Part 5

Ranbir went back to his loft, and fell on his bed, today was such an eventful day. He met the girl he had hated since the day he set his eyes on her, and he hoped she didn't have any brains to survive in the office; he had to accept that kanya had all that it takes to succeed. He went down to his kitchen, opened a breezer can, gulping it he picked a marshmallow bag and put on the Basketball match. He drank his beer and ate his sweets, no one knew that ranbir nanda ate marshmallows, and the day this news was out, it'd be the end of his reputation. His phone rang and he answered it, "Hello? Ranbir? U said u'd be picking me up at 7.30 its past 8!" said a voice, ranbir got up in horror, how could he forget! "Oh ya! Hey!" he murmered 'What the hell is her name?' He had a date tonight he searched for his cell phone and went on his calendar, as of today he is supposed to be taking 'Rebecca/becks' for a date at Martuni's "Hey Rebecca, sorry babes, had a long day at work, I'll be there in 10 minutes!" and with that ranbir, dressed as fast he could, got his car keys, and ran to his date. He wasn't interested in how she spent her life; he wanted to know how she was in bed.

Meanwhile, kanya finally reached home, and kicked her shoes away, "Why does that Nanda have to come back in my life! I mean I thought school was it!! I hate him! How dare he say that I'd destroy my own best friend's life! No wonder he had no friends, and those who were, were just like him! Pathetic" she said to herself, she had to cool down; she decided she'd go for a bath, she made her bathtub ready, put all the yummy smelling oils and some soothing music. She somehow cooled down, and really looked forward to meet the heads tomorrow, because she knew that ranbir had liked her work, but was just annoying her, and anyway! Ranbir's opinion didn't matter. But she wanted to know, why was Ranbir Nanda working in Destiny's Fashion? After all the son of Karan Nanda, working in a different organization is a fishy matter. She herself knew that the Nanda's have a very big and 5 diamond award winning Hotel right here in the heart of San Francisco. As time had it, kanya went to sleep after a long bath, and ranbir, well he had his dinner (Rebecca).

Next morning, Kanya reached in time and ranbir was late. Both decided to ignore each other, but when they had to contact, they'd be so cold, that people near them could feel the bitterness. Eve and Max had decided to not ask kanya about how she knew ranbir, because they could clearly make out, like the others; Ranbir and Kanya were sworn enemies. The meeting with the heads went good, but everyone congratulated kanya for her idea and they decided that her show will be put, kanya was ecstatic, ranbir gave a forced smile, he tried to put eve's and max's work before kanya's, but even the other 2 agreed that kanya deserved this one. Before anyone knew it, kanya became well known with all, and then the meeting with the sponsors happened. Smiling in her kitchen, kanya remembered, ranbir calling her "Nanda, the sponsors want to speak to the designer of the show" said ranbir smirking, kanya got very nervous, what if they didn't like her reasoning, but worse she knew what ranbir was thinking could come true. She knew he was imagining her getting sacked, she had 1 last look at ranbir, swore under her breath, and went in the room.

"Ms. Kanya why did u choose a boat theme?" asked one of the representatives of Xtreme Creations, kanya could feel her hands getting sweaty, then she imagined ranbir and his ugly smirk, and without thinking a monster grew in her and she thought 'if u want nanda to suffer, continue here, until he quits' "Because it…." Started kanya, the meeting ended with applause for kanya, and ranbir stormed off the conference room. Kanya had nailed it, she convinced them to sponsor the show, Destiny's had decided to make kanya permanent, and ranbir was there watching her sign those papers. He hated her so much that minute, she had managed to make herself permanent in 1 week, and she is just a college grad! He had to congratulate her, as he was her superior and Mr. Foster had forced him to do so "Congrats Gobarbole, we finally have to see each other on a daily basis" he said, she wanted to kill him for making fun of her name but, "Thank you Nanda, I don't mind seeing ur face everyday, u see I really look forward to see a saandh on 2 legs, and a different thing is I got here in pure talent unlike u I didn't use my father's influence" she said and walked off to join Eve and the girly gang.

Kanya's thoughts were intrupted with the whistle of the pressure cooker; it was Monday, the day of the show, and she was very nervous she had triple checked all the arrangements, and the boat renter was stored on her speed dial. In the past week, she didn't have 1 minute to fight with ranbir, because he was equally tensed like she was. They both had spoken with coldness but had done the work without a quarrel, it was time to get ready and she wore the dress Pierre gave her as a special gift, it was the first time his designs would be worn and displayed on a ramp and thanks to Kanya.

It was a black-backless gown, she chose to wear with high stilettos, she put minimum make-up as possible. She was one of the first ones to arrive at the deck, Ranbir was already there checking on things, and kanya noticed that ranbir was well dressed, he had removed his eyebrow piercing, and his hair was tied back in a pony, he wore a black tuxedo with a white shirt his tie was the only thing that was not done properly. Kanya remembered that since the day she saw him in the office, he never wore his tie properly, and she smiled to herself, for what reason, she didn't know.

