I wrote a long angry rant and it got deleted and had to write again.
Malvika, you just wrote everything that was on my mind.Baffled, frustrated and irritated seems to be my constant state of mind while watching this show these days. What are the writers trying to show? In the initial episodes, Dev used to realise his mistakes and make up for it. This Dev? Clueless and helpless with a woe is me attitude. Not thinking about anything beyond his pain earlier and now not thinking at all.I can't believe he actually asked Sona why she doesn't accept the proposal when his mother is asking ,in yesterday's epi. Is Sonakshi marrying him or his mother?
So basically his so called passion and love reawakens with a bottle of scotch and on seeing his favorite plaything with another person. He forgot everything that happened as soon as he gets permission from mommy and runs to Sona with the world's most romantic proposal ever
No sorry, I created a scene at your engagement, no sorry I hurt you , no sorry I broke your trust.Simple maa has approved, lets ride into the sunset now😕 His guilt lasted for barely a few minutes and disappeared as soon as his mommy approves.First he didn't try to fight for his love in front of his mom, now he is not trying, hell not even thinking about trying to woo his lady love, forget about introspect and redeem himself.
Sonakshi very clearly told Dev the problem, her expectations but now she is suddenly shown as a person who is using her parents as an excuse and not the real reason. That is just driving a lot of viewers to sympathize with Dev as she comes across as a confused person who is unsure about what she wants.
And now if they show Sonakshi accepting the proposal due to Ishwari's emotional blackmail, then she will end up being the ideal good girl as is shown in every other show.If the writers just want them to marry and Sona to fix Ishwari, then how is this show any different?

The thing that irritated me the most was, he didn't even think for one second why his mother suddenly approves of his relationship. He couldn't put 2+2 together that he must have done something in his drunken stupor that made Mommy realize that he's unhappy. Like seriously, how dumb do the makers intend to show him? As soon as the words were out of Mommy's mouth "Go make Sonakshi my bahu" he was over the moon. Now he doesn't understand why Sonakshi can''t get onboard the happy train. According to him, now that Maa's also asking Sonakshi to agree, then it's her obligation to do so. "Toh fir maan kyu nai jati tum?" that sentence keeps reverberating in my head. It was such a facepalm moment. He just doesn't understand that he has inflicted pain on her that is beyond repair. I didn't see love between them yesterday. All I saw was two people who are so lost, I doubt if they can ever find their way back to each other. One is lost in his mother's devotion and the other one doesn't want to face the situation she's in. As a viewer, it's getting tiring now. To keep up with their changing or in Dev's case, unchanging emotions.
Never have I been this disappointed with the treatment of characters of any show. Not even Shaheer can salvage Dev for me now.

True, its like for a kid when mommy waves candies in front of him and he forgets everything and go backs to dreamland. He is coming across as brainless and dumb truly.

I didn't even want to think about it after yesterday. How stupid can the writers show him in the name of bad upbringing

It would be better if they take some much needed time to sort out their thoughts and feelings instead of blindly rushing into marriage. No relationship will prosper without that.Love has somewhere taken a backseat among all these conflicts and drama. What is the meaning of love for the writers? Roses, gifts and sweet words?

I keep watching in hopes of seeing some maturity in characters but end up being disappointed.Where is this story heading?😕

This is exactly that is annoying me... He actually asked that.. thinking Mom is a magic wand that will make everything go away. Also, Ishwari kept harping... how she is sorry for all the mistakes Dev has made... How about someone reminding her... she called their love 2 minute noodles...

I want to Dev and wake him up... Shake him... and get him to smell the coffee.

Like Dude... Seriously... "Toh fir maan kyu nai jati tum?"

And if Sona Agrees it would her turn to

Hence proving himself the 8 year old his mother sees him as.Mommy will make all problems go away.He will sit back and sulk.

Oh she doesn't even realise that she was wrong in thinking that way because Dev has repeatedly proved to her that Sonakshi is not worth fighting for, or even have a conversation about. He has supported her thinking about Sona being a "zid" and a toy by never standing up for their love when it was questioned by Ishwari.

I want to Dev and wake him up... Shake him... and get him to smell the coffee.

