A very enthusiastic OS you have started Shirley 👏👏
I loved the way the docs have expressed their views and all of them stand a bit different to each other. Mallika's new phase has stater and it's the new bond that she is sharing with Nidhi -- now that's a new thing even i have come across !!!
The veteran docs have their opinion varying but it is Nidhi who drew attention making a statement how she feels for this new term " euthanasia " her views are taken as superior. Hope to see more of this term coming into analysis.
The murder and mercy killing are the same for the most, but for some it can be the law to be implemented. Ashu is somewhat correct that what if people will come to make amendments in the law, all resulting in the controversies and slogans.
Nidhi is ailing with something ?? Or i have read it a lone with no knowldge to it ??
Well will wait for the reports read by Ashu and the reactions after that. At the same time where i felt sad to see Nidhi's worse reports, i felt dearly loving Mallika to shed a tear for her. Such a bond that they can have, awesome !
Love U Shirley🤗 for raising an issue with more opponents and mere a few in favor !⭐️⭐️

What an absolutely delightful start👏 Luvd it to the core

Deeps🤗😛
I am so happy u enjoyed reading it.. start toh ho gaya.. but I hope I am able to handle the subject well in upcoming chapters.
U really manage to make us fall in luv wd our Ashni all over again , at the same time forcing us to think on serious issues like euthanasia...incredible writing Shirls⭐️

I am glad you loved the way I blended the portrayal of AshNi one year after marriage and my introduction of this serious subject.
the way u praise😳😃
The chap has blended a deep scholarship of the loveable Ashni with an adventurous approach abt eurhanasia all rendered in immaculate, delicious prose. Good writing takes passion. That passion may be purely intellectual or it may be driven by strong emotion. Ur writing is both visionary and practical beyond the tried and accepted to question arbitrary divisions about reading and writing and even, occasionally, to break standard rules and forms of writing. At the same time, u offer concrete debatable ideas with your alternate style maneuvers and multigenre research papers.
Now that you point out, its true that I try to involve both my heart and my mind in writing a story or poem. Writing an article or paper doesn't need any emotional connect. But yes, imo, when one writes a story, one needs to feel those emotions and like the characters.
You are bang on about the style as well.. before starting I don't really think that, okay, this time i'll try to write in this style or that.. I let the nature of the story guide my style. I just refuse to let a style bind my narration into a stereotype.
The story flows beautifully through the events in the hospital ...from a surgery to a serious discussion abt assisted suicide. Beautifully described the emotional aspects and dilemma which characters get in. This gives a very realistic touch to the story.Ashni expressions abt euthanasia leave an indelible impression with their interpretation of this extremely difficult and unconventional discussion. Thou they do not use the usual props to express grief, joy, pain and passion. If Ashu uses his vicious dialogues as his be-all and end-all Nidhi walks away with the trophy by her sheer vitality. Her outburst during the discussion and her impromptu wordings..."wud god ask...heaven" wr brilliant.
I am so glad the narration has that flow, which I feel is one of the most important aspects of a story. I am also happy that both Ashu n Nidhi's takes on euthanasia were proper in their own place.
coming to that heaven dialogue, I often wonder where ppl go after they leave this world? Yes we have heard about heaven and hell.. but isn't that a fairy tale-ish mythological crap to ensure that we behave? I meant no offence meant to those who believe in heaven or hell n certainly I don't wanna commit blasphemy.. but u know I cant help but wonder..Is it possible that what v r living (this world) is in fact heaven?
The chap has a serious n thought provoking topic but at the same time a tinge of humour that makes the reader smile n think at the same time...only u can do that.
oh my.. really,, I succeeded in that? yippee

Defining Mallika's character is worth a round of applause. Cleverly defined keeping intact her 12 yr infatuation for Ashu n a complete transformation to a supportive friend owing to her bitter experiences was very creative.

I often wonder don't bad experiences in life, often make one a better human being? of course on the other hand, they most have the opposite effect of mking them more bitter.

