asking for it! besides what good are such eyes Naku? that couldn't see how you felt.? Now I only see you with the eyes of my soul.. and through them, you for me, in every moment , appear stunning! He says with a silly drunken smile on his lips his closed eyes viewing Naku through his imagination ..it is helpful to recall here that Dutta has actually seen both dusky and beautiful Naku.. Naku stares at his face and has the reunion FB where Dutta says, "don't be frightened , you'll become my eyes" how she guided him to fight off Chaskar's men at the bridge. looking at his face, Naku looks him regretfully.. she recalls, mahadev's FB , "if only we can get the herbal flower , than Bhau's eyes can be restored.".. Naku has an idea.. and so she says to Dutta, you must be tired, lie down and take rest.. she holds his legs and swings them on the bed.. and since Dutta had alcohol too, he closed his eyes and prepared to sleep.

She fondles his hair back from the forehead. Naku looks down at him and says, Saab , I have found your love, but I can't see you dependant on me.. you have to fight your foes , before that you should gain your vision back.. what is Naku thinking here? that his blindness will hinder his attack against his enemies.. the story so far shows Dutta's fighting spirit .. within himself he wasn't seen to be bogged down by his partial vision.. so do we now see.. that this is a wife's sincere wish for her husband to be complete.. and healed..

May be I am being harsh. But for her, these were people who practiced and had expertise on herbal remedies .. if Mahadev mentioned a particular herbal flower that may cure, Dutta , then she would break her promise to Dutta.. Naku muses as she studies his slumbering face, at the wedding I took an oath that I would look after you till my last breath..and that oath I will abide by ,even though I means breaking a promise given to you Saab...she recalls Dutta forbidding in no uncertain words ,for her to go looking for the flower on the mountain .

Defiantly she looks down at the sleeping Dutta and muses, I know you will be angry with me ,I will tolerate it but I will go look for the flower... whether I live or die, but will find that flower for your eyes.. decides Naku.. she leans over and kisses his forehead ,stands up , looks back him and nearly rolls her eyes and then leaves him sleeping.. on his own.

Outside the village is asleep in their tents.. she takes a torch and in the silence and darkness of the night walks out of the sleeping village.

Patil Nivas

Kala now does Baji's job of inspecting the BGs.. the whole idea is to impress upon them that she's the one who wields power now!

She asks them if they are ready to leave for shiroli..any fear in their hearts.. or questions..?she briefs them Sudarshan wouldn't accompany them and so kaiwad is their leader.. she gives him the envelope with the photos, and says, tell Dutta his loving sister has sent it ..she tells them after giving this present ,return as fast as you can! because then you have to welcome Dutta here! Kaiwad tells Kala, that Dutta has killed Chaskar, which implies that Dutta has regained his sight! she challenges him if he is scared of Dutta? he explains , if Dutta attacks them are they allowed to kill him? because he is bound to get mad when he sees the present you have sent him.. Kala replies in panic, it's besides the point whether he can see or not! even if he does attack you all, you are not to retaliate! His last battle will be here in Patil Vadi before me! your job is to give him this present! how you give it to him I have left it with you! now go away from here! and they heed to her orders and leave for shiroli.

Naku flower hunting

Guided by a hand held torch Naku soldiers on.. through the pitch dark spooky forest! her pallu gets caught in one of the snapped branches of a tree.

As she trudges on , the mountain side.. the BGs jeep drive to shiroli to despatch Kala's present!

Naku carries on .. she hears growling of wild animals , but the fearless Naku carries on torch in hand. she waves the flame around to keep the animals at bay... stamps her fears.. by FBs.. when Dutta during exercise says, "when will I get my eye sight back? when can I see my foes"? so I guess this justifies her rather bold step.. of coming out of the village..on this dangerous expedition..

Naku carries on , but trips and her torch falls and she is now in pitch darkness.. she has a FB.. Dutta's words, "surely you pray for me , put medication in my eyes, it's very unlikely that your Bappa will not grant your prayers" she stands exhausted but then carries on.. trekking the mountain in darkness..

The BG seem lost , they stop the jeep and ask a passer by the directions to Shiroli.. and then drive on.. Naku recalls, Kala's voice," greetings SIL! Dutta Bhau! and Naku shouting, "she's not your sister, she's your biggest foe! then Dutta's words, "a woman who conspires to kill her own brother! I hate to think what she must have done to the rest of my family" and these memories motivate her to climb on..she trips and saves herself from falling and her hand falls on a branch of a creeper.. she grabs it to haul herself upwards!.. as she progresses up the mountain.. the jeep to progresses on the bumpy off the road terrain. Episode ends Hamlet53 29.10.14.

So basically this episode shows the determined Naku.. ready to act for her Saab's welfare.. brilliant.. only it did cross my mind.. he was slightly drunk.. was it wise to leave him on his own.. in terms of being his carer ? just a thought..

Did Dutta being intoxicated help Naku in her plan to search for the herbal flower?next episode shows if it was a wise move...

a wife feels the trouble for her husband before anyone can in case of nakku its totally true even before there marriage because nakku is always dutta's sheild thats why nakku reached to dutta before trouble to save him in total ltl 1 it shows that nakku is indeed his shield in this case also its getting true that nakku felt that the enemies are near thats why this need of eyes is making nakku go against her promise and mahadev will also mantion that even dutta is blind he can fight like 10 warriors but if he has eyes he can fight like 100 because this time enemy is very sharp who live in hide all her life

the song was a lovely number , rishtey showed it .. because dutta wasn't singing it.. these shots are so good! you can see the complete episode.. ummmh twinky this was the end of tasha JJM2 TRACK.. I ONLY realized it when i did the next episode.. thanks so much for the lovely comment... both looked great together..
