place where caring and well equipped doctors would treat patients with

very professional and concrete person when it came to his work. His deep black

Part 2
Ashutosh was shocked to see Nidhi… the confident Dr Nidhi whom he met at her college convention few weeks back , the intellectual Dr Nidhi who had captivated him with her smart answers and analysis when he had gone as a guest speaker at the cardiology convention organized by her college , the playful Dr Nidhi who had created a strange kind of happiness in the mind of the ever brooding Dr Ashutosh, the talented Dr Nidhi who had won the praise of Dr Prof. Lalwani. Dr Lalwanis words were still ringing in Ashutosh's mind . Prof Lalwani had told Ashutosh after the lecture… " Ashutosh she reminds me of how you were during your college days. Inquisitive, hardworking and sincere. She also has this gang like you.. the three of them are really close. It would always remind me of how you, Armaan and Mallika would defend each other and work as a group." Ashutosh came back to the present to find a confused intern waiting for his signature… " Dr Payal, please fill the name of the patient as DR NIDHI. She will be my patient. Please monitor her vitals carefully and keep me updated. I shall be in my room. Please inform Dr Ranganath to take care of the legalities. Saying this ashutosh stole a glance of Nidhi and walked away ever composed.
The moment Ashutosh entered his cabin, something very strange happened. Tears which had never fallen form his eyes ever since his mom passed away were betraying him and falling freely from his eyes.
The strong ever assuring Ashutosh was unable to see Nidhi shattered like a broken mirror. He immediately picked the phone and called Armaan.
Ashutosh: Armaan… where are you?
Ananya: Ashu bhaiya…main ananya. Kaise hai aap?
Ashutosh: Choti.. Armaan kahan hai… jara bula do na…
Ananya: Bhaiya who toh khana kaa rahe hai.. emergency hai kya…main bula deti hoo.
Armaan: Abe bol kya hai…
Ashutosh: armaan…..(armaan could feel a strange worry in ashutosh's voice which was very atypical of him)
Armaan: kya baat hai ashu tu itna disturbed kyo hai?
Ashutosh: Yahan ek accident ka case hai… main chahta hoon ki too bhi use dekh le.. just to assure everything is ok.
Armaan: Acha mein kal subah dekh loo?
Ashutosh: Armaan abhi aa jao naa please.
It was very very rare that ashutosh said please to armaan. Such formalities had been left behind long ago between them.
Armaan: acha main bas 10 minute mein pahunchta hoon.
Armaan just informs ananya and leaves. Ashutosh is pacing up and down in his room. Armaan enters to see Ashutosh's scared face.
Armaan: chal…patient kahan hai?
Ashutosh: Trauma Care ICU mein.
Armaan: kaun hai re.. aur tu itna disturbed kyu hai…
Ashutosh: NIDHI hai…
Armaan stopped for a minute to stare at Ashutosh and started walking again.
Ashutosh: tum pehle use dekh lo. Phir mere cabin mein baat karenge.
Armaan checked her and found that she had a hairline fracture on her left foot ankle. Otherwise the wounds were superficial. Armaan indicated all was well and walked back to ashutosh's cabin in silence. Ashutosh kept looking at Armaans face in anticipation.
Armaan: Ashu, shes ok. Wounds are all superficial. She is unconscious due to shock and nothing else. Has her family been informed?
It had not struck ashutosh till now that her parents had to be informed.
Ashutosh: I don't really know anything about her. But there is one way we can find out. Prof. Lalwani.
Armaan: tu fikar mat kar. I will get Dr Ranganath to do the needful. Shall I tell you something…hiraman kaka would have slept by now. Come home with me. your sister has made gobhi ke parathe. Freshen up, eat and come back.
Ashutosh considered Ananya his younger sister. It was Ashutosh who had helped Ananya adjust in Armaans family as they were married very early and she was very young. She called Ashutosh as BHAIYA and Ashutosh called her "CHOTI".
Ashutosh: nahi yaar. Am going to stay here. Until I hand her over to her relatives I wouldn't be at peace. I will ask Ahmad Chacha to send me some sandwiches.
Armaan agreed and left. He knew Ashutosh very well. He would never leave her side until her relatives arrived.
Ashutosh sat in his cabin waiting for the nurse to arrive, checking on the door every few seconds.
The wait finally ended and the nurse arrived with the news that seemed the elixir of life for Ashutosh.
She had gained conscious and was waiting to be shifted to a ward. Ashutosh signed the papers and asked the nurse to shift her to a private room and said he would come to check her in few minutes.
Ashutosh sat in his room recalling his conversation with Armaan and Mallika the day he had come from the convention at Armaans place. He was telling them he had a strange feeling for this girl whose infectious smile and warm nature had turned him topsy turvy. Mallika immediately said " Ashutosh maine socha bhi nahi tha ki tum bhi kissi se pyaar kar sakte ho. I am really happy for you. But how are you going to meet her. You have no reason right."
Armaan was already pulling him. He just silenced the two of them saying " you two are just being too partial to your friend. Tumne uske bare mein kabhi socha kya.. Voh mujhse 14-15 saal choti hai shayaad. May be She respects me as a senior cardiologist whom she met at her college that's it.
Ananya came and sat beside Ashu and said " bhaiya aap bahut acche insaan hai aur acche logoon ke saath accha hi hota hai. If it is destined then she will definitely be by your side one day."
Pari and Aadrika had come in and the conversation had changed course to something insignificant.
-------
Nidhi was shifted to a private room as per his instructions and he was informed.
Nidhi had gained consciousness and was in very intense pain. As she opened he eyes, they met the face that had made her life worthwhile since her final year convention. It had been the last lap of her presentations before her exams and now her results would be there in a few days. It had been 8 weeks, 4 days since she first saw him. His charismatic personality had totally swept her off her feet. Anji and Rohan had already guessed it and were teasing her since then. she would always fake irritation and refusal but her heart knew it was HIM
"Feeling better ,Dr Nidhi?" Ashutosh asked in a tone that melted her from within
" I am ok sir" she coyly replied and then it suddenly struck her where she had landed. The tempo van approaching her as she was walking to the orphanage after buying some medicines, she remembered screaming and then she was here.
