OK ..here you go. I know its short but i wanted to post something. xoxo
Nakusha woke up early the next morning to find Dutta sleeping on a chair next to her bed. His head rested on the bed at her arm's length. She reached out and brushed her fingers through his hair. He woke up up at her touch and instantly looked up at her. All they could do was look at each other in absolute admiration.
" Thank you Dutta.. thank you for saving me" she said with tears welling up in her eyes. Her voice was weak and barely audible. "I can't even imagine what would have happened if you hadnt'" she trailed off. Dutta reached over an put his finger lightly on her lips, "Gup.. ek dum gup!" He said firmly while removing his finger from her lips . "Where the hell is Prem? How could he let this happen to you?" he fumed. His anger was building with every breathe he took. "Whats his number.?! I have to talk to him! NOW!: he roared, causing Nakusha to tremble a bit. Catching himself, he lowered his volume. "Where is Prem, Nakusha? He insisted on. He stood up out of his chair in frustration. " kuch bolegi ke nahi?!"
First you tell me to be quite and then you tell me to speak.. make up your mind Mr Patil." She smirked. "Do I look like I am in a laughing mood? This is no time for jokes Nakusha!" Dutta exclaimed as he looked straight at her. " A joke?.. my life is a damn joke Dutta!" she answered back, catching his off-guard. "Every time I try to come to terms with my life and move onwards, something happens. My whole life yet again was flipped upside down. First my parents and now Prem'" said Nakusha in a unsteady voice. "what happened to Prem?" Dutta moved closer to Nakusha, who was now sitting upright on her bed. He sat next to her, holding her hand in his. Nakusha looked down at his hands and went on. With tears streaming down her face. "The evening of our engagement, his business associate called him with an urgent matter. It was still early so he left for the meeting. He told me back in a few minutes. Those minutes turned into hours, the hours into days. It was a whole 2 days before I found out what happened. His business associate had fixed a meeting with some lenders at some warehouse. Prem and his company had no idea that the warehouse was being used for illegal activity and were caught in the crossfire between rival gangs. " She looked up from his hands to Dutta face. His face had lost all its color. He couldn't believe his ears. He got up with one swift move and turned his back to her. All the sudden, his anger making its return, his eyes turning red and steam escaping his ears making his whole head feel hot. "And you're telling me this NOW?! Why didn't you call me when it happened?! You have been all alone, dealing with another loss and not once did you think to call me! You've been in my city for 2 months and if it hadnt been for yesterday's spectacle then I still would not have known about your whereabouts!" Turning suddenly towards her, he moved closer to her. His hands on either side of her, caging her in as he hovered over her. She could feel his breath on her forehead. Finding the courage within, she looked up at him, straight in his eyes, just mere inches away from his face. "and why does it matter to you where I am? What I do?" Shocked at her on courage, Nakusha held his scorching gaze. "kya lagti hai' tu meri kya lagti hai? Tujhe nai pata hai kya?!" he said while grinding his teeth. She could see sweat beat forming on his upper lip. His eyes were blood shot looking back at her utter disbelief. Dutta noticed tears lining in her eyes and decided to back off at this time. He pushed himself off and stormed out of the room.
She had put up a wall around herself after Prem passing. People had called her all sorts of names after the news of Prems demise worked its way through the town. The elders of the town considered her bad luck. Her destiny was not on her side.. first her parents and then her soon to be husband. Talks amongst the people had gotten so bad that she decided it was best to move, only to land up in Dutta's city. The man that she wanted to protect more than anything. She couldn't bare the thought of loosing him also. It would be end of her. It was better she just stayed out of his life.
Nakusha laid back down in her bed and cried until she fell asleep. Part of her wished he wouldn't come back but she knew all too well what she meant to him and that he would be back.
