Part 2.5 (Intermediate)

Aaliya Mehra knew life wasn't easy.

No matter all the luxuries she had now, she never forgot, how at one time, her Dadi and her brother sacrificed their own food so that she would not have to go to sleep hungry. She never forgot how no one wanted to be her friend in school because she had no new dresses or shoes. How she was an outcast, the class clown, someone to make fun of. Neither did she forget the time when Bhai had punched a boy in her class because he had insulted her saying that his maid dressed better than her.

No. Aaliya Mehra didn't forget anything. She didn't want to. She saved those memories like precious treasure. When someone called her cold or selfish, when people called her a bitch, she revisited these memories and reminded herself why she was the way she was. Why it was good to be perceived as a cold hearted bitch rather than a vulnerable fool whose heart will be very easy to break.

And they did break. She knew it. She had crushed enough of them. Her first time was when her Bhai had shot to fame. She had searched up the same boy whom her Bhai had punched and had started dating him. Three months into their relationship, she had dumped him and humiliated him.

Yes.

Revenge was sweet. She had started seeing it as a game. She remembered every person that had hurt her and her Bhai. She bid her time. And when they were at their highest, when they were high on life, so happy that they became confident, it was then she struck. It was satisfying to see the people who had once looked down upon her, fail. She reveled in their failure. Their failure just went on to prove how successful she was. How far she had come in her life.

She now spent an average persons monthly salary on a dress. She had her meals in five star restaurants now. Her friends were all socialites. Her best friend was supermodel Tanu. Yes, she had come a long way from the girl with no friends and rags for dresses who had to go to bed hungry.

And the biggest trophy on her shelf had been Pragya Arora. She had committed the biggest of sins. She had dared to take away the one she, Aaliya, loved. After many years of leading an empty life, meeting Purab had been like greeting the sun after a long bout of coldness. He made her feel something other than the hatred that had taken a permanent hold in her chest. She knew that she was not a good person. And it didn't bother her. Much.

But Purab had made her feel good. He had made her happy. But more than that, he had made her feel good about herself. Like she mattered for someone other than her family. Like there might still be some good in her, because if he had agreed to marry her, surely there would be some redeeming quality in her? The way he introduced her to his friends, with pride. And it was all that mattered to Aaliya. Because that pride was for her, not Bhai. He would introduce her as 'Aaliya' and not 'Rockstar Abhi's sister.'

There were only two other people who saw her as something else than an extension of her Bhai. And both of them were her family. And people in your family are wired to love you. But that same acceptance and love coming from Purab had validated her life.

And the Arora sisters had tried to snatch him away. They had snatched him away. But not before Aaliya had her own revenge. Not before she had completely ruined one sister's life and tainted the happiness of the other.

Yes. Aaliya Mehra knew life wasn't easy.

But she also knew how to snatch what she wanted from life's grip.

...

A/N: Hello. So thats it. The reason for this short piece was that I wanted to give some insight into Aaliya's character before the confrontation. Why is she the way she is. What makes her tick. Because it has always baffeled me that a person can carry so much hate. It must be exhausting. So yeah. This is my perception of how Aaliya Mehra turned into rockstar Abhi's sister.

Also, I'd like to apologize for not being able to reply to your lovely comments. They really inspire me to write more. I have been really busy this past few days. I'll try to reply to them as soon as possible. :)
