Chapter 14

Here she was once again..walking the corridors of Patil Niwas in a shade of red royal blue today the morning strain could be seen on her expression yet she looked as smiple yet stunning as ever with that familiar cup of tea in her hands and this time nakusha was determined to make no blunder. But above that thought was Kishore and aayis conversation at the breakfast table. Talk of dutta..interviwing wemon..and that joke about dutta looking for a second wife really seemed to get to nakusha. She wouldn't admit it directly but within there was an ancipation as she approached the room that dutta was carrying out his so called questioning in. as nakusha walked closer to that room that dutta happen to be in..two house maids happen to be gossiping in the name of work..and nakusha happens to overhear whist apporching..

-'Suna hai..dutta sahib..dusri shaadhi karne ki soch rahe hai…tabhi toe yeh sab ladkiya ghar pein aayi hai.'-

Overhearing the maids talk, nakusha gives a rather aggressive look with her eyes and the women stop talking and get back to work..walking away swiftly yet this gives nothing for nakusha to hope for. Was this really happening? Was the question in her mind..it all seemed like a bad dream when Nakusha walked closer to the room and getting close she noticed a queue of girls standing waiting outside the room. Nakusha couldn't belive her eyes. The sight was of anxious looking girls in wait and by the looks of it ..everyting she had heard was adding up and dared to think of it..her heart was sinking at the mere thought of it yet..nakusha wanted confirmation for herself and that stronger more resolute nakusha came to surface for she was going to question this act of duttas if it was as she had interpreted.

Nakusha walked past the array of what was pretty girls, they seemed traditional and mature all fair, thin..churidaar dressed most of them yet the matter was not them it was the purpose they with present for. Normally Nakusha who would be pleasant at greeting today she gave a odd glance of disapproval and walked past if to look down at these girls.. stopping at the entrance of the room nakusha gave it a second thought, she was ready for what was to come. Nakusha had her intentions straight, she was not going to back down today..after all she was dutta shri ram patil's wife and she was going to be the only one.

As nakusha knocked on the surface of the wooden door…opening it slightly she..walked into the surroundings of the room and as her eyes fell on the presence of her husband there was a certain eye lock between the two and duttas eyes aknowleged nakushas presence and then went back to concentrate on his dealings. Taking a quick glance at what was going on before entering nakusha saw…dutta sit in the middle of that lavish room In his arm chair. As powerful as ever dutta dressed in his black attire sat in his chair with upmost dominance….at comfort yet with a certain sternness… next to him sat a circular table which was apart of the room …nakusha eyed this as the perfect place to leave his tea yet more significant was what seemed to be going on here.

Standing before dutta yet at some distance was a girl. Fair, slender, tall, pretty..dressed in a pale yellow churidar.. she seemed to be tormented by duttas questioning… and was doing her best to anwer while dutta seemed to be taking his farmiliar… dominating approach to this task.

Nakusha walked into the room silently and approaching dutta she overheard the type of questioning that was going on.

"Dutta bhau ke ghar ka sadasya hone ka matlab hai jaan ka khatra.

kya tu aise jee payeygi?" ..dutta takes a gun out of his back pocket and puts in on the table..to show the seriousness of the matter and the girl is petrified.

The girl nods a yes to duttas question yet nakusha is not convinced putting down duttas cup of tea on the table beside him..nakusha eyes the girl with annoyance.. and begins to mumble to herself.

"Bandook dekh kar kaap gayi ..kabi goli khani padi toe kya karegi.. chali aayi sahab ki patni bane.."

Dutta overhears Nakusha to some extent and looking up to his side at nakusha..duttas eyes give off a certain amusement. "Tune kuch kaha naku? ", nakusha nodds a "nahin toe, mein kya kahegi" dutta notices that nakusha seems a little inexpressive and dismisses that girl from the room. Leaving just the two of them there. Dutta makes nothing of Nakusha silence he acts as if he had not heard her silent winging and goes on with his words. Dutta picks up a selected number of photographs and hand them to nakusha. "Atcha naku.. is mein se dekh kar bata ..sabse aatchi kaun si hai."

Nakusha isn't impressed taking the few pictures from dutta she barely looks though them …and rejects them… dropping them on the table..nakusha ..tells dutta that none of them are good enough.

-"Is mein se aapke laayak koi nahin hai."- dutta watches nakusha walk away and then rethinks on her words and.. his expression creases in amusement at nakusha innocence.

………….

As Nakusha walks out of the room rather annoyed at what her husband was up …baaji happens to walk past and notices how annoyed Nakusha is. A cross look and irritated insults of some sort were coming from Nakusha as she walks past those girls that wait outside the room.

As Nakusha walks into patil house lounge..baaji and chotu.seem to spending quality time together but as nakusha walks in..angry baaji notices. "Ey naku..kya hua akele mein kya badbaarari hai?" Nakusha crosses her arms in determination not to give in.

