Amazing post Tia.
There are certain things about Dixits that are unbelievably wrong and they fail to make amends for the same. For example:

None of the Dixits try to solve the problems, they ignore the problem until and unless it compels them to face it. And when they come to the point where the problem can't be ignored further, they try to get rid of it. For example: Neha ignored Ranveer's financial status till she could when she couldn't face it anymore, she sent a divorce notice. No effort from her side to solve their issues.

Dixits think that if there's a problem, then it can obviously be solved with money. Offer money and watch the world dance on your tunes. They do not understand the concept of sentiments, emotions and opinions. If they want this to happen this way then they will get it done this way, no other way. For example - Dev and his incessant tries to offer money to Ranveer. His main moto is to buy him and make him dance on Neha's tunes. He fails to see the sentiments behind Ranveer's behavior.

Dixits think talking about a problem to the one who has the problem is wrong. They discuss issues in hushed voices among themselves and pass verdicts. Healthy discussions and debates, taking different opinions and then coming to a conclusion is a concept lost on them.

I blame Ishwari and only Ishwari for inculcating such a mindset in her kid's mind. She has taught them the value of money and the value of their relationship. She forgot to teach them the value of other people's relationship. None of the kids care for someone else's sentiments. They're more like - Apna kaam ho raha hai na. Bas. We need nothing else.

Glad that you enjoyed Halloween as well 👏. Happy Diwaali and Halloween (bhoot chaturdoshi 😆) to you too dear 😳

I know that comfort zone you're talking about. These days she swallows some of her words/thoughts, today I watched the episode she was about to say she won't have joined work if her family were not suffering from financial crisis. Really ? And what was that Dev taking it casually ? 😕 As a friend he should be guiding her on why she even thinks of leaving job ! Never mind, when did he anyways think and talk sense in the matters concerning Sona 😊

And also, after watching the episodes, I came to know Dev thinks Ranveer never made any sacrifices. You said it rightly. So far all Dev's selfishness has got him awarded. Add to the list - Ranveer accepted Dev's proposal of joining a high-profile job without creating much drama, result - his compromise is forgotten 😃. Ranveer was very good in putting forth all his points. I always put my bets on Sona on speaking the much-needed facts, but not anymore. Now Ranveer is my last hope to ask Dev and Dixits the right question - Had it been Sona demanding this from Dev, what would have Dev done and what would have Dixit clan wanted him to do 😛

Please Ranveer, pretty please !!!!😭

Bold- Never happening. The characters in the show are very self centered. They talk about themselves, their sentiments, their pain, their hardships. Nobody gives a damn about the things happening with another character. And that is something really strange about this show 😆

I know everyone is blaming Sona for undergoing a personality change but here I feel she is actually being smart and mature.
What she is doing in my opinion is re-strategising and changing the approach plan though sub consciously. I don't think even she realises as yet what she is doing. It's just her gut feel and instinct that is working here.

One can be straightforward only with normal straightforward people. Vicky case served as a warning bell to Sonakshi as to the twisted way of thinking of these people and also that there is a huge difference between Dev the boyfriend and Dev the husband.

Jealousy also led to slipping of Ishwari's mask and Sona got a glimpse of not only the ugly human being inside her rbut also the hold she has on Dev.

Infinte patience is needed for dealing with a husband like Dev and Sona is showing that. One might say that she is losing herself in the process but the ultimate winner is going to be her if she continues. She is just a sensible woman trying to save her marriage.

I remember in the movie kora kagaaz there was a dialogue - tumhari maa samajhdar nahin thi isliye maine usse samajh liya.

The results of Sonakshis maturity will slowly become visible. Dev's trust on her is increasing and he has started standing up in her support in front of Neha and Mamiji. He is slowly discussing his problems more with sona and less with Ishwari.

But these changes take months to be clearly visible.

One day will also come when he will stand up to Ishwari for Sona. That will be the real breaking point and defeat for Ishwari as well as the biggest turning point of the story.

Ishwari identified this when she said that Sona is so good natured that Dev might one day love her more than me.

Absolutely. My issue with Dixit's have always been their double standard which grates on my equality and fairness craving soul like chalk on blackboard. They use their money and tragic past ruthlessly for their own selfish end. The reason I can no longer feel sympathy or empathy in their flashback scenes is that they yielded it to justify their wrong actions too many times.

