I would have had my guard on after the hospital break-up, but as Sona says, she understood why he did what he did. He knew he had made a huge mistake the second she said "Goodbye Mr.Dixit." His expression was on point and perfect.

So understanding his feelings, I would have given another chance, just like Sona. But there is no way I would have married right away like that. It was way too soon. I would have sat him down and talked about how I felt and what he did and how trust was broken. I would give it at least a year or so, maybe more, to see how we fare, before even thinking of considering a proposal.

Yeah I agree. Honestly I generally also feel like Sonakshi and Dev got married too early. They barely were dating for 2 months I think..that's hardly any time.

Vaise bhi my family generally has the culture of waiting 2 years before marriage even when it's arranged or love.

A year before engagement and another year after engagement. You need time to get to know anyone.

Exactly. It was too early. Dev and Ishwari were both paranoid that Sona will be gone forever and rushed into things. They should have taken at the 6 months later wala date that was suggested. Instead, they got married the next week itself. There was no way it would have been a smooth ride, after so much speeding.

Interestingly, if you remember, when Dev and Sona revealed their relationship, neither of them talked about marriage. They simply informed their families that they were together. I don't think either of them were looking to get married right away. Dev always said "whenever I propose......" Even Sona, after the family pic debacle, tells Dev that they need to give everyone time.. But after their relationship becomes known and the Bose family drops in for an unannounced visit, things spiral out of hand, resulting in breakup. And after the patch-up, Dev goes for proposal since he is worried about losing her again.

I believe, if left on their own, without any family interference, both Dev and Sona would have taken a while to decide to get married and just would have continued dating.

I agree with the what you have said about sonakshi bringing in their past into the present doesn’t actually help the situation, but one cannot deny that the crux of this problem is dev himself who refuses to face any situation head-on. He would rather ignore or find a quick fix which doesn’t actually address the issue, only for it to later resurface in a much bigger way. Every time sonakshi has voiced out her issues to dev, he has either pacified her or asked her to move on from the issue. The basic problem here is that in every issue sonakshi is the one who has faced the brunt of it, be it the ishwari’s hatred in dating period or post marriage. Dev has always been a bystander. So unless sonakshi’s insecurities aren’t addressed permanently, she isn’t going to let the past go. The onus is on dev now as to whether he wants to permanently solve it or continue reliving the reality of their past.

100% true!!

When Ishwari can emotionally blackmail & manipulate Dev into doing whatever she wishes most of the time on the basis of their difficult past and as a consequence Sonakshi had to always bear the major brunt of it, I think it is completely acceptable for Sonakshi to bring up the past ocassionally in their arguments. It is not that she does it all the time. She has for the most part been understanding & mature enough to let go off most of the matters which she could have taken umbrage or offense of, given the maa beta's propensity to disregard her feelings & make her feel like an outsider all because of their toxic relationship which is a direct result of their past experiences. So even if she does bring the past into their present, it makes sense considering Deveshwari's past has majorly contributed to all the problems faced/ being faced her, by Devakshi as a team & now it is affecting even the matters relating to their children. Until the root cause of the problem is taken care of, this reference to the past is bound to occur. The day Dev comes out of his past & acknowledges the present with an open mind, even Sonakshi's frustration about the maa beta's fixation about their past will disappear & she will stop referring to it . Irony is that she referred to the past only once in their recent argument but she gets blamed for it when it is the maa beta who should be blamed for bringing their past into the present all the time.

Totally.

Remember the day after their wedding. Dev starts to apologize and she wants to forget everything and start afresh.

She does this post-leap also. Wants a clean slate.

Poor girl keeps having to clean the slate though.

Its been only a year or so since they've reunited. itna bhi koi past nhi hai

also her mother might've died months ago am sorry thats present. people take years to deal with a parent's death. honestly would've screamed if my partner referred to my loved one's recent or non recent death even as "purani baat"

I selected hospital break up scene. It is understood that he can never go against his mom. He says he loves Sonakshi but when given a choice , Sonakshi is never his first option. She always have to adjust and give in. Even getting back, his mom agreed to the wedding so he came back to her. During the break up post marriage he showed no respect for her. During that time on the name of pay back he was flirting with other women where as Sonakshi was bringing up their child. She found a good friend Jatin and her family wanted her to move on with him but she stood firm on her decision.

I doubt if anything has changed. Now the new track , again Sonakshi is at the receiving end of his behaviour. But as always , they always they show women struggling and being at the loosing end of the string . I guess it might be because we have this feeling a good wife/daughter in law never should question the system even if the system is wrong.

I really wanted to see Sonakshi finding a male business partner who treats her like a queen with loads of respect and appreciation. He should be able to show Dev who the real Sonakshi is and how she needs to be treated. Even the kids should start highlighting the difference with the way their father treats their mother vs this new man. Dev takes Sonakshi for granted. I really want to see an insecure Dev and he needs to understand importance of Sonakshi in his life .

I would also love an insecure and retrospective dev but i don't think he will ever be. man has a huge ego and he'd probably only blame sonakshi for his jeaolousy

even with the jatin track he kept blaming her when he himself had been with countless women

You are right . Its not because character's like cant accept their mistake . The question is how many viewers would accept such a track?? Reason being moral values assigned to a woman and man are very different . Ideally it shouldnt be but thats not how majority sees it. When a man waver's its because of the challenges he faces/ lack of support from his wife etc etc. But the when a woman does it , her character will be questioned . No one will think of what she went through to walk that path. Thats is the reality.

Approach is changing but a long way to go....

Not just the audience even the makers are misogynistic.

I barf everytime someone is like Dev is so nice. Uh nice where, because he took care of teh baby for 6 months, which every single father should do.

The YouTube commets are a cesspool of sexism which I can't handle
