Sonakshi rubbed her eyes groggily and sat up on her bed.

She looked at the clock on her bedside table and sighed. It was already 8:30 AM and she had promised Asha she would be at the hotel by 9:30!

Sonakshi groaned and hurried to the bathroom. It was all Dev's fault. She had been awake all night first thinking about him and then having spotted his car, thinking about all the possibilities as to why he was outside at 2 in the morning. It was only a little after 5 that she lost the battle with her sleep and succumbed to it. All in all she would have to function on 3 and a half hour of sleep. Oh, how wonderful.

Fifteen minutes later she came out of the bathroom and made a beeline for her cupboard. As she stood there selecting which kurti she would wear, her phone begun its shrill cry. Picking out a random blue one, she laid it on her bed and hurried to her phone. She answered it without paying attention to the caller ID. As she looked for a matching dupatta, she put the phone to her ear.

"Hello?

She heard some shuffling on the other side and then, "Dr. Sonakshi?

Sonakshi stopped rummaging through her closet and smiled, "Haan Ranveer. Boliye.

Ranveer was sitting on the couch in Dev's office. He was in between Tina and Riya. And Dev was leaning on his table as he stood opposite to them. The phone was on speaker.

He gave another pause. "Aap mujhsey gussa hai kya?

Sonakshi laughed, "Nahin. Kal raat ko thi. Par ab nahin hoon. She could hear his sigh of relief.

"Toh aap mujhsey mil rahi hai na aaj? Ranveer asked when Dev prompted him with his eyes.

Sonakshi's eyes widened and she slapped her forehead, "Hey Bhagwaan. Main toh bhool hi gayi thi. Abhi toh main Ma, Elena aur Raunita ke saath shopping ja rahi hoon kyunki I've taken a day off aaj. I'm so sorry. Mere dimaag se hi nikal gaya.

Dev looked absolutely distraught hearing that. All of them could see how much he wanted to see her. Ranveer pretended to laugh lightly, even though he was nervous.

On the other side Sonakshi heard Ranveer laugh a little, "Koi baat nahin Dr. Sonakshi. Main sham ko bhi mil sakta hoon aapsey.

She released the breath she had been holding, "Thank God. Phir Shaam ko hi milte hai. Phir hum discuss karlengey aapke issues.

Dev smiled slightly at that. Everyone sighed in relief around him. Then Ranveer agreed, "Aahar me miley?

Sonakshi pondered on that for a few seconds. She didn't want to face Dev by any chance. But then she remembered that it was a weekday and that Dev would be busy. So she smiled and said, "Sure.

Ranveer sounded satisfied, "Theek hai. Aur haan Dr. Bose, Kal raat ke liye sorry. Main Dev ki taraf se maafi mangta hoon.

Dev made a face. He wanted to say that he wasn't sorry at all. But that wasn't Dev. He felt sorry alright. But he would never say that out loud.

Sonakshi sighed, "Uski koi zaroorat nahin. Main Dev ko achhi tarah se janti hoon. Aap logo ki koi galti ho hi nahin sakti. Don't worry.

Dev furrowed his brows at that.

With that Sonakshi bid him goodbye and hung up. She had realised it last night itself, that Riya, Tina, Neha and Ranveer had looked apprehensive. They looked sorry while Dev was being his arrogant self. It wasn't their fault that Dev ruined Sonakshi and Jatin's dinner. And next time she met Dev, whenever that is, she would tell him exactly what he needed to hear.

Dev paced the floor as Riya, And Ranveer looked on. Neha came with her glass of cold coffee and sat on the other side of Ranveer. They were all at Aahar, sitting at a secluded table in a corner. She sipped it and then turned to her boyfriend and her sister.

"Kya chal raha hai?

Ranveer pointed at Dev and said, "Tumhara bhai pagal ho gaya hai.

Dev glared at them, but continued his pacing, while Neha nodded seriously. She took another sip.

"Par kyun?

Riya made a sad face, "Sona Di Ranveer jeeju se milne ane waali hai. Bhaiyya dukkhi hai ki woh unseye milneye nahin aa rahi.

Dev glared again.

Neha nodded again. And then she took another sip.

"Par Sonakshi Ranveer se milne aney waali hai, toh Bhaiyya yahan kya kar rahe hai?

Ranveer cocked his head to the side looking at Dev.

"Dev usey yahan se hijack karke baat karna Chahta hai. Yeh poochne ke liye ki woh Jatin uska boyfriend hai ya nahin. Aur ussey maafi bhi mangna hai Dr. Sonakshi se, kal raat ke liye

This time Dev something more than just glaring. He stopped pacing, turned to his three spectators and said in a calm scary voice, "Woh uska boyfriend nahin ho sakta. Aur main maafi kyun maangoon? Mujhey Sonakshi se kuch aur baat karna hai.

