Two arrested for threatening Smriti Irani

Two people have been arrested for threatening television actress and BJP leader Smriti Irani.
Irani first approached the Mumbai police about a fortnight back.
She had been receiving threatening calls for over two weeks and had decided to file a complaint after the calls increased.
In a breakthrough on Friday, the police arrested two people, both of whom are known to Irani.
Accused arrested
One of them is Rekha Modi, who had scripted some of Irani's serials and all her political speeches, and the other is aspiring actor Rashmi Kapadia, who also worked as a model-coordinator and estate agent.
"We have gathered enough evidence against them. One of the accused, Rekha, used to work in the same production house as Smriti," said Amitabh Gupta, DCP Zone IX.
''These calls threatened bodily harm to my children and me. I did not want anyone connected with me to get affected. That's why I filed an FIR,'' said Smriti.
On the trail
Acting on Irani's complaint, the police started monitoring her calls and tracked them down to Kapadia, who has also worked with Smriti in several serials.
The father of the other accused Rekha, however, maintains his daughter meant no harm.
"During the Lok Sabha elections, all of Smriti's speeches had been written by Rekha. She used to write a lot for her and had become angry because Smriti would get all the credit," said Modi, Rekha's father.
Threats are not rare in Bollywood. Professional rivalries also sometimes take dangerous turns and that is what got Smriti Irani worried.
