well said.the hospital scenes made me sit up and watch.those are gone.Imagine well qualified people sitting at home, eating noodles.fooling around.dr mallika rotating her eyeballs is even more irritating. God knows who mallika treats.she is forever behind dr A.no job for her too.

the one u r talking was about the golden period of indian tv...
lot of experimentation and concept...where woman did not fight with saas...rather she stood up against society or loved ones for equality, justice and survival...
with the notorious saas bahu drama and it's success and the entry of monstrous TRP...creativity started loosing battle...golden period started heading back to cave age period...sad but truth u will on come up with only few who tried to step out of this worthless genre...
since it's a commercial world...trp is was used by sponsors for marketing the product, they like the biggest exposer...but trp system has loopholes...it has come under scrutiny of the government because it's misleading and is hurting broadcasters, advertisers but more importantly the viewers.
...not only this show but many others had become the victim of this mega monster...gov. is working to bring the fair deal, but no sure how long will it be before we start seeing the change...
i have noticed ,specially the last decade the people and outlook has changed a lot...people r ready for innovation and experiment ..they want change this is not just in urban it's also in smaller cities..and so when u look at the shows toping the chart it just confuses u because same concept ,same emotional mayhem ,or old wine new bottle story r still up there...so another reason trp may be misleading...
and about coming to this show can't deny that initial 50 some episode were well done...but unfortunately trp no was not looking bright and to please the MASS they started trying every trick and ruined it for the CLASS. u always see articles by Tanu and other members about positives of the show..it was reaching to the people who wanted to see different...and has got critical acclaim too.
they still can turn around the things...it's choice of creativity or commercial success...hopefully for a change they choose the former one...give us something to look forward to...

there r lot of talented writers, directors and actors in the entertainment world ...but they get pressurized to make changes to rack up the moolahs...

...Well they will say all for TRP's...but what they are showing in KTLK will not bring any TRP's ...hating the kind of relationship they are portraying...Ashni love story completely lack emotions and warmth...there is no message of love has no age-bar...I too married someone who is almost ten years older to me ( can't be compared to Ashu in age) had lost his parents in very early age...but the kind of equation we share is entirely different...not even for once I never thought he was different from me..agree in practical circumstances my relaince on him his more due to his experience but still I give credit to his struggled childhood than age as compared to my sheltered upbringing... ...
In every day life words lik beta you do this or it never happens like that or my baby i hear from him...but it doesn't say that we are different from others...we are just like any normal couple...CV's have just spoiled a beautiful concept which had so much potential to stand differently among saas -bahu shows...Malika=Nidhi relationship is no less than saas-bahu saga...Ashu another character from such shows who like an obedient goes and confides in his mom malika...where is his maturity and experience of life?

Excellent points all of u ...really nothing more to add.
Me too from the same generation as the post maker...grew up with all the beautiful serials mentioned...
Today's TV has turned commercial and hence they have forgotten the link between viewers and the story teller...now they r more interested in the link between the sponsor and the TRPs...Sad ,very sad !!

Totally agree with you both piyu & soccer

@piyu...same is the case here...with minor changes/adjustments ...one leads a completely normal life...no need to run to a third person to get the permission even to drink water or report ...

Loved the post dear. Agree with u that what they are showing is sheer crap.

And pls no one is ever too old to express their views on this forum. I am not a blushing teenager myself. Am happily married with 2 kids but enjoy interacting here in my free time.

And btw calling them juveniles is putting it mildly...i think we should call them imbeciles...cause Ashni are behaving like totally brainless idiots...not a top-notch brain surgeon or a 14th tanker from medical college.

Hope to read more from u in future also. Unfortunately i have not watched the shows u have mentioned. By the time i got to watching tv it was in the days of think and all saas-Nanu dramas.

@ noodle2808...

My hubby is 41...almost all grey hair, wears specks and has even a bald patch...is 9 yrs elder to me...so i think i should start singing...kaa karoon raam mujhe budha mil gaya...:)

Absurdity personified is what they are showing. Even if it is for TRP they can show something logical and believable instead of churning out such crap.

I know! totally rubbish. Who gives a damn about grey hair - it doesn't matter. Showing Nidhi giving him hair dye is absurd. Totally rubbish. Plus why is she listening to Mallika? rubbish

The writers have totally lost it or never had it, to begin with! LOL
My hubby is 37 and he and his sister have had grey hair since they are 15. My SIL has been dying her hair ever since. I met and married a man with grey hair who didn't even dye it for our wedding and I couldn't care less!
Today I am totally on Anji's side. It is very very selfish of Nidhi to be talking about her problems and seeking solution every time.Every time Anji talks about her heartache, Nidhi brushes it aside. I am glad, Anji is standing up for herself. When Nidhi needed a friend, Anji was there (unhappy about the relation but there). Now when Anji needs one, all Nidhi says is "arey, tu fikar kyun karti hai, sab theek ho jaayega!". All she cares about is Dr, Ashu's white hair, whether to gift him hair dye!?!
I too grew up watching the shows you mentioned and as soon as all these saas-bahu drama started, I stopped watching TV altogether. Then came to US and have been watching only Firangi shows coz they are far more sensible than our Indian crap!! Started watching Hindi shows after 15 yrs only coz of the promos of KTLK and such a HUGE HUGE disappointment it is now!
Is they will continue with this storyline and BD's, I think they'll have to wrap th eshow up in short time coz of low TRP's.

so agree with you ... was watching this serial for Mohnish Behl... and some how liked the way they started the serial... but it has gone awry along the way... occasionally do watch it to see if there is some positive change in the story... but its just not what it seemed to be in the begining...