Neha nodded. Ranveer nodded. Riya nodded. Then they turned to each other and said in unison, "Kuch aur baat karna hai.

Dev grimaced, "Tum logo se toh baat karna hi bekar hai.

And then he resumed his pacing while his spectators looked on, until Ranveer suddenly tapped his chin, pretended to think, turned to Riya and Neha and said, "Agar woh nahin ayi toh?

Dev stopped his pacing again and silently looked at them. Riya pretended to think too and then gasped dramatically, " Bhaiyya ka toh dimaag aur bhi kharab ho jayega

Neha sipped her coffee again. "Nahin Riya, Dimaag kharab nahin. Seedha dil pe vaar. Heart attack ayega.

The three of them nodded seriously again. Ranveer turned to Neha, "Tumhare hospital le jayengey kya Dev ko?

Riya disagreed, "Nahin nahin. Wahan Sona Di mil jayengi. Humein bhaiyya ko penthouse le jana padega. Jahan dil toda, wahin jodengey.

The three of them nodded again.

Dev wanted to strangle them. But before he could utter a word Riya squealed.

"Aa gayi! she said pointed to the door behind Dev.

And all the rest looked towards it to find Sonakshi stepping into the restaurant.

Sonakshi stepped inside. She was a few minutes late. She hoped she hadn't kept Ranveer waiting for too long. She looked around and spotted Ranveer waving at her from a corner table. He was alone.

She walked towards the table. Ranveer stood up to greet her. Sonakshi smiled.

"Sorry main thodi late ho gayi.

Ranveer waved it off, "Koi baat nahin Dr. Sonakshi. Koi jaldi nahin hai mujhey.

Ranveer saw to it that she had settled in her seat properly and then begun.

"Issey pehley ki main kuch kahoon, main yeh clear kar dena Chahta hoon, ki we meant no harm kal sham ko. I'm sorry ki humney aapka dinner ruin kar diya.

Sonakshi nodded negatively, "Maine kahan na aapsey. Aapki koi galti nahin thi. Why are you apologising.

Ranveer sighed, "Then I hope aap usey bhi apologise karne dengi jisey karna chahiye.

Sonakshi furrowed her brows, "I'm sorry, main kuch samjhi nahin.

Ranveer smiled guiltily, "I'm sorry Dr. Sonakshi. Mujhey dosti ke khatir yeh karna pada. I hope aap mujhey galat nahin samjhengi.

Sonakshi looked utterly confused. So Ranveer ended her confusion by pointing behind her. Sonakshi turned around to find someone standing behind them and looking at her.

Dev.

This was going to be an interesting evening.

She looked back at Ranveer. He stood aap, "Aap dono ko baat karna chahiye. Yahi best hai. I'm sorry agar aapko yeh bura laga, par Dev mera dost hai and aap bhi. Main aap dono ko iss tarah nahin dekh sakta.

Sonakshi didn't say anything. She just looked back at Dev who looked his usual calm, impassive self. Ranveer walked away as Dev took the seat opposite to Sonakshi.

"Mujhey appointment lene ki zaroorat nahin padegi phir? she asked him.

Dev stared at her and then sighed, "Dekho Sonakshi..

Sonakshi didn't let him finish, "Kya chahiye aapko? Itna sab kuch karke bhi aapka mann nahin bhara?

Dev looked down guiltily, "Main tumhey hurt nahin karna Chahta tha Sonakshi. Mujhey pata nahin kal kya ho gaya tha. Par jab maine uss ladke ko tumharey saath dekha...

Sonakshi softened, "Toh kya Dev?

His eyes widened hearing her address him as Dev again. He detested hearing Mr. Dixit from her lips. It was like music to his ears.

He stared at her a bit longer and then said, "Toh..mujhey bohot gussa aa gaya. I know I had no right to spoil your evening. Par main tumhey kisi aur ladke ke saath nahin dekh sakta.

Sonakshi looked at him hopeful, "Kyun?

Dev stayed silent.

Sonakshi gave up. "Mujhey pata tha. Aap me kabhi ussey accept karne ki himmat thi hi kahan? "

With that she got up and made her way out the door. Dev was out right behind her, "Sonakshi, ruko!

He ran and caught up to her. Gripping her hand he whirled her around. Sonakshi wrenched her hand free, "Abh kuch aur bhi kehna hai aapko?

"Haan. He said breathlessly.

Sonakshi waited. Dev took a deep breath.

"Main tumhey kissi aur keh saath nahin dekh sakta kyunki...

Sonakshi readied herself for another disappointment.

"Kyunki Main tumsey bohot pyaar karta hoon.

So how was it? No no, this isn't the end of the confrontation silly! It's just the beginning. Because the entire next chapter will be dedicated to their confrontation.

You might ask ki why start with the confession. Well then i would like to tell you that their issue was never the confession. in fact they both know that very well. The battle is to handle the love right?
