Hiten Tejwani is finally getting used to making heads turn. Twenty three-year-old Hiten started off doing street plays which made him addicted to acting. Landing a role in Ekta Kapoor's daily soap, Kutumb (currently airing on Sony TV) worked out perfectly for him. Today, Hiten's best known as his screen avatar, Pratham Mittal.
Hiten grins: "I wasn't prepared for the celebrity status. Television gives you instant recognition — the kind newcomers like me crave for. I had no sugar daddies to promote me and had to bank solely on my talent. I was auditioned and chosen over hundreds of hopefuls and I have worked really hard to be noticed."
Hiten doesn't really identify with his character. "Pratham's too much of a bad guy at times. He's an egoistical person who is used to people pandering to his whims. He's a typical brat and I don't think I am like him at all in real life."
Hiten admits that he was pretty unaware of the latest in fashion trends. "Now I have started taking more interest in my looks."
Hiten shares a great camaraderie with co-star Gauri Pradhan. "Gauri's a dear friend and we share good vibes — because there has to be some real warmth in our scenes together." And like most starry-eyed newcomers Hiten's also hoping to do films — some time soon. Dreams do come true, sometimes.
