Today's episode gave me major frustration...
If I didn't like Neha so much, I'd tell Sona to let her hang her happiness with the rope supplied by her mother, brother and husband.
But my irritation for Neha's situation is much more than my admiration for Neha.
Ishwari, I am not a mother. But I got an excellent mother who was also a single mother like you. I have also seen mothers who spoil their kids to win brownie points and mothers who always help their children make the right decision whether they have to say something their kids don't want to hear or not.
You, Ishwari, is the worst kind of parents. Every parent is different and each of them has their own parenting style. But there is something that is quite obvious that parents should never do and you did every single one of them.
- You differentiated between your children, not only when it came to opportunity but also when it came to love, care and attention.
- You played favourite even after your situation was improved and you were not even subtle about it.
- You manipulated your children using the other children. When Neha complained of your differentiation among kids, you made her shut up using Dev's money and when Dev was unhappy with your manipulation, you made him dance to your tune using Neha's grief. You used and continue to use your children as pawn to maintain your status as Goddess.
- When your children made mistakes because of your bad parenting, instead of admitting your mistake and let them know that their decision is wrong and they should not ruin their life because of your mistakes, you let them do as they please so that you don't have to feel guilty or admit what a shitty mother you are.
You claimed to know your daughter. But the only time you are around her is to assure her that you will do whatever she wants. But you never tried to find out what she wants.
Sona spent more time talking to Neha and asking her questions than you did.
I read a story a long time ago. They were probably Eashop's fables or Panchatantra.
Two boys each stole a pencil and bring it home. One mother scolded her child and forced him to return the pencil and admit his mistake, the other mother hid the evidence and let her son get away with it.
The punished boy asked his mother if the other boy's mother loves him more. The punished boy's mother says that he won't understand now. But he will understand who is more loved when he grows up.
Years later, the punished boy is a judge. One day he sees the boy who didn't get punished is accused of bank robbery and murder associated with the robbery. As per the evidence, the judge sentences the other boy in a lifetime imprisonment.
The boy who was not punished and now a robber, walks up to his mother who was crying and claiming that his son is innocent and slaps her hard. The mother is shocked. The robber says, Had you punished me when I stole the first pencil and didn't keep hiding my mistakes, I won't have been a criminal today. I could not be a decent man because you were a bad mother.
The judge then realised that which mother truly loved her son and who was a better mother.
Ishwari is like the robber's mother.
Moving on to Ranveer and Dev, the consequences of Dev's threat and the extent of damage was never more evident than today.
No one paid attention to the fact that Ranveer claimed that Dev threatened him with lawyer, but everyone got busy as usual to blame the scapegoat to try to make this marriage work.
Sona, you are right. Anyone entering this family needs month long orientation and a medical sanity test which neither you nor Ranveer got.
However Ranveer, you made me feel like giving you a slap today. I understand how upset you were with Dev. But you should not have been so rude to Sona. She was never rude to you. You could have asked Sona with respect that you don't want to be with Neha anymore. It was as simple as that.
But your behaviour today was disrespectful to a woman who always stood up for you. If someone had come to your bhabhi and talked to her like you talked to Sona, how would you have felt?
If after this Dev never let's you set foot in his house or anywhere his sister, I can't blame him. Yes, he started it by insulting you. But you finished it by insulting someone who was always respectful to you.
Neither of you are without fault. But Dev has never insulted your family.
Sona, today you finally came clean with Dev the pitfalls you have been facing and Dev understood. He realised how difficult it is to feel part of a family when you are constantly criticised for not knowing what you haven't been told and being sidelined in every important issue.
And you are right, not only you should have got your Dixit orientation on how NOT to be a family, but Dev should have got Bose orientation on how to be a family.
I'd say to you Sona that if you want to preserve your sanity, let them screw up their life. But if you want to help Neha, carry on with the task you have undertaken.
However, only stupid people work without any reward.
If you are undertaking this task and should you succeed in proving that you indeed know Neha more than Ishwari and Dev, make sure the entire family realize that without you, Neha would be unhappy forever. So from then onwards, they can't play our family and you outsider anymore nor can they ask you to mind your business.
If Dev is included in any decision, discussion or anything concerning him, his life, his family or his work, then you have to be included in all those times because you are his wife.
Next time, don't settle for less than your due. If you succeed then you will have your example of past to use in the future. All the best to you, you Royal Bengal Tigress!!!
P.S. The last scene between Dev and Sona, according to me, was the saving grace and mood lifter of the episode.
