For Sona it was her family's financial status/pride , and the power Ishwari held over their relationships.

It's not easy for Sona to share both the points with Dev

If she discusses her family's financial status, it will be construed as asking for financial assistance by Dixit family. As it is Sonakshi is termed as gold digger and her family as cheat/thief.

Second point is absolute No-No. You can not be open about a guy's mother if the guy is like Dev. A devoted son can never hear anything against his mom.

The other neutral topics on which Sona had opened to Dev be it Vicky's job, or Neha's marriage she was royally snubbed by Ishwari and later Dev.

Completely agree, Geena. In fact Sona said clearly, when Asha asked her, that she wouldn't be attracted to Dev if he was the type to leave his mother for her. That is precisely what Vicky threatened to do if Mami didn't accept Elena. So expecting Dev to do the same and Sona to be okay with it would be completely out of character, both for Sona and for Dev. It was to Ishwari's discredit that, instead of appreciating the fact that they never dangled that threat to silence her, she chose to use this loyalty to her advantage in her manipulative games.

@gmgi: There is a fundamental difference between Dev-Ishwari and Son-Bijoy relationship. Dev loves, fears and reveres Ishwari. Sona loves and respects Bijoy. Sona is independent and takes her own decision but Dev is not like that. He can change or go back in his decision just to satisfy Ishwari. Sona knew about Ishwari's insecurity, but she thought with love and care the daughter in law can remove that insecurity from her mother-in-law. She worked towards that goal too. The problem is she has always offered Dev an understanding shoulder but did not get any such shoulder in return.
@sam: Neither Dev can be Vicky nor Sona can be Elena. So we can't even compare why Elena could fit into the Dixit household and Sona could not.

@general: Regarding Bijoy's daughter vs Ishwari's son ... after marriage Sona withstood Ishwari's son 24x7 days but Dixit clan and Dev could not even bear one day of Bijoy's daughter 😊

@Sam Thanks. Yes absolutely I agree, I would say both Ishwari and Bijoy approached their relationship with prejudice . Both of them thought that it was doomed from the beginning. When Ishwari was subtle in her ways , Bijoy was too loud . Even now both of them failed to see/acknowledge the happiness this relationship brought to their children , but only chose to see despair n misery it brought .
Ofcourse you would be Sona , I can totally see that , which is why I'm so jealous of people like you,Deepa etc 😆 .

True , which are the reasons they were not ready to open up about it. But both of them fail to fathom the sensitivity these topics brought in each other . Iin reality they both were willing to accept those , for Dev Sona's financial status never mattered , but never realized Sona was sensitive about the same . Regarding Ishwari even though she was not very vocal , she tried to give hints , and Dev was also somewhat aware of it .

I still feel Sonakshi did right by not opening up in these 2 sensitive issues. I agree with you, for Dev, Sona's financial never mattered. But for Ishwari and GKB it matters a lot. Dev being Dev would have wanted to help Bose family financially. Just imagine if Ishwari/GKB would have known and confronted Dev, he would have told the truth that Sona told him about the financial problem and he tried to help. Now you can multiply the explosion which happened for the 5cr, the atomic bomb would have become hydrogen bomb! 😆
Regarding Ishwari, if Dev was aware of it, why didn't he take any corrective action? What is the point of opening up to Dev if he cannot take any action?

I loved the post on Dev, Sam. It's such a refreshing insight int his character and despite the fact that Dev's character has suffered severe blows, I think it's a remarkably well written character overall because of it's complexity of putting predictability and unpredictability in one equation. Of course, Shaheer softens up the character a lot and it helps that he is a total eye-candy.
All the analyses overall are so insightful and so wonderful to read through.

On a lighter note, don't worry he is son of Ishwari after all...any scratch of hurt for his blood ( Suhana) and his blood bearer (Sona) will make him insane seething "meri beti ki khushi keliye mein kuch bhi karoonga jaahe tho meri maa se dooriyan bhi"?😆 ... Ishwari might get the taste of her own medicine 😆

I didn't understand the interpretation here. Sonakshi was always aware of Dev's unwavering devotion to his mother. Reminded me of the movie Beta starring Anil Kapoor. So did she expect Dev to change overnight? Yes, his family showed their colours even during the wedding, so they could never withstand her 24/7. But, Sonakshi withstood Dev and Dev not able to withstand Sonakshi? Didn't get that. He tried his best, I would say, esp. with the 'jhoola' episode though he kept getting hurt all the time. It was Ishwari and Co. who turned out to be the villains in paradise, isn't it! 😊 Or are you implying that Dev never stood for Sonakshi? That's true because he was caught between the devil and the deep sea!! Compare Dev's devotion to Ishwari and Jotin's interpretation! Novel, isn't it? I guess it's how one perceives a particular situation. That's why I am keen that Saurabh's wife needs to walk in and start adding new dimensions to certain situations.

That would be a Creative triumph.

Rekha, I am also looking forward to ronita's settling in period at the Boses. She looked visibly uncomfortable already and like you said, she will add a new dimension to the situations

@jazw
Any marriage is like a Venn diagram. With the two circles being the partners and the 3rd circle being the rest of the world.

Dev and sona didnt have a great overlap between their own circles when they got married. However, what they discovered during their courtship is that when their circles do overlap the happiness they get was worth fighting for. If given time they would have worked out a great overlapping zone of happiness

Ishwari was a dominant part of the 3rd circle and her happiness had a miniscule overlap with Devakshi's happiness. That made things harder given that Bijoy also started pulling that circle farther from Devakshi's happiness

Dev and sonakshi didn't need anyone to defend them against the Dixits and Boses. Sonakshi used to ask Dev to stay out of matters in fact. Dev can only wear one hat at a time and expected the same from his wife. "Be mine and Eff the whole world"

It wasn't a sonakshi vs the Dixits and Dev vs The Boses war.
Hope this made sense
