Hi guys, Please bear with me on this post. So I don't want to discuss how the episode was or who was right/wrong. After watching yesterday's last scene where Elena bashes Dev and Sonakshi stands numb, I thought of one scene which I really feel they should incorporate.
Shaheer and Erica, as actors, have different strengths. Shaheer is very good at intense scenes and scenes which convey passion and emotions. His eyes do the talking. But where subtlety is concerned, Erica takes the cake. Specially in yesterday's scene. She nailed it. She looked like a girl who is tired of fighting with fate, and has resigned herself to misery. Erica potrays sadness, hurt, guilt and a mixture of all that to the T. The makers can use the actor's strengths to their advantage.
Now, I want a scene where Dev comes to meet Sonakshi and she just stands there as he tries to make her understand. Pleads with her to understand that he didnt intend to ruin her engagement, whereas Sonakshi doesn't react but just stares at him numbly. I trust the actors to do complete justice to this scene. Dev trying to convince Sona, his eyes pleading, hers vacant. I don't think anything will affect Dev more than seeing Sonakshi like this. She doesn't know what to say, or how to react. She is so tired of disappointing everyone in her life, including herself. She is guilt ridden over disappointing her parents, breaking ritwik's heart, making such a mess of everything. In between all this, she has accepted one cold harsh truth. She loves Dev. Despite all his flaws, shortcomings and everything else. She loves this man. She is not going to try to deny it - She owes Ritwik atleast that. But at the same time, she can't stand disappointing her parents. Somewhere, she even understands why Dev broke up the way he did. Panic over disappointing your parents can sometimes drive you to take monumentally bad decisions. She knows that now. So she doesn't react. She doesn't know how to.
I had mentioned in one of my previous posts that there might be something that makes Dev introspect. THIS can be that something. Nothing disturbs Dev more than Sonakshi's silence. He can take her yelling, her accusations, her bleeding him dry. But he cannot take her silence. We saw that when Sonakshi went home during Dev's refusal to disclose his relationship to Mommy. We saw how restless he becomes when she refuses to respond, to give any sort of reaction to him. Seeing his Sonakshi like this, knowing he is the reason for her state, can really make Dev grasp the gravity of the situation. He can remember this face in the years to come, when he is again caught between his devotion to Mommy and love for Sonakshi. This might propel him to take a stand, without seeking alcohol for strength.
But alas, I doubt this would happen. As far as we know, tomorrow Ish will approve, then comes the trip to Sonakshi's office. This was just wishful thinking on my part.