But here Mallika came back heartbroken,.. n Nidhi along with Ashu supported her when she needed it the most. plus this close interacrion with both of them during her vulnerable state made her see the beauty of their relationship and what 'love' means.. plus she realizes that if she loves Ashu then, his happiness should be hers as well.. of course it could have had opposite effect on her.. seeing Nidz get what she yearned for and never got could have made her more venomous towards AshNi.. but I believe that changes do occur in ur thought processes as u mature up and esp when u r vulnerable.. u r more perceptive to everything and more analytical towards everything in such a state.

Hats off for starting a story such a debatable topic⭐️

Just need your support to carry on, my dear editor cum sounding board😛..

Ashutosh countered, "okay picture this - today, you killed a patient in the name of euthanasia, and tomorrow, a new miracle cure is invented? Haven't you just committed a cold blooded murder?"

I am glad these dialogues turned out well😊

Euthanasia and its procedure have long history of locking horns as a vexed issue with laws of countries across the world. Every human being of adult years and sound mind has a right to determine what shall be done with his/her own body. It is unlawful to administer treatment to an adult who is conscious and of sound mind, without his consent. In patients with Permanently Vegetative State (PVS) and no hope of improvement, the distinction between refusing life saving medical treatment (passive euthanasia) and giving lethal medication is logical, rational, and well established. It is ultimately for the Court to decide, as parens patriae, as to what is in the best interest of the patient. An erroneous decision not to terminate results in maintenance of the status quo; the possibility of subsequent developments such as advancements in medical science, the discovery of new evidence regarding the patient's intent, changes in the law, or simply the unexpected death of the patient despite the administration of life- sustaining treatment, at least create the potential that a wrong decision will eventually be corrected or its impact mitigated.
That is so true.. every country has had its own share of history of the dilemma - both legal n moral - associated with euthanasia. The most important question IMO is "WHO" takes this decision? :
The law? But what right does a nation's law have on such a personal decision.. but then again law is important to keep civilizations alive n in order. but isn't our life our own then? Also laws, as far as I understand them, are heavily dependent on the interpretation.. so whose interpretation is valid? A judge's who does not have med knowledge? Or doesn't understand the real situation correctly?
The attending doctors? But again, who knows what aspects govern their decision? After all, it's a selfish world.. isn't it? Everyone thinks of themselves first n foremost
The family of the patient? But r they in a state to take any decision? Do they have enough med. Knowledge to understand what exactly is wrong and how much their dear one is suffering.. what decision can u take? If they decide on euthanasia, can they sleep peacefully thereafter? If they don't, would they have a moment's peace knowing that their loved one is suffering immensely and not living but just breathing (that too probably due to life support system)? N lastly In these times, what if they have Ulterior motives? It is quite common to hear cases today where a person's life or death benefits his family members financially or changes the dynamics of the family.
Or finally the patient himself or herself if in a condition to express their wishes? But imagine the psychological state of the patient! Can they take a sound decision, even if they r technically of sound mind? Think - don't we all have our "weak" moments where we get the impulse to take the easy route out of all problems? True we donot act upon those impulses .. but the impulses r there! So given an option, a patient may decide to take the easy way out.. but what if had the decision been made the next week, s/he would have made peace with their situation n decide to give another chance to life? Unfortunately the finality and irreversibility of this decision is both damning n daunting..

Really don't know wat to say but Imagine the unbearable pain and torture caused form terminal illness, makes the patient shriek from the pain, what if they cant cry anymore from the pain for they are all dried up. Why wouldn't you just end their pain instead of making them suffer? Attempt to put yourself in their place, imagine their suffering, think about how they must feel. If a person is being kept alive by a machine they are technically living but they aren't "living".

Another good point raised! What does the patient feel? Is s/he in a state to feel or understand anything? What physical, mental n psychological torture/pain/impact? .

Whats the condition of the family.. for a comatose patient or even if a patient is conscious, how many days can a family stay in or visit hospital? After all, life does not top for anyone.. kids have to go to schools, ayoungsters have their careers and professions, middle-aged have their jobs to tk care of.. and old people have their own health issues and responsibilities..

Hi Shirls 🤗
Read the magnificent start to the OS 👏 New idea commenced with much to debate and more to elaborate! Liked the idea of implementing a law that can create controversies.
Will give my review tomorrow. 😳