I will join you😳

And if Sona Agrees it would her turn to
It will turn her into a bechari abla nari with no life outside of Dev, ideal good girl, selfless sanskari bahu(head bang)

Words don't seem to be getting to them... They have the Gajni syndrome... So this is the best... I am dreading if Sona says yes to Ishwari's blackmail... I so want Dev to act like a man and face her parents, apologize before she says anything...

Else the entire essence is lost... so lost...

That is exactly what his Mom is to him. A magic wand. Remember, Maa Bhagwan hai. And once God has made an announcement how dare any disciple( read: Sonakshi) dare to disobey her command. He is going to drive me crazy someday.

Sonakshi is also being potrayed as lost these days. I don't understand where the makers intend to go with this. It's beyond frustrating now.

I just got back from watching a late night film and against my better judgement caught today's episode.

What is going on in the minds of the makers? Why are they showing the hero so weak? She said no and all he does is look defeated and moisten his eyes. Even if he does not introspect on the reasons why is he not even determined to win her over?

His mother seems to be more determined and willing to romance Sona!!

And just to shift sympathy to the Dixit camp they made Sona suddenly callous in her engagement (inviting him, staring at him, dropping him home when he was drunk as though it was a calamity even though people get drunk every friday night, dumping Ritwik so badly etc. ) and Bijoy so crude in his behaviour with a composed Ish today. To add to that why does Sona who is rejecting the alliance have to visit Dev to tell him she is rejecting him???

It's like she is visiting him with some hope that he will stop her and woo her but all he does is look defeated, listen to her taunts and moisten his eyes...

I've given up on trying to make sense of this show now. Dev fell in my eyes in day before yesterday's episode. Happily skipping to Sonakshi's office without an iota of guilt or introspection was totally not expected. Just 10 mins back he was feeling ashamed of his behavior and as soon as Mommy said yes, everything vanished. It was as if he forgot what conspired the previous night.
Then comes yesterday. His totally giving up on trying to woo Sonakshi, forget about introspection or redemption. He doesn't even want to try to win her back. All of this makes me come to one conclusion. He doesn't mind being apart from Sonakshi, as long as she doesn't move on. The moment someone else comes into the picture, all hell breaks lose again.
I somehow don't even blame Ishwari after this. She is right in thinking of Dev's love as a zidd for a toy. Coz that's exactly what Sonakshi is to him. A toy. As long as the toy is sitting in the corner, untouched by anyone else, he is ok. As soon as another child expresses a desire in the toy, he loses his shit and throws tantrums, screams, cries, yells, breaks things till the other child gives up on the toy. Sonakshi is his property. "You are mine" were the words he used. He actually means them. He doesn't give two hoots about her feelings, her guilt, her emotions. Her family is not even a part of the equation according to him. Talk about butchering a character. I remember in the initial episodes, Dev used to hurt Sonakshi, but he immediately realized his mistakes, mostly without Ishwari's proding, and would apologize or make it up to her. With flowers, heart felt notes, trips to her house and what not. Where is that Dev Dixit?
The CVs are taking Sonakshi's character for a ride as well. Her total and utter confusion about what she wants is baffling. I thought she was quite clear that she wants to marry Dev, the man and not Dev, Ishwari's son. But now, even I have my doubts as to what she wants. If Bijoy is ok with their alliance, will she forget everything else and rush back into Dev's waiting arms?
I don't feel Ishwari is wrong now. If Dev can't fight for his love and keeps behaving in this manner, she isn't wrong to assume that his wanting Sonakshi is akin to wanting a toy.
They are trying to make the audience sympathize with Dev and Ishwari by making Bijoy and Sona shout on them. Wow. What a way to redemption.
Dev's defeated "Toh fir maan kyu nai jaati tum?" extinguished all my hopes of a redemption.

Sorry for the long-ass reply. I have not been commenting on any posts and seeing your reply, I just couldn't stop myself.

Have you seen the segments that aired today? Erica in one of her interviews says exactly this - Sona was not ok earlier as her parents were not, now that parents are ok, she is fine too.

Need I say anything further?????????

Today's segments have made super confused. So many segments with different bytes to share. There was one where Erica says that she will convince her parents herself and all will be well. That means they haven't agreed. But then again yes, what was the purpose of showing her saying those words in her office if ultimately she will be the doing all the work without Dev lifting a finger.
