Because she is so sansakari, she will not hit him back. typcial mera pati parmeshawar hai BS.

I wonder if EK and her female writers would have tolerated men like Abhi. I know, I know...it's just a show but audience tastes are really alarming when it comes to women tolerating abuse from their husbands. Glad there are shows like DAK (at least in its present form) that show a strong woman with a backbone and dignity.

OMG your post cracked me up😆😆😆😆😆😆 Pragya is weeping like a crazed Rudaali LOLLL😆😆😆😆😆😆👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 should she sing "yaara sili sili?????

On the first point that it's just mindless fun...well I agree with the mindless part. Brainless is probably a more apt word. The fun part...not so much - I don't see the "fun" in torturing, abusing, and debasing your emotionally distraught wife, who for reasons best known to herself, is madly in love with you for your supposed "goodness." I don't see the "fun" in telling your wife you want to drive her to suicide, especially in a country that has one of the highest suicide rates in the world. I could go on, but you get the gist of what I'm saying I'm sure.

On the second point... as a consumer with no input when it comes to the TRPs, India Forum gives us a great platform to share our voices. As a woman, it is my right to object to what is appalling and offensive. As a human being, it is my prerogative to say we can do better. I have written about this before - it is high time we stop romanticizing egregious behavior. We can't afford to do that anymore as a society. Torturing your wife is inexcusable. Abhi reminds me of a story I read in The Canterbury Tales about a man who tortures and tests his wife relentlessly. Abhi is Walter and Pragya is Griselda. Read it if you don't believe me. It's pretty sad to have to compare Abhi to a medieval jerk.

I completely agree with all this, thank you so much for saying it.

I think the fact that so many of us are upset and the forum is full of new threads and discussions, is proof that they are pushing things WAY too far. To an nonredeemable point. The romantic male lead has literally manhandled/physically abused Pragya multiple times, mentally tortured her for fun, cheated on her to her face, beat up her best friend, thrown around/destroyed her belongings, come very close to what would be considered attempted rape. And now he's BLACKMAILING her into marrying another man she doesn't even love. And the majority of this has been in the last what.. week? in the show's timeline.

I feel after a certain point, at least for myself, it's really hard to ignore a woman constantly being abused just because they've randomly inserted a cute comedic husband/wife scene with a wind machine fueled long eye lock thrown in at the end.

(And I say this as someone who absolutely loves those scenes!)

I'm so happy to see so many concurring opinions. At first I was hesitant to make this topic because I did not want to offend any fandoms lol! Indian TV in general is regressive and takes our intelligence for granted. Half of the time the story makes no sense and love is as superficial as wall pin ups and eye locks. How freaking immature. Abuse and misogyny is glorified and women are shown to be pieces of furniture in this age when we are trying to fight for equal rights.

Agree. Indian TV is regressive. Like I said earlier, its all about emotions. To hell with storyline, common sense, intelligence. As long as female lead and other women cry buckets and shown being humiliated its all cool. They always have to bitch about sansakar, maryada, traditional values, for the sake of TRP's they show such a disgusting stuff that doesn't even make sense. Vamp and female lead fighting for male lead, and vamp trap guy to get married with her and have suhaag raat with him LOLLL he didn't even see her face before doing stuff with her????? who the hell does that in real life??? Vamp somehow prove that she is pregnant with male lead baby and whole house invite her to stay with them because she is carrying "ghar ka waaris" LOL another pathetic track LOLLL It's about time people start writing to channels to make progressive show.

Forgive me, I could not find the right thread to express my horror and deep sadness regarding the unimaginable tragedy in Peshwar that took place on December 16th. Even hell is too good for the monsters who took those innocent lives.
For me at this moment, I have to hold on to hope for a better tomorrow...John Lennon's song "Imagine" says it all - "you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...I hope someday you'll join us and the world will live as one."
Be safe and well my friends. And tell the people you care about how much they are loved.

Dare I say Pragya reminds me a lot of Ankita from Pavitra Rishta. How Ankita was mahan and left Naren life for his happiness and every single goddamn episode we'd have to see her cry with sad background music. Now this serial has Pragya crying to sad songs in every episode and being so weak for someone that hasn't been true to her and has only hurt her. They show the characters as modern and wearing westernized clothing, yet they act like uneducated irrational people with traditional thinking. Abhi calling himself a rockstar yet having traditional thoughts on how his wife should be.. yet his GIRLFRIEND can wear revealing dresses and model for the world, but when an mms of his wife comes out that looks completely innocent he'll jump to conclusions and make her life hell, what a sick and disgusting person. I absolutely hate Abhi in this serial he's less than smart.
