Part 6

2 Years Later:

Kanya had become a well known face in Destiny's Fashion, her idea was a hit, and from now on, every decision was taken including her opinion, but she had not gotten a promotion because of a clause in the contract, which if ignored Ranbir would have definitely used it against them. Ranbir hated the fact that kanya was better than him, he was completely ignored, but of course he had a say in all the decisions, but they weren't as important to the Destiny's as Kanya's.

Kanya was enjoying all this, it had been 2 years since she joined the organization, and she had brought them glory with no bounds. They had become even busier since they got more contracts and work. Kanya had enjoyed all this since she could see ranbir suffer, she could easily see that he didn't like this all, he wanted to bring the company to this level on his own, but it was kanya who did all this. She could sense his anger towards her increase with every passing day, and it brought a smile on her face. Annoying him mattered her the most.

But she knew she was doing this just so that ranbir quits the job, she didn't mind being in a place she didn't want to be, if it annoyed ranbir. She didn't want to be in Destiny's at all, she wanted to write all she could, she wanted to be a journalist, and she had the skills and had been the editor in the university's newspaper. Writing had been her first love, and secretly she had been working on her first novel, she wanted to make it big as an author, but her dreams were on hold as she worked in Destiny's.

Ranbir had spent the past 2 years hating kanya, his anger and hatred towards her had increased to such a level that there were days he wanted to grab her by the throat and slit her, but he had controlled his anger, because his BD would have never wanted him to do such a thing, and plus it would be a very long legal case. He thought that in a month or so his contract with Destiny's would come to an end, and he would quit and open up his own restaurant. He had promised himself, that he wouldn't use his father's money ever, he'd stand on his own, in the hope that one day his father would be proud with him. As yet, Karan isn't satisfied with his son's decision to work somewhere else when he could do so much better in the Nanda Hotels.

Ranbir shook away the feeling that his father would ever recognize him as his son; he would always think business before family. He reached his office and went in the cabin to meet the girl he hated, and his blood started to boil and he could even feel the steam coming out of his ears "What are you doing here?" he said through gritted teeth, he removed his coat and hung it on the chair, "I had to get this signed from you" said kanya, she could easily sense that ranbir was hating it. "Leave it here, I will check it out" he ordered "Fine, one question?" she asked, leaving the file on the table, "What?" he said rudely "cant u be a bit kind to me?, im trying myself!" she said slyly, she tried to sound hurt, and she knew that this would irritate ranbir even more "What is the question!" he said, ignoring what she just said "Ok, why are you here?" she asked, she wanted to know why was ranbir not working in the Nanda Hotels and why in a completely different field "eh.. godbole, I work here, if you haven't noticed" he said sarcastically. "I know, but why?" she emphasized on the last word "I don't find that important to tell you that, so if you can kindly go back to your work" he said "Fine, well so it's true then" she said, slightly let down "What's true?" he asked, not even looking up at her.


"Oh! Nothing, it's a rumor, could be true, but ur action confirmed it, ur dad must have really gotten angry with you, and disowned you" she said, leaving "Fine, kanya, get me the Caribbean Show file" said ranbir, he was busy reading the file that he didn't listen to kanya, and called her by name. Kanya would definitely never fetch this file, but when he said her name, she couldn't help it, this was the second time in 2 years that he called her by her name, and when he called her like that she'd go in a trace, she brought the file and left it on the table. She liked the way he called her kanya, shaking her head she went back to work.

3 Weeks Later

Eve's marriage preparations were going on full swing, the best part was that her wedding gown was being made by Pierre, exclusively for her. Kanya had become a close friend of eve and hence she was a bridesmaid, and everyone from Destiny's had been invited, including ranbir. The wedding took place in a chapel near the Nanda Hotel, where the reception was to be followed. Kanya was dressed in pretty lilac colored off shoulder dress; they each were holding a bunch of purple and pink mixed bouquets. When kanya came forward after Juliet, ranbir couldn't recognize her, he knew that kanya was a bridesmaid, but when he searched for her, he found of her, and she looked so beautiful, and continued staring at her that he didn't realize when the bride walked in, when she reached the altar, when they were pronounced man and wife. He kept staring at kanya, who was busy enjoying the ceremony.

