Drabble: Wardrobe Detective

A: So, Chikita, can I ask you something?

P: You just did.

A: Something else!

P: Ready when you are.

A: *momentarily dazed imagining the words in a different context* You should not say things like that.

P: What??? What did I say?

A: Um, nevermind. So what I wanted to ask you is, do you ever wear saris?

P: Yes, sure, if there's an occasion.

A: So you wouldn't...I mean, you wouldn't wear them every day?

P: Well I used to when - *cuts herself off realizing what she said*

A: Yes? You used to, when?

P: No, I meant, I mean, I meant, I would wear them every day, if the environment called for it...

A: Oh. Environment? What does that mean? I'm just trying to figure out, if you know...I mean, I only really know one girl very well, and she's my sister, who wears western clothes. Well there's my family, I mean, my Daadi and Taiji and Bhabhi, but they pretty much always wear salwars, so...

P: Er, yes...there was a question in here somewhere?

A: Well I mean, would the same girl sometimes wear - what do you call them, those long suits, flowing, kind of - you know, umbrella like?

P: Um - umbrella like?

A: You know, chatri jaise, they expand all wide and -

P: *faint voice* Anarkalis.

A: Yeah, those! Would the same girl sometimes wear anarkalis, and then sometimes wear saris, like...like just around the house?

P: ...Which girl?

A: That's what I'm wondering.

A: So can you answer, like would the same girl...?

P: It might...it might depend on the girl.

And thank you!! Had a couple of exams back-to-back so there were a bunch of all-nighters this week, but at least they paid off! But now the drowsiness is starting to kick in...

A: So Chikita I have another question.

P: You should just call me Google and be done with it.

A: What? But that's not cute.

P: *blushing* *stuttering* D-do I have to h-have a cute name?

A: *blushes* *frowns* *decides to ignore this because there's no safe answer* So anyway, my question...

P: *clears her throat, straightens her glasses* Yes, right, of course, your question?

A: Well you wear glasses right?

P: *scowls* Your eyes can answer that question!

A: That's not the question! My question is, do you ever wear contact lenses?

P: Oh. Yeah, sure, I mean if there's occasion for it.

A: Occasion again! And I suppose environment, too?

P: Well, yes...

A: Could you...could I...look I know this is weird but I'd like to know what you'd look like with contacts so would you take off your glasses?

P: *shocked* *blushing* *motionless*

A: Well if you won't...would you mind if I took off your glasses...just for a second?

P: *nods*

A: *gently takes off her glasses, getting ready to see what her face looks like without them and if she matches the strange girl in his flashbacks...but then...*

A&P: *fall in eyelock...and stay there, for endless heartbeats...*
