Wonderfully written post with great insight into the problem. The sooner Sona realises that she is the unwanted Bahu for Iswari the better for her. Rather she can concentrate on your profession and spend as little time as possible at home. But once I want Sona to confront Mamaji why he is so indifferent in Vicky issue. If he wants he can surely make Iswari GKB and Vicky shut up and listen to Dev. I hope Dev will dictate terms rather than succumb to pressures.

i dont understand how long sona plans to not go to work. These serial
bahus really irritate me. most of us are not at all like sona. in fact v pressurize hub
to go for movie, shopping, luncheon honeymoon etc. why cant they show a normal
husband wife ever on tv. why does it always has to be 'my mil comes first and let my husbanb be damn'.
first set up relationship strongly with ur husband. no need to make anyone else happy and
definitely no need to get insulted time & again unnecessarily. and no need to meddle
in others affairs. for once show how people normally are in life.

I think this some seriously awesome advice I have ever read. Perfection and sensibility at its best! Some of the points had me grinning but at the same time the truth of those points struck a cord in my heart.
Excellently penned.!

Perfect perfect post !

Well this certainly resonates with my own life as a new DIL 12 years ago. And I am so glad that there are many who went through the same grind like me. And my MIL is still the same even now when she visits us. She wants to run my kitchen, cook her choice of meals for her son, have a say in what gifts we send back with her for my SIL and her kids etc. It took me a number of years to learn to let her do what she wants for those couple of months if it means eternal peace of mind. I normally work from home but when she comes visiting, I make it a point to go to office every single day so that I have to interact very little with her. This pleases her and makes her feel like a boss and gives me a chance to get out of the rut.

Coming back to Sonakshi, I hate the fact that she struts about in those silk sarees trying to please her in-laws who don't even care two hoots about her, except of course for Mamaji. Even if she is taking a break for a couple of weeks, she need not get out of her room and try to interfere in anybody's life, unless somebody reaches out to her. I did not find anything wrong with her advising Dev about taking in Vicky as a trainee. Here it is Dev's fault that he went around publicizing that fact. Rest of the family she should just ignore.

Its high time, Dev starts taking a stand for Sonakshi in front of Ishwari. He can politely tell Ishwari that what Sonakshi suggested was exactly what he had done when Rhea wanted to work and there is a lot of difference between a peon and a trainee. In fact, he should call Vicky and the rest of the family and ask Vicky what role he was given and then justify to them why Vicky needed to learn before he could handle any post. In fact if so much happened in the office, Rhea would probably know and she can pitch in and support Dev though I feel sad that someone like Dev should justify to 2 illiterate women on the decisions pertaining to his business that he has taken.

Big fat YES to every one of your points! It's icing on the cake that this heartfelt post comes from your own experiences. I watch this show with my mom and she too faced a hostile/passive aggressive MIL situation for 30 years. Sometimes she goes totally speechless watching because she says it's way too close to home, from the way Sona's trying too hard to fit a square peg into a round hole to the way Ishwari indulges in her special brand of exclusion.

I think the piece of the puzzle that Sona is missing is a genuine trust in Dev. Whatever she says, I don't think she's totally over the breakup yet, and she's trying to singlehandedly "fix" everything before she completely relinquishes control and gives into her love. At least that's my theory for why she hasn't been as gung-ho as Dev on the whole suhaag raat issue. On the one hand, I can't blame her for this mistrust (like father like daughter) but failing to address it, trying to keep her feelings in check and take care of the practical concerns first, she's creating a ticking time bomb of uncontrollable feelings a la Ritwick engagement fiasco! And if rumours are to be believed, it will burst soon in the measiest way 😕