Ranbir noticed kanya stare at him, she looked gorgeous even though her hair was messed because of the wind, she tucked her hair behind her ears, and came to meet him, "Hi" she said nervously, she had to speak to someone, be it with Nanda, she didn't care "Hey, u look good" said ranbir, "Thanks" she replied when she looked up ranbir was not there, he was hugging Monica. Kanya's hands turned into fists, 'Oh! I make the first move to say hello to him, and he doesn't even look at me, what does he think of himself?, stupid King Kong! I hope this ship goes to his island so we can drop him there!' she decided to go and correct her hair while leaving she heard Pierre shouting at ranbir to fix his tie.

She visited the bathroom, once out, ranbir was staring at himself at a mirror near making different muscular poses, checking himself out, Kanya couldn't help it she let out a small squeak which was followed with a roar of laughter. Ranbir straightened himself and turned to face kanya, completely red "I was just checking whether I have the six or seven packs" he tried to explain, she laughed and went near him, the smell of his Davidoff perfume filled her nose, she went towards him, smiling at him, she fixed his tie. Ranbir was stunned with her behavior, 1 minute she wants to fight with him, next she is fixing his tie, from the mirror he can notice her bare back, he is tempted to touch it, but controls himself, he notices kanya delicately handling his tie and he thinks 'God! She is so beautiful' and he remembers the first time he saw her, she looked as innocent as she did then, then he remembered them making fun of him and his anger and hatred towards her returned. Kanya had finished his tie and said "U can always say thanks" "I didn't ask u to fix my tie" he said coldly, kanya was taken aback, and she became angry with him, she couldn't expect anymore out of the man whom she spent 15 years cursing.

"My-My!" followed by a whistle from ranbir, kanya turned around to see all the models walking in front of them "I love my job!" said ranbir and went inside the room, to be sent out by the girls, Kanya was staring at him swearing at him every second 'how dare he even thinks of girls, that to of these types' she glares at him and goes to the hall where the show is to start. The ship has already departed the deck, and the show starts, kanya goes behind the stage and ensures that everything goes as expected. The show was a success, and soon everyone had gone for dinner, kanya realized how hungry she was and soon everyone was fed when the speeches were made, followed by dances, all the couples went, kanya didn't know any guy, so she didn't go. Ranbir was on the dance floor with more than 4 girls, he notices kanya is alone, and decides that she did try to be friendly so he goes towards her only to notice that Nick from the sales department had already lead Kanya to the dance floor.

His mood for dancing with all the available girls died, he went to the bar and ordered himself a Martini, he sits there watching everyone dance, but everytime his eyes search for kanya, and he notices that she is laughing and talking with Nick. He knew nick well because they had a common habit, date girls and then sleep with them and then don't even bother to return their calls back. He didn't know what happened to him, he walked onto the floor, and went towards kanya and tapped on Nick, "May I? u've had her for awhile" and nick winks at kanya, goes and gives kanya a small kiss on the cheek, she turned all red, and so did ranbir. Except kanya was blushing and ranbir's blood was boiling, he didn't want kanya to get bedded by nick, since he knew his nature, and didn't want kanya hurt this way.

Ranbir holds her hand and pulls her closer, his other hand supports her back, kanya shudders with his touch, thinking she is feeling cold he pulls her more closer, the music changed and Eric Clapton's voice fills in the hall. Kanya loves his songs, and she goes closer to ranbir, and rests her head on his chest drinking in the lyrics of 'Wonderful Tonight'. Ranbir is lost in a trance, and when the song ends kanya gets up "I love this song" and she looks up, to see ranbir, she wonders 'How could I forget! I was dancing with ranbir! EEW!' "what are u dancing with me for?" she questions him, "I was doing u a favour! Gobarbole!" said ranbir coming out of his trance "Don't u dare make fun of my name!" she said angrily, ranbir couldn't help it, he chuckled, she looked so innocent and beautiful when she was angry. Kanya misunderstood his chuckle, and thought he was mocking her "Laugh as much as you want Nanda! I don't understand why are u not working for ur dad? Why ur pop kicked u out of the house, it was a matter of time!" with that kanya let go of her hands from ranbir, and walked out of the hall, she went on the deck, and bended on the railing enjoying the air, the spray of the sea hitting her face all her anger for ranbir died, when suddenly a feeling in her stomach arose.

She had not heard ranbir following her out, he wanted to correct a few things with her, but he stood there quietly admiring her, her face illuminated with the rays of the moon. He saw her standing up suddenly, she was turning green, he had to help her "Godbole whats wrong! Godbole" he screamed running to her "Ranbir I -I have…" she didn't continue, she puked on the ground some went on his pants, she went down and holding her stomach puked out of the ship, after 5 minutes, she accepted a napkin from a disgusted ranbir "as I was saying I have sea-sickness" she gasped and left for the bathroom, leaving a disgusted puke-covered ranbir thinking 'first she gives me total shit, and now puke! Godbole! Ur name should have been Gobarbole! Crap!! What are u saying crap for ranbir nanda, ur covered in it!" and he leaves for the bathroom to wash up.
