Chapter 28: Yeh Raste Hain Pyar Ke

"Har kisi ko nahi milta yahan pyar zindagi mein...Khush naseeb hai woh jinko hai mili yeh bahaar zindagi mein...." Lakshya thought the song suited him to a T. Working with his uncle Gautam in Delhi had been particularly enriching. Gautam too had been very impressed with Lakshya's hard work and committment to his work. So much that he'd offered him the post of management consultant with the department of Virani industries he headed i.e. Finance. And paid him a handsome amount as a token. Lakshya was elated. He spent most of his first salary and the better part of two days seeking out the best jeweller in Delhi and buying the 'perfect' ring to propose KT with.

KT was sitting on the swing with an open "Count of Monte Cristo" in her hands, staring ahead blankly. It was the selfsame place where almost an eternity earlier, her Baa had gently maneuvered her into accepting an alliance with Manthan. "Mujhe yakeen hai, mere thode se bhatke huye pote ko meri parvarish....yani ki tum sahi raste par zaroor le aaogi..." Tulsi had concluded, sounding content with herself. "Should I ask Karan and Tanya to start making preparations?" "Yes Baa." KT said softly. She did not know what else to say. Obligations apart, she did not know what to make of her attraction to Manthan despite all their constant bickering. She also did not know what she would call the almost intense attachment she had towards Lakshya.

"KT..." Lakshya drew her out of her supposed reverie. He sat down next to her. "You remember the first time we met KT?" "Of course....How could I forget...I saved your life..." "Really? I thought it was the other way round.... Jokes apart KT....When I saw you first...I thought you were a pretty, naive and a little conceited girl.......Much too pretentious about your superior upbringing...When you started interning at Virani industries, I thought you were smart, capable and very self respecting. When you gave me your whole hearted support during the whole "Bring Dada - dadi" closer project, you became one of my dearest friends and confidant. You've always been there for me, understood me. KT ..... I love you....Will you marry me?" he said, raising her hand to slip on the ruby ring he had purchased for her. Only to find a gold and platinum band on her ring finger. "I'm so sorry Lakshya....." KT pulled her hand back and ran back to the house. Sobbing with knowledge of the realization of the name of the feelings she had for Lakshya.

Nakul saw his younger brother break down completely. He went up to Lakshya and placed his hand his sibling's shoulder. "Bhaiyaa....why did it have to be me?" Nakul had no comfort for the anguish in his voice. "I lost everything....everything bhaiyya...my dreams...my happiness....my love....." "Lakshya....You don't have to sound like a loser. Neither do you have to suffer this injustice. Go and talk to Tulsi dadi. Tell her how much you love KT.......I'll talk to her if you want...Not that I haven't already done that to no effect..." Nakul's voice sounded bitter now. "Remember Lakshya...You have as much a right to happiness and love as Manthan.....And you have a brother who will support you .....Always." Nakul gave his brother a reassuring hug.

The sepulchre like quiet of Shantiniketan told Barkha that something was very very wrong inside the house. Most of the Virani clan was gathered in the living room. Tulsi Virani was pacing with a distraught look on her face. The rest of the assembly had varying expressions of outrage, anger, disbelief and anxiety on their faces. "All my fault...." Tulsi was muttering. "Should have asked .....should have asked...." "Dadi....What happened?" " Barkha beta......Lakshya...." Tulsi began in a voice full of misery."What happened to Lakshya dadi?" "He.....he.....eloped with Krishna Tulsi."

Yahhh! I really didn'y want KT-Manthan here. In the serial we're already seeing KT-Eklavya and for just once it would be so awesome to see two people that love each other to actually be together!! Please, please, don't let Manthan come between them again! And if he does, then he should turn bad trying to separate them then eventually turn good realizing she doesn't love him back! I'm so happy that they're together at least here!

Chapter 29: Fareb

There is many a slip between the cup and the lip, Manthan Virani thought bitterly. No such thing as perfect happiness. Only an illusion of it. He had walked down in a daze reading KT's letter of apology addressed to his grandmother. He had looked at his family in utter disbelief and asked his dadi in a heartbreaking voice" Yeh jhooth hai na dadi?" And as Nakul entered the living room, savage fury replaced his initial nihilism. "Where are KT and Lakshya?" he asked advancing towards his cousin. " I don't know. " was Nakul's terse reply. " You bloody backstabbing son of a....". Nakul would have smashed his clenched fist into Manthan's face before he finished had Barkha not tactfully stepped between the two of them. " Nakul.....Manthan....Stop." Turning to Nakul, she pleaded, "Nakul...If you are aware of Lakshya's wherabouts, please tell us. We may still be able to convince them to return. Please Nakul....Mere khatir batado ....." "Mujhe nahi pata......Tumhari Kasam Barkha.........Iske alawa mujhe apni sachchai sabit karna nahi aata."

A sudden gasp from Tulsi caught their attention. Lakshya and KT stood at the doorway. Dressed in wedding clothes and looking like a picture perfect just married couple. Barkha and Bhumi caught Manthan's hand and shoulder respectively, preventing him from harming the new arrivals. Before anyone could say or do anything, Sahil walked up to Lakshya and gave him a resounding slap. " You had the guts to come back to this house after you disgraced us all? Get out....Right now......" he ordered fiercely. " Dad please.....Listen to him atleast once...." Nakul stepped up to his brother's defense. "Dadi...you made a decision 'in the best interests of your family' and assumed everyone would abide by it. You did the same for Bhumi and Joydeep......We don't deny you the respect you expect of us as an elder. Why then dadi are we denied the right to make decisions about our lives? I agree Lakshya did wrong by eloping but what other choice did you leave two people who love each other and want to be with each other? " Nakul ...Is this the way you....." "No Sahil..." Tulsi held up a staying hand, " Let him be.....Nakul....You accuse me of imposing my wishes on your generation....Tell me, " she said facing Bhumi and Barkha, " Do any of you regret your marriage?" They shook their heads. " I thought so. When I suggest alliances Nakul, it is because I feel those two people complete each other, compliment each other and in the long run, will love and cherish each other forever. And now ask your brother if he came to me .....asking me to reconsider this engagement even once.....No...he took the easy way out....eloped....without taking any of his own into confidence. And Krishna Tulsi you...."
she said turning to face her adopted grand-daughter. " I'm sorry Baa......" Tulsi just shook her head in disgust. "No its all my fault....I did expect better from someone with my upbringing."

Manthan had disengaged himself from his best friend and his sister. He walked up and looked at Lakshya with unmasked hatred. " I'll make you regret this Lakshya....For sure. Just wait. But before I deal with you, I need to find out who helped you with all this." "You don't have to look very far Manthan Virani..." a superior voice sounded from the doorway as a tall, bespectacled girl walked right up to him, gloating. " I did. "
