Sonakshi is the first one to acknowledge her feelings like Paro in Devdas. Dev's mother, Ishwari thinks that Dev deserves the best girl. She won't approve of Sonakshi as his bride. Just like Devdas' parents look down upon Paro's family and turn their proposal down. I think Neha will help bring Dev and Sonakshi together because she understands this mother-son equation better than anyone. Her character will be similar to Chandramukhi in Devdas, who makes him realize that he lost Paro only because of his cowardice. But I am sure this Dev Dixit won't be suicidal like Devdas and most probably this story will have a happy ending.

Yeah they will definitely have a more modern take on the classic I feel. Mami i think will be instrumental in making Dev realize that he needs Sonakshi in his life for himself and not for his mother. Neha on the other hand might help him get over his mom hurdle.

To be honest, I will be disappointed if they turn Dev into a suicidal escapist. He is shown as a responsible guy and not a brat born with silver spoon.