Soon, it was time to reach the Hotel for the party, ranbir came forward to offer her a ride, if she wanted, he didn't know why he wanted to be with her, when he always wanted to be away from her. There was something about her today, maybe she was dressed so eloquently or maybe he wasn't used to seeing kanya so beautiful, but he hated the fact that she was ignoring her, and accepted the ride with Max. Then, ranbir remembered every moment of hatred towards kanya and realized that they could never be friends. He drove to the hotel, he tried to hide from the manager, as he recognized ranbir and would do a lot of tailing him, so that he tells Karan that the manager deserves a promotion. Ranbir went to the hall, to find his seat beside Kanya, sitting there sipping on her coke looking gorgeous, 'hang on did you just think godbole is gorgeous?' asked ranbir to himself, he went and sat beside her, she looked up, gave a fake smile and went back at enjoying the party, "listen, im not very much enjoying sitting here beside you, its unfortunate that Eve had to decide this sitting arrangement" said ranbir, kanya was half-listening to him, and kept nodding at what he was saying, ranbir wanted to slap her for ignoring her behavior, but couldn't since he could clearly see that she was more interested in the party.

He sat there and looked around, he saw nick flirting with some girls, smiling ranbir decided to go for his luck, since the best part of a wedding, is the bridesmaid. "Hang on, did you say your supposed to be sitting beside me?" asked kanya, looking at him, realizing what ranbir just said to her "I told her not to!" she shouted at nobody, "Eh…. What are you talking about godbole?" asked ranbir, "I was there; we rearranged the seating arrangement 5 times!! Nick is supposed to sit here and you there! Ugh!! She did this purposely!!! If she just had not gotten married today, rabbits would be feasting on her body!!" she was screaming, ranbir was enjoying this, kanya was getting irritated, finally! "I mean what the hell was she thinking? She knew that I hated the saandh…." "Hang on! Did you call me a saandh?"he asked, "Yaa! U know you are so why ask the question oh I will- I will- I will smash her head in the cake!"

"Listen, it's just a stupid party, and you'd probably dance there all day and so-" started ranbir "Shut up!" replied kanya, and with that ranbir fell silent. Soon, nick came over to speak to kanya, ranbir watched them talk, in the past 2 years Kanya and Nick became good friends, ranbir knew that nick had not gotten that far, because after the day she puked on him, he had made it a point to get kanya informed about nick's playboy methods. Nick had gotten back to his seat, since the bride and groom were making an enterance. "Ladies and Gentlemen! May I present you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Blake!!" and they entered, 'She looks so beautiful' sighed kanya, she was busy staring at Eve. Kanya didn't notice ranbir staring at her and whispering "Yeah, you look beautiful". The speeches were made, some cried, some laughed, and then the cake was cut, but kanya didn't smash Eve in the cake, later on she thought. Soon the dancing started and drinks were being served at full swing, kanya had never known what it felt like to be drunk. Boy was she about to know!!

Next Morning

Kanya's eyes were not opening, she felt that the entire Pacific Ocean would never quench the thirst she had, her head felt as if it would just fall off and her brain was banging inside her skull, every muscle in her body was crying with pain. There was such a bitter taste in her mouth, her tongue, she felt, was a dry piece of wood, with what her brains with the pain could make out, she was lying in some soft place, there was something soft and comfortable thing covering her. With all the energy she had, she opened 1 eye, the world was spinning, and head would burst any moment now, she tried to make out the place she was in, it looked like a room, the window was open and the sun was shining in, it was windy, she could feel the coldness from it.

