Truly something extremely haunting! I love those early promos, though...Precisely BECAUSE they were so haunting when I first randomly stumbled across them, and they're still just as haunting/mesmerizing now after having watched a lot of what Nakusha and Dutta have gone through!
Another one of the narrator's lines..."Par achanak...koi saamne aaya...Kaha: 'Main thamoonga haath usska.'"
Edit: Found the promos again!

Thanks Borna for putting these up...hadn't seen these before. 😊
The first promo just about GIVES AWAY at so many instances, the show's unorthodoxical nature. It sure is very eccentric in terms of it's story, it's characters, the thought process and the vision behind it. THIS is something that STANDS OUT among the crowd...which is why I think sometimes, it was/has not been received "well" by the aam janta. Behti naiyaa mein haath dholo...that quote is quite apt for the Indian audience as they watch whatever nonsense gets fed to them...not many people wake up from their senses and try to find some meaning behind what they are watching and why they are watching it. The Indian audience has got SO used to watching melodramatic garbage that something UNIQUE, something elegant like LTL does not weave well with the "aam" audience. But, like you guys have been saying...their loss is someone else's gain. 😆

@ Anu...I didn't get to reply back to your post from EDT today about Russell Peters.....yeah his add popped up on the side of the IF page and that's how I found out that he is coming to the university....debating if I should go or not 😆

You're welcome, Param! I'm glad I posted them - I went crazy looking for the first one a few weeks ago, and just a few minutes earlier I found out that I'd favorited it ages ago! 😆
Promo 1 does indeed give away a lot about what makes LTL very different from run-of-the-mill shows, I agree. I'm basically going to ditto everything you've said about the audience...Even though I can't really say much, from the general comments I've heard around IF, it seems like the melodramatic, "pretty, glamorous veneer" stuff is what people like to watch. LTL's concept was both a strength and a weakness, I guess. But the strengths outweigh everything else because there are SO many things that the LTL team got right!
Random: the music in the promos is haunting, too! I'm watching them both again and again...Something is just so...enchanting...in a slightly dark way, if you know what I mean. Both promos, especially the 2nd one, are rather prophetic, too. "Bhula nahi paaya main usse." "Ek ankahi kahani..." "Aur uss din maine taye kiya, main sunaaonga aapko usski kahani."

@ Bold: SOOOOO True 👍🏼
I just watched the second promo...wasn't working earlier on for some reason.
Agree with everything you said....From an artistic point, the promo itself speaks VOLUMES about the uniqueness of the show. The way it's shot and edited...the serene background with the water giving a brilliant and such peaceful touch...which is ironically one of the themes of the show...Dutta attaining inner peace....and since you know about music and all, I can discuss this with you....the tanpura they are playing in the background....strong and subtle at the same time.....the monotonous tone of it gives a very nice touch to the whole promo....leaves you in sort of a desolatory state and intrigued about the show.

I find this very interesting.....the promo makes it seem like, this NAKUSHA is just an "ugly" face, illiterate girl, victim of her fate even with her own name. UNTIL, one watches the first few episodes and realizes the monumental power and psyche this girl has.

Wish they had used MR's voiceover for the narration part since HE is the one who is telling Nakusha's story....so it seems from the promo.
And the line "Bhula nahi paaya main usse" ....SO TRUE at a more general level with regards to the audience.....this show sure is something that is HARD to forget......especially for people who have dwelled into the complexities and talked about it multitude of times.

The person narrating is not supposed to be Dutta I think, Param...it's from an omnipotent type of perspective...he's telling the tale of how this girl is going to be accepted by someone whilst being 'unwanted' by everyone else...koi saamne aaya: kaha main thamoonga uska haath...third person POV rather than first...

MR wasn't signed on at this point either...had his voice been used though :inlove:

Ahaaa...nice catch, Fatty. I got so stuck on the multiple "main..main" 😆 that I overlooked the koi saamne ayaa part which surely implies that the promo is from a third person's POV as you mentioned.