"Baaji apne sahab se jaake bol ke Nakusha abhi ke abhi sunvaayi chahti hai." Sunvaai was like dutta's court of hearing for the people of Patil niwas. Dutta would solve issues of his people and provide them with justice yet what problem would nakusha have that it need to go to that extent. ? "Sunvaai…par aise kya hua naku? "

Baaji was a little surprised, even shocked to hear this from naku yet..she didn't give explanation and Baaji couldn't get one out of her either. - "Bas tu jaa ke bol unse…"

Baji silently walks into that room where dutta is interviewing those girls.. standing behind duttas chair baaji talks silenly into duttas ear who eyes baaji with confirmation.

Stepping out of the room dutta ..walks in his trademark style with bounds of authority nakushas eyes flinch for second as dutta stands before her. Nakusha waiting for him and baaji by her side. Standing before them both dutta looks down at an irritated naku and questions her. - "Bol nakusha, kya baat hai? "Naku refuses to talk of the subject in this way. "mein patil wadi ki malik se sunvaayi chahi hai." dutta gives nakusha an estranged look yet agrees with a nod.

Seated in his chair …dutta is ready to get whatever this was over with..and as nakusha walks into the room standing before him dutta states his rules.

"Bolne se phele yaad rakhna ke… tere saamne tera pati nahin, patilwadi ka dutta shri ram patil hai." Dutta knew nakusha was aware of this differencefor she had purposely asked for a hearing from the leader of patil wadi yet dutta mentioned it all the same."Bol..baat kya hai.?"

"Mere pati mere hote hue dusri shaadhi karne ki soch raheh hai."

dutta at some extent knew that this was going to be the topic of debate and was a little amused by the way Nakusha looked so irritated. He had never seen her this way..there was a first time for everything he thought. Getting up from his chair dutta didn't let on his amusement contrary he seemed very stern. Walking across the floor..closer to nakusha he watches her with a certain intensity that all ways seems to get to Nakusha. The way he looked at her melted her in everyway and to make sure she didn't give in..nakusha dropped her sight. Trying to maintain her defiance nakusha listens to what dutta as he has to say as he walks around her. His footsteps play on nakushas heart…

"tumare pati ne tuje kaha ke waoh dusri shaadhi kar raha hai?"

Nakusha nodds a no. dutta watches nakusha with a certain passion that naku could feel..

"Lekin tuje lagta hai ke waoh aisa kuch soch raha hai?"Nakusha nodds a yes..but duttas words that follow somewhat shock her.

"vaisi bhi tumare pati kisi ko chun liya.." Standing close behind nakusha…dutta looks over her with a playfulness in his eyes. Reaching out into the chest pocket of his black over coat dutta pulls out a what looks like one of those photographs and hands it to nakusha. Not really wanting to look at it..when nakusha does…she is pleasantly surpised. She feels duttas arms ring around her waist and his face pull closer to her neck.

It was a picture of herself … feeling his closeness …his touch..nakusha beggins to feel embarrassment

"Ladki mein baajirao ke leighyey dekh raha tha naku..Kya karu tumare bare mein soche nain se phursat hein nahin militi varna apne leighyey bhi ek chunlteta.." Dutta hoveringly presses his lips against nakushas neck..making nakusha weak at the knees..pulling away a little from dutta..nakusha turns to him..looking up at him with those innocent eyes.. a smiles creases on duttas expression as nakusha..places her hands on his chest and beggins playing with the buttons of his kurta… - "Tumare chehre paar jaalan dekh kar..attcha laga.. naku." Nakusha looks up at dutta with a little irritation in her eyes yet the way in which dutta looks at her with love washes it all away…as dutta pulls closer..towards nakusha…intending to kiss her more intermiatly nakusha…stops him..- "sahab…" "koi aajayeyge.."

Dutta listens to what nakusha has to say..looking down at her…a sense of comfort fills his expression but he doesn't fall for this excuse… "koi nahin aayeyga..aur aayay toe bhi dutta kaun rokega" as dutta steps closer to nakusha..

In the background there is a sound of seems like crying…which gets there attention.

Pulling away from naku a little dutta looks at nakusha and naku looks back at him in question of that crying. "Koi..ro rahaha hai…sahab..? " Both of them walk outside of the room.. towards that sound as they step outside of the room ..chotu sits in the open corridor hurt. What looks like a trip and fall… chotu had hurt his knee and there was blood. Nakusha reacted quickly as the motherly side arose. Sitting next to chotu on the floor..nakusha consoles chotu and wipes his tears whilst dutta leaves for the first aid kit and on return…is about to approach both of them yet stops watching from a distance as nakusha manages to stops chotu from crying. Chotu lies in Nakusha's lap and almost falling asleep mentions his mother repeatedly using the phrase "…maa. " dutta watches the way Chotu's discomfort upsets Nakusha.. taking a few steps closer to them ..dutta sits beside them. Opening the first aid box he takes out a plaster.. unpealing it he sticks it on Chotu's cut. Looking up to Nakusha dutta sees an softness..a sadness in nakushas eyes and dutta reassures her with his subtle smile.