Back when there past was coming out slowly, just like Sona I was also going Awww...

But now everytime they show flashback, I go, Here we go again.

It's like the fake alarm story. If it's used too many times, it loses its meaning.

I hope you are right. But I haven't seen the fire in Sona other than very short-lived occasional spark that was her nature before marriage.

She used to be very confident about speaking the truth as is at least to Dev. So much so that she was the only friend of his that he relied on. I don't know why that had to change after marriage.

It's not an arranged marriage where she is learning the people for the first time.

After all Dev fell in love with her as she was before marriage. She did not have to change herself. And he himself said that.

I hope you are right and she is re strategizing. Because so far it looks like she is just coping with the cards she was dealt with and not really being true to herself or anytime else for that matter.

Love the write-up ..especially the story that your mom told. I guess thats the reason one should atleast consider another's comment/criticism on what is happening inthe bag on one's back before dismissing it away!!
I am waiting for the day when Sona would call it out and tell in the presence of the entire family especially dev and eeshwari if she could also do exactly what neha is trying to do..that is insist on dev moving out with her ..away from his mom to another apartment.

Dev and eeshwari need to realize that a mother and chilld's relationship is pretty much the same in most of the cases, whether they r rich or poor, affluent or not.. And that they are not over and above any other mom -child relationship That Ranveer could love his mom as much as Dev does his or Sona does hers!
If anything Ishwari was a flawed mom who placed all her bets on the race horse ignoring the other horses in the stable cos she knew that the race horse would win and make it big one day to take care of the rest in the stable!

Thank you. Yes, you are right. Mother and child relationship is universal. Whether they go through tough time together or just have a happy life, it doesn't mean that should in future any tough time comes, they won't stand united.

Dev has seen poverty and he and his mother went through it. But so did Neha. But he never formed any bond with her beyond obligation nor Ishwari formed any bond with her beyond guilt. Why? Wasn't Neha Ishawari's daughter?

Because Ishwari is one of those mothers who actually differentiated among her children. She can give as many excuses as she wants, but it was very clear that while she gave Dev more opportunity, she didn't compensate Neha by giving her more love.

She also filtered Dev's relationship to everyone else through her. As a result, Dev can't do anything for his sisters, can't even help them without her permission. He never formed that easy bond that Elena and Sona or even Sona, Riya and Nikki share.

Ranveer is also living a lower middle class life with his family. It's not hard to imagine his bond with his family if only tough time create bonds. Then Dev should have no problem understanding his stand.

But as usual, the Dixits are behaving as if only Dev has a mother and only Ishwari has a son in the world and only they went through tough times. No one else has parents they love or has strong bond with or no one else goes through rough times.

sona changed because Dev changed. After marriage he immediately went to Husband mode pepped up by Ishwari and GKB.

Yes Sona is missing the spark because when you do something which goes against your very nature you tend to become slightly repressed.

But this is what is known as adjusting in a new and hostile environment till the same becomes conducive to you. Problem here is she is the only one doing the entire adjusting while Dev is turning a blind eye to her constantly hesitant expression and worried eyes. He is only hearing what she actually says.

But Sonakshi is the one who will ultimately enjoy the fruits of her sacrifices . She is slowly becoming the cool sweet and refreshing Roohafza while Ishwari continues to be the bitter hot acidity inducing Kadha.

When one has a partner who gives you love, patience and positivity, one would slowly drift apart from a mother who can only gives you guilt trips and keeps on dredging the painful past.

What Ishwari has made her whip for keeping Dev in line will slowly become her greatest weakness and cause of defeat.

I hope what you are saying is right. I hope Sona is using her brain to play this game of thrones, so to speak for the ultimate prize and not just been crushed beyond repair. I can watch an straight forward woman turn cunning to achieve her goal. But I can't watch a strong woman broken beyond recognition because her spirit is crushed. It's just beyond my tolerance.

Even I will stop watching the show if Sona becomes a doormat. I am there till I have hope that we have an educated self respecting heroine and a realistic modern story which is a reflection of the ways things progress in families where the mother is a bit too power hungry and controlling

Gopi Bahu is not for me.
