Patil niwas
Dutta was sitting in his bar and holding a glass of liquor..he was thinking about how so much has changed in his life in the past 3 months'there was never a moment when he didn't think of his naku..no matter how much he searched for her..he could not find her..it was as if she had just disappeared form the face of the earth..and if loosing her was not enough he even lost his friend baji..being in the same house with him..working the whole day with him..yet it was as if thousand miles have come between them..and no matter how much dutta tried he could not reach out to him.
He remembered how happy he was when he heard that baji had regained consciousness..he and his AS entered the room..when baji looked at him ..that was the time he realised that he had lost his friend..there was no anger ..no happiness just a plain detachment'it was as if baji was seeing through him as if he didn't exist..baji turned away from him and looked at AS..AS held baji's hand telling him how she was worried for him that nakusha had gone missing but someone had killed morey and his men and bought you here safely..we don't know where they took naku or how she is
She must be in safe hands'Baji in a gruff voice told AS..AS looked at baji and said what do you mean..to which baji replied...if someone could save naku..kill those animals and bring me hear safely..i am sure whoever took her will make sure of her safety..AS got angry with baji and said how can you trust unknown people..baji smirked in a sarcastic manner and looking at him and said..having faith in my own people has bought me and naku in this condition..dutta could not control the burning he felt behind his eyes as baji continued..so now I must have faith in that unknown person..that whoever had bought me here to safety will also take care of naku's safety.
On hearing this..all of AS anger got deflated..as she looked towards dutta in a pained expression..baji looked at AS and said I am tired now and want to rest..please leave me alone..and he closed his eyes and turned his head indicating them to go..AS got up and walked towards dutta..as all he could do was stare at baji..she told him give him some time..and took his arm and lead him out of the room.
Dutta drank the drink in one shot..and refilled his glass..he thought about how after one month in the hospital baji was not ready to step in back in PN and it was only AS who convinced him to come back atleast for her sake and true to his word baji came back only for AS sake...he rarely interacted with anyone..he only spoke with AS or sometimes kishore
Baji speaks with him(dutta) about work..and anytime he tried to speak to him about that night or even try to apologize..baji would look at him in that infuriatingly detached manner and say it doesn't look nice when a master ask forgiveness from a mere servant'dutta grabbed baji by both his hands..are you just a mere servant to me..you were my best friend..where is he ..i want him back..baji freed himself from dutta's grip and said..he died the day he was trashed by morey's men..and he left from there leaving dutta standing there all alone.
Dutta got up from the bar..and walked towards the staircase leading to his room..there he saw baji doing the last minute checks of the security'that was the other change dutta noticed in baji..just how dutta.. to forget his pains used to drown himself in his work..just like that baji too has now drowned himself in work..he never made any mistake..nothing could ever go wrong if baji was standing there.
Dutta never realised how much baji had thought of his family as his own..when the day baji turned from the family members..he realised how much baji used to protect him from his own family members..just one month back the truth had come out of his brother in law sudarshan..who without his knowledge used to steal his money and use it for the wrong things.
On listening to his sister leela..he decided to give him a chance as this was the first time sudarshan did this ..but immediately baji cut him saying this is happening for the past year..before dutta could register what baji said..leela went to baji and said.. if you knew about it why didn't you mention this earlier'baji replied saying I kept quiet because he was a family member..what do you mean was.. he is your family..but baji looked at leela and said'I have no family..i am an orphan..you are my master's family and I am just informing my master about the wrong being done in the work it is my duty.
But you don't worry..till now he is never punished any person who did wrong..he always punishes the right..saying this baji looked at dutta and continued.. as long as your husband continues to do wrong he is saved from your brother's anger..now if you excuse me I have some work to do..and saying so baji left from there leaving everyone stunned ..no one could recognise this cold person who was wearing the face of baji who they knew for so many years..dutta too could no longer recognize him..and without a word he looked at sudarshan and said from today you are delegated to just paperwork..there is no need for you to look-over the accounts..
Dutta came out of that memory and headed towards his room..and stood near the sliding window ..he thought about the night he overheard baji talking to kishore
That night he was heading to baji's room to discuss something about work and maybe afterwards to get baji try to talk to him..but then he stopped outside the room when he heard baji and kishore talking..he opened the door slightly and saw kishore standing with his back towards him and baji looking out of the window.
Kishore was looking at baji and finally asked the question that had been haunting dutta from the day baji opened his eyes in the hospital' how long are you going to ignore dutta'when will you forgive him..you'll both have gone through so much never once in 20years have you not forgiven him..i know what kala did was not right but you know dutta..you know him as a child..you know how emotions clouds his judgement then why are you making him suffer and in process undergoing suffering ..when will you forgive him.
When the screams stop..baji replied..Rendering kishore quiet and stunning dutta too.baji continued when at nights I stop hearing nakusha screaming for someone to help her..screaming for morey to stop..screaming my name as I finally rendered myself to darkness..kishore walked towards baji what are you not telling..baji continued ..everyone knows about how I was trashed..i was brought to the hospital..and naku saved 'but no one know about the helplessness I underwent on seeing her being manhandled by morey..when I saw her being pushed to the ground..i..choked baji..kishore held baji's shoulder giving him the support'baji continued do you know how helpless I felt when I could not fight those men off..even after so many years being in this business I could not save her and myself from normal goons'no matter how much I try I can never forget the horror and fright I saw in her eyes before I became unconscious 'I can never forgive myself
Baji moved away from kishore and said you asked me when I will forgive dutta..the answer to that can only be this..the day I forgive myself will be the day I forgive him.baji became quiet and kishore knew it was time for him to leave..as he stepped out and closed the door'he saw dutta collapsed on the floor leaning on the wall as tears ran down his face
Dutta wiped the lone tear that slid out his eyes on that memory..and looked up to the moon..he closed his eyes and whole heartedly prayed please bring back naku and baji to me..its all I ask of you.