……….

Late that night and as Nakusha prepares to sleep in the surroundings of there bedroom dutta coming out of the washroom in a change of clothes..dressed in his white kurta dutta noticed the way nakusha looks worried. All the while seemingly..tidying the bedding nakusha seemed lost. Dutta approches softly..and promps her.

Kya soch rahin hai naku? Realisng that she had took of into her thoughts she denies it and goes back to the task at hand. "Kuch nahin sahab..bas uyuhien.." Dutta knows what the conern is and reassures naku.. chotu ke bare mein soch rahien hai naa..fikar maat kar meine baaji ko kaam par lagadiya hai. woah uske parivar ko dundhlega. The way dutta seemed understand her so well was always comforting for nakusha and it left her feeling a little more content. But as dutta finishes his words he feels a certain pull at the side of his kurta..and looking down to his side.. a little sternly as per nature he sees Chotu..tugging at his kurta. Nakusha finds It quite amusing yet dutta doesn't.. seeing the kind of innocence chotu bought with him it softened dutta.. and chotu seemed..had a familiar problem..

- "Muje neened nahin aarahin…"-Dutta looked down at chotu…and then took a glance towards nakusha for it was her who was going to have to sing for him.

The day after..Midd afternoon and As Dutta and Aayi sahab sit amongst the surroundings of the Patil house lounge…dutta flicks through a business file.. Whilst aayi sits with her worship beads and Nakusha is busy in the kitchen. Baaji enters Patil Niwas with a certain concern to his expression. Walking quite bewildered baaji enters and wants to speak to dutta as soon as he had done. Dutta notices how ruffled baaji seemed ..brushing his hair with a certain concern was always the first sign that things were not going well for him.

Dutta looks up from his file, "kya baad hai baaji Bandar ki tara kyun farfarar raha hai.?'' The way dutta uses the word "Bandar " is something passed on from chotu and it even puts a smile on his face whilst using it yet baaji was on the verge of telling dutta something important. "Bhau..woh.. chotu ki maa ka pata chal gayay hai magar…woah..."There is a pause where baaji doesn't quite know how to tell Dutta and in that time… A lady enters Patil Niwas and Dutta's eyes clock to the entrance of the house and it was like he knew of her and as she walked closer it was confirmed that it was her. Getting up from his seat…dutta placing hands behind his back true to his character his expression changes somewhat. Stern yet sure. As this lady walks in ..her appearance is simple.. That of a maid in some ways. Dressed in a dull shade of green sari..a young looking lady..fair..slender with simple features..her hair tied back in a plate.she looked young yet her appearance seemed age, her expression and face features tired. Walking alongside chotu who seemed overly happy at the return of his mother was a confirmation of who she was yet..dutta seemed to recognize her in another way. And not just dutta but also aayi sahab …reacted. Getting up from her seat ..aayi sahab's expression seemed to react too.

As she approached stopped before both dutta and aayi..leaving chotu waiting at some distance she approached aayi sahab…taking her blessing, aayi sahab seemed affectionate towards her and welcomed her in a her usual warm way. Hearing a certain difference in sound from the kitchen Nakusha enters the room and watches from a distance. unsure..a little unknown and unaware of who this lady was nakusha watches from a distance silently.

As the lady approaches dutta..the interaction between the two of them is something of significant. Dutta overlooks her as she stops before him..

Her eyes seem to fill with tears and her expression soften..as she greets dutta, touches his feet.. and more significant and overpowering was the way in which duttas expression seemed to sadden. Looking at chotu who stood a little distance behind ..dutta looked back at the girl in front of him..looked at the way tears trailed down her face and putting his hand over her head..it seemed as if ..dutta provided the girl with a blessing. Nakusha noticed the way duttas eyes carried a certain sadness the way in which his eyes too filmed up with a mix of joy and sorrow. She didn't know who this girl was ..apart from being Chotu's mother she seemed to have a deeper significance which Nakusha was unknown to.

And yep nakusha does take all of duttas words rather litreually and at the moment she is very warry of dutta. warry of who he is, his status..she thinks of him very much as begin above her in some way and I think as the ff goes on I think this sort of distance of nakus will be illimanated within reason.

I think dutta is totally understanding and hes always there for her in his own way. Yep he did ask her..why shes a little histant to speak openly with him and I guess nakusha replied in a way which suited her.

As for the last little bit of that update.. u'll have to wait and see what is going on…

Glad you enjoyed it. to be honest I didn't know if this was the right way to approach the naku/dutta conversation..but in my mind I really couldn't see dutta just apologixing straight..because..theres something about dutta's character that is a little different. he apologies in his own way ..and that's what he did here too. his little gestures..all added up..and they move fell for each other in the end.

Hah …love the way you put it.. sahab went to look for another girl that could bring him chai..!! bitchari ka heart broke nahin..heart fail hojayeyga.
