Btw, Vidhishaa, your updates are real short as it is...and if more than half the update is devoted to Mallika, hardly leaves any time or space for Ashu and Nidhi...toh thoda reham karo...either make the posts longer or phase Mallika out gently ...you know, bit by bit...your story to tell...but just a suggestion!

Very nice. Ashu is getting comfortable with Nidhi thats great. I wish the updates were longer, they're too short. Please can we have a longer update😊

but my biggest complaint, actuallly two biggest complaints😳

are, first TOO much Mallika.😕

second, Very short updates.😕

Plz get rid of Mallika. want more of AshNi.

You are building the bond between Ashu and Nidhi slowly...

They started to fight like husband and wife...mention of Viraasat made me fear that we may not experience much romance as in local version, it was not there. but you made it different.

Mallika informed Ashu about her decision to relocate...both viewed it positively...that was one of the biggest ironies of their life..they seldom disagreed and going by that logic they could have made a fine couple.

One morning, when Ashu was getting dressed he noticed that Nidhi had kept some of her clothes on his side of the wardrobe.

"Oh so this is memsahab's version of gandhigiri...she resorted to this after I insisted on 50-50 division of the storage space...Gosh her clothes are spilling out from everywhere"

"Nidhi...Nidhi...did you loot a saree store by any chance..if yes then please tell me now, I don't want to be arrested by the police for concealing the goods stolen by you"

Nidhi gave a cold stare and Ashu stopped chuckling "A lot of women have double the number of clothes I have...you men needn't have a large wardrobe, how many types of shirts can one possibly have..boring pinstripes or plain ones..and trousers of 5 colours. 80% of the space must be reserved for women's clothing and accessories"

"I am getting late, shall do something in the evening"
"I have two more days of holidays left"Nidhi said with an impish smile

That night Ashu fulfilled his promise of re-organising his stuff... things which had been stowed away years ago brought back the bitter-sweet memories of his childhood. He gently opened a wooden box which was lavishly decorated with inlay work...

In it laid a rani-haar carefully wrapped in a velvet cloth...it belonged to his late mother and hence was very close to his heart.

Ashu held it in his hand and remembered how he had planned to gift it to Mallika on their wedding day...Malli loved such traditional Indian jewellery and she had admired the jewel in one of his mother's black and white photographs...He was sure that she would be delighted to wear it on their wedding day and honour his mother's memory...but that day never came and Mallika didn't become his mother's bahu.

He locked away the jewel and got busy reading a magazine...
...Nidhi entered the room, grabbed a night gown and rushed to the bathroom.Ashu got up quickly and blocked her way.."Just wait for a minute, I want to give you something"

Nidhi was dead sure that his "something" was definitely a chore which she had to finish before bathing. Her joy knew no bounds when Ashu the rani-haar around her neck..."It belonged to my mother and she'll feel good if her bahu wears it"

It was an emotional moment for both of them...the symbolism was not lost on Nidhi..Ashu adored his dead mother and gifting her jewel to Nidhi meant only one thing...that he had given her the status of his parent's bahu(along with the trappings of course). It indicated total acceptance..

It felt like a dream, oh! how could a day end with so much happiness...she has been given a heirloom. His family's heirloom !!!

Ashu was mildly surprised when Nidhi embraced him tightly. He reciprocated after hesitating for a second. Their innermost feelings were stirred and their mind relinquished its control over their actions...

All the barriers were now broken...the touch of Ashu's skin against her drove Nidhi insane with pleasure. They savoured their moment of ecstasy and found heaven in each others arms.

Ashu and Nidhi enjoyed a good marital relationship. Nidhi was a well-respected doctor now. Other doctors in KGH envied her, she seemed to have everything a woman could ask for- a loving husband, supportive elders, two bright boys and professional success.

Their elder son Shishir(10) takes after his dad- well behaved and academically inclined and their younger son Aarush(5), to Ashutosh's horror, was naughtier than Nidhi.

Ashu desperately wanted their second child to be a girl but destiny had other things in store for him...he couldn't conceal his disappointment when Nidhi refused to try again for a girl child. Their brood two boys used to tire her out...actually it was Aarush who required her constant attention, Shishir on the other hand used to stay away from mischief and loved spending time reading books on science and discussing some topics at length with his dad...In Nidhi's words he was 'papa's satellite'.

It was vacation time for the kids and Ashutosh had to attend a medical conference in Bangalore.The kids insisted on coming along but as Nidhi's had to attend a series of meetings on the high rate of infant mortality in U.P, their plans of a family vacation were scuppered.
As Ashu bid goodbye to his family, he came close to Nidhi and whispered in her ears. "Bye, I am free from shackles. I will make full use of my bachelorhood for the next few days"
Nidhi responded with a naughty smile and said "please go ahead...aapki kushi mein hi meri kushi hai"

BB smiled at the couple's light- hearted banter.

I loved it from beginning to end.

I loved the way Ashutosh accepted Nidhi into his life and heart.

Their boys. wow. you sure do believe in Leaps dont you?😆

But On the whole their family dynamics sound great.😃

One question?

Is the FF going to have an Extra Marital Affair Track? now.?😕

Plz say No.😳

couldnt bear it if Ashutosh betrayed Nidhi in that way.😭

Why the leap? I would have thought you'd go into the process of Ashu falling in love with Nidhi...what happened was just a meeting of bodies after all..?

Since you have already said no love child, I presume there is no little girl waiting for him in Bangalore courtesy Mallika...so his heart's desire is fulfilled...

Well written, Vidishaa!

Just speeded up the process..I suck at writing explicit scenes. The dynamics between Ashni will be diff from those between Ashika. Nidhi initiated it and Ashu went along hoping that it would cement their relationship. The heady passion that Ashika shared will be absent from Ashni relationship. Ashni is driven by affection and concern. Ashu loves Nidhi, he will remain faithful to her and they will have their share of nok-jhok but passion would be absent. It is more like loving someone because she loves you and is the mother of your child...love driven by a sense of duty...there won't be any love child in Ashika's life but Ashni relationship is in for trouble
