part-12

Nidhi could hardly contain her excitement - Ashutosh was going to return tonight. It wasn't as if he was gone for a long time, in fact it had been only 3 days but that didn't stop Nidhi from pronging like a gazelle. She was yet to lose her child-like enthusiasm towards life--- how could she lose it when her grandpa was around to pamper her. Ashu took care of most of the responsibilities...only the kids were supposed to listen to her. Enforcing discipline was never her strong point, she struggled to rein in the kids and sometimes, to Ashu's horror joined Aarush in making a mess.

The kids ate their meals and had gone to bed, Baba and kaka had gone to a religious function."Come Ashutosh, you are going to be my prey tonight" Nidhi spoke while admiring herself in the mirror. After final dash of coral-red lipstick, the tigress sat waiting for her prey, her purple satin nightgown had seductive black lace at strategic locations( these were however covered by a robe at present).

The bell rang at 9.30 pm, poor Ashu had no clue what awaited him at home, she looked innocent enough while serving dinner.
"Aap takh gaye honge sone jayiye"
A door opened and little Shishir came out with a book in his hand.."Papa, I have learnt all the spellings you had asked me to learn"

Ashu ruffled his son's hair and gave an endearing smile. Nidhi interrupted the display of affection by telling - "Shishir, why are you awake? it is well past your bed time..go and sleep, you can talk to your papa tomorrow". After Shishir closed his bedroom door Nidhi shook her head- "This kid is too serious...too geeky... I am worried about his future love-life"
Ashu smiled and said- "Baccha hai, it is good that he has the drive to excel...stop cracking jokes on my precious son".

Nidhi glared at Ashu and spoke in a tone similar to the one she had used on Shishir a few minutes ago-"You better go to bed, it is well past your bed time".
Ashu complied. As he stepped out of bathroom a scene straight out of an erotic novel awaited him. It was Nidhi at her seductive best...she aimed straight for his lips..her soft lips played a naughty game with his lips, her tongue explored his mouth...

Nidhi made Ashu sleep and then opened his shirt buttons one by one. Her lusty hands felt every inch of his chest while her mouth was busy with his earlobes. Ashu would have preferred a good night's sleep but Nidhi's bedroom antics aroused him and he began feeling her well-endowed chest.
It was a wild night and the course was directed by the alpha-female. Her immense desire frequently found expression in these passionate love-making sessions. They made her feel close to Ashu and re-inforced the fact that he belonged to her.

Her possessiveness only increase with time, no woman dared to get over friendly with him.

After 3 days in KGH-

Nidhi overheard Dr.Ranganath and Ashutosh's conversation. Ashutosh was telling Ranganath how the head was glad that a replacement for Dr.Rawat, a senior surgeon was found so easily. Ranganath didn't seem to share Ashutosh's mood and seemed a tad worried.

"She will come this evening and take care of the hand-off formalities" saying this Ashu handed over a file to Dr.Ranganath for scrutiny...

Nidhi wondered who could the new doctor be? she restrained herself from asking them as she knew very well that Ashu hates eavesdroppers. "It is only a matter of a few hours, I will wait " thought Nidhi.

Then storm came without any warning. Nidhi was surprised to see Dr.Mallika. She was wearing a rather dull looking yellow sari and minimal jewellery. Determination still shone on her face but the no-nonsense air about her seemed like a recent addition...

So Dr.Mallika was Dr.Rawat's replacement? Where was she for nearly a decade? and why KGH once again?

So Ashu knew about her appointment? was he somehow involved in her return? A million questions arose in Nidhi's mind.

@Sujhata- No jhoothe khaying...me full story posting...brickbats se baching

Story ahead

In order to protect myself from brickbats, I have decided to give the storyline in brief.

Ashu had met Mallika in Bangalore. He got to know that she has a 5 year old daughter. Ashu asks her to shift to Lucknow so that she can be with her support network (read Ashu).

Mallika initially hesitates but gives in after she realises that her brother would usurp her property and make her daughter a destitute in event of her untimely death.

Ashu takes an instant liking to Mallika's daughter Shreya.

Nidhi feels uncomfortable when Shreya visits their home to play with Aarush...She makes her displeasure clear with Ashu and demands to know who fathered Shreya and why is Mallika so secretive about the identity of Shreya's father.

Ashu understands what Nidhi is hinting..they have a heated exchange of words...Mallika, who had come to pick up her child hears all this and decides to reveal the truth- After her break up with Ashu, life seemed meaningless. A friend of hers suggested that she volunteer with UN or some aid agency, helping people in crisis would help her find a meaning in life. She served as a medic with ICRC, her tenure there transformed her and she found love again. The guy was a Brazilian and they had a passionate affair...he was killed when mercenaries attacked a relief camp...soon she found that she was pregnant. She returned to India and stayed in Bangalore so that her kith and kin don't come to know about her pregnancy..her aim was to shield Shreya from the taint of illegitimacy and hence told her neighbours that she was a widow...Adi's avarice had increased and she knew that he wouldn't shy away from killing her and Shreya.

Nidhi insinuates that since Mallika failed to ensnare Ashu, she wants her daughter to complete her unfinished job by gaining Ashu's paternal affection...and who knows, she might even try to ensnare her sons once they grew up.

Mallika cries and tells that she has no intention of snatching either her rights or those of her children...all she wanted was to ensure that her child would be taken good care of after her death. An orphan girl child is vulnerable to all forms of abuse and Ashu was the only person whom she trusts to look after her kid as if she were his own.

She wanted Ashu to be the godfather of her child...

A series of dialogues later, Nidhi comes to know the inherent virtues of Ashu. His sense of morality and uprightness makes her feel small...she starts respecting him for the integrity of his character...they rediscover each other's qualities...Nidhi falls in love with Ashu all over again... A whole new relationship based on trust and faith develops between them.

Meanwhile, Mallika files an RTI application to unearth details about irregularities in the procurement of medicines by the state govt. The media hails her initiative but she fails to get the protection that needs to be given to a whistleblower.

MAllika is shot dead in broad daylight by hired goons of corrupt ministers and bureaucrats. Her case gets sensationalized. Since the ruling party in the state is a rival of the party in power in the centre, the powers that be in Delhi have a vested interest in getting justice for Mallika...Political drama follows(involving CBI raids, forensic reports being fudged and tampering of evidence).

The guilty are punished and Nidhi takes Shreya under her wing.

I have presented the story in brief. The ff is hereby shelved.

The story was going banal...and chopping the story into chapters wasn't feasible...I would have made the readers jittery

I agree with you on the chopping part...forget the readers getting jittery...it would have spolt the charm if you had kept it as short as you normally do...you could have made this a five part series, you know...with slightly longer chapters...whatever, I am disappointed that I did not get to read the whole story...and had to settle for a condensed version instead...KPji would have been glad to read it for sure...cause this is line with what he had in mind!
