Jokes aside, Naku's and Dutta's Bappa references make me think about a couple of things. I sometimes have very conflicting attitudes towards for example, when Naku says Bappa, I leave it all to you...I wonder what you have planned for me.
I'm using Naku's situation to highlight the larger question of: what is faith, does faith mean you do nothing? Or conversely, in Naku's case, are you faithful/religious because you abdicate right action in favor of waiting to see what Bappa has in store?
Perhaps I am oversimplifying the question, but sometimes I get irked by people not acting because in their eyes they are being faithful and are letting God decide.
Faith to me is a very personal thing. I have it, in some form and shape and quantity and quality, just as everyone has it. It's not always the same as that of another person and that is totally ok. But I believe in faith in God, faith in people, and faith in what are certain right or undeniable truths of how to live. I live using my faith and God's teachings to guide me. Sometimes, I feel Naku is just like blaah...show me the way Bappa, make something happen Bappa, do something Bappa...I'm waiting. Well, Bappa gave her life, perhaps a destiny, AND the ability to choose, make decisions and act. And she sometimes hides behind it. I'm not sure if it means she is religious/has faith or if she is a coward.
I read this once. I don't totally subscribe to it or accept it, but it does provide food for thought:
"The worst moment for them was when they discovered they were masters of their own fate. It was not a matter of bad or good luck. When they could no longer blame fate, they were in despair."
What do you think?
