Haven't been watching but watched y'day and today bcuz had nothing else to do at the moment - nice to see Sarla not needing smelling salts...disgusted with weepy waily Pragya though she said the first sensible thing in ages when she told Abhi he has no rights over her now that they're divorced. The cousin daadis are sweet but not effective and the less said about the other clowns in that family the better...where is Akaash? Perhaps he can redeem himself if he's able to do the right thing/something positive for Pragya. Glad Purab is now treated with kindness and gratitude by Arora family. Wish Pragya's daadi would give four dramatic, stupendous slaps to Aalu (Aaliya and Tanu) and a kick in the rear to her daamad-pota for his hypocrisy and stupidity. Since I have not been watching not sure about where Rachna, her mom and Purvi are.

Hear, hear. I so wish he had a brain and this was all a plot but the man has not one marble in his attic so would be wishful thinking to assume he was doing this to trip up the real culprits. Sigh!

I just want make a comment because people are taking personally when intent is toward the show and CV. If we as an audience who can't be part of TRP will not vent who else will?
That was IF is all about. I am regular audience to watch YHM. I am proud to say that we have very strong opinionated people who post and oppose on the stupid tracks make comments like the ones on this post. Enough to force our actors, cvs to visit our regular posts.

By the way I tried to watch this show because of Shriti but the way main lead treat praga and she does not fight back had lost my interest.
I thought concept was really good but they did not execute well.

Y can't they make a show that is more realistic... Just cannot fathom. Beyond my logic brain...
Anyway, I was happy with the way show began. Only women (strong) being able to rum a good business ... not dependent.. I really wished that track continued.

It's so sickening to watch Abhi manhandle Pragya daily and abuse her emotionally. On the other hand, it's even more sickening to watch a woman fall in love with someone who abuses her and mocks the sanctity of marriage.

Such regressive shit

To those who are offended by any criticism (mild or harsh) of these shows, please understand that the majority of us dissenters are not saying anything negative about the wonderfully talented actors; our issue with the production houses and/or writers (CVs in general) is nothing personal. I think that the cinematography is top notch in many shows...we all know the crew works very hard etc...
I respect both Gul Khan and Ekta Kapoor - they have achieved a lot in their professional lives.
Thanks to those who take the time to write out episode summaries. Had it not been for you, people like me would not be able to participate in these discussions. :)

Some forum members have stated, 1) it's mindless fun... "relax, it's just a show" and 2) if you hate the show so much, just stop watching. No one is forcing you. And I have stopped watching.

You are right on both counts...but only up to a certain point.

On the first point that it's just mindless fun...well I agree with the mindless part. Brainless is probably a more apt word. The fun part...not so much - I don't see the "fun" in torturing, abusing, and debasing your emotionally distraught wife, who for reasons best known to herself, is madly in love with you for your supposed "goodness." I don't see the "fun" in telling your wife you want to drive her to suicide, especially in a country that has one of the highest suicide rates in the world. I could go on, but you get the gist of what I'm saying I'm sure.

On the second point... as a consumer with no input when it comes to the TRPs, India Forum gives us a great platform to share our voices. As a woman, it is my right to object to what is appalling and offensive. As a human being, it is my prerogative to say we can do better. I have written about this before - it is high time we stop romanticizing egregious behavior. We can't afford to do that anymore as a society. Torturing your wife is inexcusable. Abhi reminds me of a story I read in The Canterbury Tales about a man who tortures and tests his wife relentlessly. Abhi is Walter and Pragya is Griselda. Read it if you don't believe me. It's pretty sad to have to compare Abhi to a medieval jerk.

Why do we set the bar so low for Indian shows? The production houses and TV channels claim that this is what the audience wants. I don't think that's entirely accurate. What other choices do the production houses and television stations give to the audience besides this outlandish, outdated, objectionable drivel? It's mortifying and embarrassing.

There is clearly a demand for different content because the PTV dramas are hugely popular in India. The PTV dramas do not go on forever, and let's be honest - the quality of writing is outstanding.

As a writer, I can appreciate how difficult it is to write for daily shows that are forced to go on and on, long after the show should have ended (narratively speaking). It's enough to drive the best writer up the wall. The PTV shows, to my understanding, are shown once weekly as a 40-50 minute episode. And secondly, most of the shows end before reaching the 30 episode mark. Maybe that tried and tested formula should be used in India too, even if it's on a very small scale.

Anyway, just my opinion. Thanks for reading.

@TM: You've pin-pointed some very important issues.

I've stopped watching the show a while ago but visit the forum about once a week to check out the TRPS of this show and the others. I keep having to pinch myself every time I read the trps of this show and ask myself if it is for real.
But why only this show? Practically every show, except the ones that have the leads referring to one another as 'ji" show similar regressive tracks,

I don't know if the PHs have a survey done as to what the current audiences want or just blindly throw such regressive stuff at us . Either way, it's missed its mark as the audience today has expectations far removed from the ones since 2000 when Ekta's shows were at the peak.
Practically every show today depicts deep conflicts between the lead characters which translate into verbal abuse and physical abuse within a short time.

This one is no different and the audience end up cheering them on as we know they are going to walk into the sunset hand in hand at the end. So, any abuse is excused in the anticipation of the romance that's been promised to us.
And, the trp givers are only a small sample of people who simply cannot and do not represent the mindset of the majority.

I never understand why people react badly to criticism especially where there is justification. In this case, I find it very hard to watch this serial any more and have taken to occasionally reading updates.. And the reason is that it is no longer watchable is...
1. The so called hero is a self indulgent brat.
2. The so called heroine has lost her brains and her self respect.
3. The only characters exhibiting any evidence of being vertebrate are rarely on screen.

It is inexplicable that the show is fairly high on the charts, but that might have a lot to do with the actors. Frankly, despite the script, they rise above it. Kudos to them for it. But there are more interesting shows with both decent actors and a tolerable script.

And yes, I can be criticized for coming to the forum at all. I will take that. I should avoid anything to do with this darned show but I am an optimist and continue to hope that if nothing Pragya finds her spine.

Truth is people love regressive shit. Can't get enough of it. Their mantra is, logic gaya bhad main, hum to emotion ke deewane hai, bas wohi dikhate raho. Hume hamara daily dose chahiye no matter what. They just love to see women being humilated mentally, physically, emotionally. and for the sake of TRPs, channel and PH keep showing same shit again and again. This show is not all that bad in compare to other garbage showing on TV. Shows like saathiya, sasural simar ka, Uttaran can boil your blood like there is no tomorrow. totally bullshit, illogical, regressive, mentally retarted sick disgusting charactes. Ekta gets her fair share of criticism for showing stupid stuff but this crazy lady rashmi sharma is 100 steps ahead then Ekta😡. She should be banned from Tellywood. period. she is dangerous lady. Lots of innocent people can end up in hospital due to heart attack, high blood pressure and mental stress issues.