@ Bold: Really 😲 ....I had read somewhere that he wasn't the first choice for Dutta's role but didn't know that he wasn't really finalized right at the beginning of the show....interesting 😆

@Param and Fatima:
The 3rd person POV is quite subtle, but I think it adds a sense of immortality to the DN story, in a way...If that makes any sense at all. The way that the promo's visuals play out, and the poetic feel of the narration made me think of the way narrators conventionally tell the story of star-crossed lovers...Except here, conventions are turned on their heads, and it's the story of two people who never thought they would find love after all that they had been through...But little did they know that all of that was only a prelude: the end of the beginning...
"Main thaamoonga haath uska..." - and Dutta really did, in a way, by saving her from Morey in a completely unconditional manner, woh bhi "achanak"! So there we go! And then Naku, of course, has been Dutta's dhaal ever since they met, so that reciprocal nature of their relationship has always been there.

In comparision of the two shows like everybody discussing .....some shows are for classes and some are for masses ..ltl is the show for classes...uttaran for masses..and sadly masses are more in number....

Now that I am more alive than from last night, I can actually provide my view on the piece written on Nakusha. First off, the beginning questions put forward about how people don't remember the show makes sense you know? First off, it's easier for aam people to refer to show by the characters' names I guess- easier to slip off the tongue. By a certain period of time, the show takes a back seat and the characters' names and the goings on in their lives become the focal point, for any viewer hooked on. Funnily, it says more about what the show is all about as well- it's Nakusha Dutta wala show....having their name said in unity, like 1 name can't be mentioned without the other...doesn't that SAY IT ALL??? That peole refer and relate to the show by Tasha. For someone else to suddenly come in, therefore, makes no sense whatsoever.

On the other hand......if people refer it to as Nakusha's show, then I guess her story is somewhat standing out more for that small group of elders that refer to is as that?? Could that explain why Dutta has been fragmented frm the story, because it is essentially Nakusha's story? I would like to think that LTL=Tasha as in the above paragraph. Yet, there is no harm in looking at both sides of the argument...

Finally the line below is just wonderful. I would like to think that Naku always had that trait in her to be possessive about those who are dear to her, she is selfless after all, not wanting anything to harm her loved ones. With Dutta, not only his role in saving her life, providing her with shelter and looking beyond her ugly apperance, but the fact he is her HUSBAND, have probably contributed to such a side coming out- the sherni, ever protective, never giving up side. The hissing and biting peaked when she faced Kala post FR. There were glimpses I think during the whole of 2010, but Post FR, that side sparkled. Hissing and biting to protect herself though.....hmmmm....I think that element developed following Dutta's accident and disappearance right? Or am I reading it wrong? Whenever in trouble, be it morey or anna, she has had others save her.....which is another interesting thing. How she has relied on others to rescue her, but has herself been so pivotal in rescuing Dutta. I maybe just blabbering now. 😆
One how hisses and bites to protect herself and her husband. That's Nakusha.

Thanks for the post...I think I have seen AD's blog before and saw too much abt Uttaran there and didnt bother to read it. I am guessing AD was closely associated with Uttaran. It seems like Uttaran was his baby. Seeing him doing a good job in Uttaran Colors might have hired him for their other shows like LTL. But I think LTL was overall handled by other people and those people are perhaps more attached to LTL. The scenes to be shot prolly come to the dialouge writer towards the end of the whole story telling process just before the shoot and his job is to only pen the final dialouges. If he isnt involved in the story development process he wont be attached to it either esp since its his daily work.
Coming to Uttaran doing well...I think LTL followed Uttaran's tactics of excruciating slow movement of story but high drama during the first wedding. Thats what Uttaran is all about. Indians esp housewives like such stuff hence Uttaran was popular for a long time. But today it isnt as popular as it was before. Recently there was a spurt in trps as viewers thought finally Ichcha will hiss and bite. But she didnt. As usual.
