@all: Great discussions about the issue of manhandling vs. consensual foreplay. I personally saw it as the latter as well, in which Sona was a willing participant. Any doubts I had were put to rest when Sona retorted, "It's Dr. Bose for you, Mr. Obodhro." Those are very intimate references and nicknames that they shared when they were very much a couple and from their mention, I thought it was clear that Sona was in that space along with Dev. Dev stumps Sona with his actions, Sona stumps Dev with her words.
Sex/sexuality is a complicated beast and l suppose the way you view yesterday's scene depends a lot on how you view Dev. If his acts are irredeemable to you and he is an outright villain, then yesterday may look like manhandling, but if you see him as half of this suppressed, electric soulmate connection, then it looks like dark, coded foreplay.
*As a mod, a reminder that all views are equally welcome and mocking someone for seeing the scene differently is unfair*
Some other points of interest:
They focused on the picture that Sona gave Ishwari on her birthday, and soon after showed Dev giving Saurabh and Ronita something similar. I thought that was a beautiful echo. It also shows the undertone that Ishwari has to understand -- if she is to have any hope of getting her son back, it can only happen through Sona. He touched her feet for the first time in (I assume) seven years in the Bose house. I don't think that was a coincidence. Give Dev the tools to be a good son to you, Ishwari; don't resist Sona's magic touch and let Dev be part Bose; it gives Dev the desire and strength to be a happy Dixit (and you need a LOT of strength for that).
I loved the juxtaposition of Saurabh/Ronita with Sona/Dev. The former are very much in that innocent, puppy-love stage -- very similar to where Devakshi were during Neha's wedding. It was really effective to see their playful little games, with Saurabh manufacturing angst out of nothing, while on the other hand we have Devakshi drowning in the depths of their intense history. Saurabh pretending to be anangr just to hear those three words from Ronita vs. Dev and Sona, for whom anger is the only acceptable emotional outlet for their overwhelming feelings, anger which they are using to mask the too obvious presence of those same three words. Good stuff.
Dev and Bijoy are too cute. The tashan between sasur-damad is running just a few stops behind (ex)pati-patni. First comes tashan, then comes silly mind games, then Soha ke liye decency, and finally, one fateful night, mussoorie ki kasam, pyar ho hi jayega. 😳 Bijoy is not a hard man to please, and I am glad he is there to make sure Dev toes the line. Dev just needs to remember they are on the same side.