She opened her other eye, and tried to get a better view, her eye muscles were paining, she tired to get up and she felt her body, she felt this was it, she was going to die, a torturous death. Once, she was up, she looked around, she was in a bed, she turned her head and saw a bottle of water, she grabbed it, and drank the water and in one gulp she finished it, but still her tongue demanded more. "Good morning!" said a voice, she tried to recognize it, but it did sound familiar, she turned around to face the source of the voice.

It was a man, he was wearing his jeans, but without any shirt, he had long hair tied in a pony, she tried to focus on his face, but it was all blurred "Here drink this" he offered her a glass with some liquid, she grabbed it as if she was some drug addict, she drank it, it gave her a kick, and things got a bit in focus, she then looked at the face, it was someone from her work, she tried thinking where she worked, who she was, who he was, "Bad hangover huh?" said the man "Im ranbir, ur kanya, we work at Destiny's and we have loathed each other since playschool"

"Water" she whispered but her voice sounded zombie-ish, "Yaa sure, there's a bottle right there, oh you finished it! Wait I'll get more" he said and went out of the room, kanya could make no sense of what was going on, she looked around the room, and she realized it was not her room, getting a bit worried she pulled the blanket a bit near it, and she realized she was wearing a huge shirt and a small pant, she remembered wearing a really uncomfortable dress, how come she was in this, the man was shirtless. She was filled with shock; did she sleep with this guy?

"Here, more water" said the man, she grabbed the bottle and finished it, "Where am I?" she whispered, again in the dead-sort of voice "My house, you were really drunk and I didn't know your place, so I brought you here" he replied "Who are you?" she whispered "as I said before, im ranbir" he said and she remembered "Nanda!" she whispered "back to your old self again, yes im ranbir and your godbole" he said, "Did we?" she asked slowly, she caught her reflection in the mirror in front of her, she looked a mess, her eyes were completely black, her eye make-up had smashed her face she looked all black and pink and ugly, her hair was completely tangled and topsy-turvy.

"Did we what?" asked ranbir, he was on his laptop on the sofa "Did we?" she repeated "What did we do kanya?" asked ranbir, he was still looking at the laptop, "did we do it?" she asked fearing the worst. Ranbir looked at her, he knew what she was thinking, if he wanted he could mess with her, butt here was something in her, that even when wanting, he couldn't do it "Did we make love? Nope, funnily, a drunk single woman in my apartment and I didn't do it with her" he said and went back on his laptop.

Kanya sighed a breath of relief, but "My clothes?" she asked, he looked up at her again "You were very uncomfortable in the dress, so I got you changed" he said in a matter-of-fact tone. "YOU WHAT!" shouted kanya, standing up on the bed, kanya winced with her shout, and looked at her "I didn't change your clothes! You think I will touch you! Yuck! My neighbor was around and she had her daughter's clothes, your wearing katie's clothes" he explained "Oh" she replied and flumped back at the bed.

From somewhere her phone started ringing, kanya didn't have the energy to answer, ranbir went and picked it up, "its adita di" he said looking at the screen "Oh shit!" she replied "Hello" said ranbir on the phone, kanya looked up at him! Great so he doesn't sleep with me, but this is how he takes revenge dog! Make up a good story to tell the world "Oh, no she is sleeping, I will tell her to call you back, and ma'am, before you jump into conclusions im the one who does her manicure" he said, kanya looked up at him, he saved her life, adita di is going to think that the guy she was with is gay, so she has to make up a story on those lines. She mouthed 'thank you' to ranbir, who nodded, he kept the phone beside her and went back to his work.

She wondered why he was being so kind to her, when her phone beeped, she had gotten a message, and she read it "Hey my sweety! You rocked the party, and your more famous than me! The bride!! kinda stole my thunder! Your way more dirtier and naughtier than I thought you'd be!" it said, the message was from Eve, why did she say that kanya was famous? And more dirtier and naughtier? She tried remembering what she could possibly have done, but couldn't remember anything, "ranbir" she said "hmm" he replied "what did I do yesterday?" she asked slowly, he looked up at her, and remembered what she did under the influence of alcohol, and he gave a sly smile to her.
