this is my first ff on this forum. Please do read it and give your suggestions

Part-1
"Ashu... Ashu... Ashu wake up!! how can you sleep peacefully when you are fully aware that our results are going to be declared today? " Mallika shouted at Ashu as she stormed into Ashu's room...They were friends ever since they were toddlers and as their families knew each other, they had free access to each others house.
Ashu pulled Mallika onto the bed and said "lo tum bhi so jao"...Mallika chided him and got up. Though they never had any gender-related inhibitions with each other, this action of his had scope for misinterpretation. Of late, Mallika felt a little something when Ashu got too close to her...
Mallika pushed Ashu into the bathroom and entered the kitchen to help Hiraman Kaka fix Ashu's breakfast. As she was chatting with kaka, dadi bua entered the house. She wasn't related to Ashu in anyway but seemed to take a special pleasure in insulting Mallika.
Ashu was the son of Adarsh Mathur,who was the business partner of Dr.Mathur. Following the death of Ashu's parents and sister in a car crash, Dr Mathur brought him into his house and took care of his dead father's estate. Dr. Mathur's daughter Nandini was dead, his son in law Colonel Verma and Grand daughter Nidhi were frequent visitors to his house. Dadi bua was Colonel's aunt. Mallika was the daughter of Dr.Trehan, who was a close friend of Ashu's late father.
Mallika ignored Dadi bua's presence and carried food into Ashu's room...DB gave her a stern look and turned to Dr.Mathur(aka Baba) "Mujhe is ladki ke lakshan kuch acche nahi lagte, dekhiye zara kis besharmi se woh ek jawan ladke ke kamre mein ja rahi hai...agar yehi hota raha na toh dekh lena, aapka Nidhi ko is ghar mein lane ka sapna tooth jayega"..DB left in a huff..Baba thought for some time but dismissed DB's concern with a laugh...he knew Ashu better.
It was evening and Ashu came running and announced that he has got an opportunity to do research in a leading institute in England. Colonel Verma and Nidhi, who were there for dinner, beamed with happiness. DB was about to move to bring some sweets when Meena Trehan entered with a plateful of Kaju barfi...she was there to celebrate Ashu and Mallika's sucess...DB's face fell...she felt as if her dreams for Nidhi will remain unfulfilled...her objections notwithstanding, Baba gave his assent to Ashutosh...Nidhi's heart was filled with a mixture of happiness(for Ashu's success), sadness(for his absence) and fear(of him falling in love with Mallika) when she watched him and Mallika leave for the airport a month later
