Oh..I didn't mean to say that ARM said anything "bad" about Surya or I don't think I said something out of context, as far as his interview goes.

"Tailor made" and "tried to fit" is the best translation I could come up with.

Like I said, personally I don't care what ARM has to say about these two. I like them both, a lot.

While it is clearly "understandable" that ARM is so totally excited about working with Aamir, there was no reason to give the Professor/Student example. May be like he said in the interview, Surya and himself are already aware of that, but to say it so publicly will not be appreciated by most Surya fans/ and in general, not good for his image. Esp it will not be appreciated by fans, who don't know how big Aamir is!

Most of the directors/actors/actresses, give very "slippery" answers when such comparison questions pop up, now and then. No one says it, so openly - this is definitely new!

if mr murgadoss is so excited to work with aamir then he could have just praised aamir's previous works like lagaan, mangal pandey or even ghulam. there was absolutely NO need for him to compare surya & aamir.

both these actors are powerful performers in their own ways. it's unfair to make a remark that aamir is a professor while surya is a student when it came to the role. i think surya's acting capabilities is on par with aamir's so where's the need for murgadoss to open his big mouth & compare these 2 actors?

it doesn't paint a good picture about murgadoss's character if you ask me. when he did the tamil version of 'ghajini', it was all about surya. now when he goes to bollywood, it's aamir who is made for the role.

murgadoss seems to be so fond of bollywood actors. who knows? he might remake 'Ramana' in hindi maybe with aamir again the lead and give an interview to another magazine saying how aamir was 'tailor-made' for the role of professor ramana and how vijayakanth is just a student while aamir is a professor. i'm sure VK's supporters would lovingly 'welcome' murgadoss back to TN if this ever happens in reality.😉😆😆

If she is married, who's the guy? An Actor or director??

She is married, and is the mother of two kids-can you possibly believe that? While watching the Neeye neeye song from M kumaran, my father who had until then understood that she is Ravi's sister was shocked when he heard the lines talking abt 'in my next life, I need you as my mother'

wow..wow...many hot discussions here about ARM and Surya. I donno wherever it was good thing of ARM to compare Aamir and Surya…but he should not forget it was Surya who was willing to do his project after other heroes rejected it. Have u guys seen Koffee with Anu with both of them as guest? Both of them were cool with each other.

thank you for the little snippets about VA cinemalover. it's really sad that this film is facing one trouble after another. the latest being the possibilty of ramya being banned from kollywood. actually i read in a magazine some time before that ramya was supposed to banned from kollywood a long time ago.

i hope sarathkumar lets ramya complete this film before they shut her out of kollywood. if not the whole film would go to waste.

cinemalover, any latest news on this matter? has sarathkumar spoken about his decision yet?

meli.. murgadoss seems to be rather two-faced. that's why i don't really like him. he acts in a different way towards surya when he's in front of him but behind his back he gives such crap comments about surya. whatever it is, i just hope murgadoss stays in bollywood & doesn't come back. most of his films are rip-offs from hollywood anyway.

CL, Leena's words were 'the magic that Jo weaved on the audience'. Nobody said Mozhi was a hit because of Jo. On what basis could ahve they marketed Mozhi tht it became a huge hit? A hit director? A multi starrer? Prithviraj was no famous hero then;nor was the Prakash Raj-Prithvi combo known before. The only things that Mozhi had to talk abt was that its the movie Jo last acted in, and all articles and news abt it said' The mvoie has Jyothika's best performance ever'.I still say, as a viewer, that Mozhi's success was its script, ably assisted by the performances. Leena's words simply meant that If Asin had done Jo's role, it wouldn't have been half as good. Now you can contradict me on grammar basis, and word by word meaning of Leena's sentence, but I'm sure Leena's no fool to say Jo was the reason the movie became the hit.

Something else tht I fail to understand-you said on another topic that a movie with Rajni puts the actress on top; I wonder why Jo wasn't on top in 2005 , with the movie as a huge hit + a performance which was equally applauded as much as it was criticised

{/QUOTE]

Dits, this is not a response but a follow-up with what you said. Let's assume that CL is right, that the film became a hit because Prakashraj released it as soon as India crashed out of cricket, and people did not have anything else to do so they went to see Mozhi and made it a hit. But people are not stupid. A badly-made film would have been a flop regardless of when it was released. A turkey is a turkey will be a turkey no matter how you dress it up or how you pass it off.

I loved everything about Mozhi. The script, the songs, the subtle humour, the interaction between the different characters. Hand on heart though....when you think of Mozhi, whose acting stands out? Privithiraj's? Swarnamalya's? Prakashraj's? It is Jo's. With her eyes and facial expressions, her gestures...without saying a word,, she managed to convey so many different messages - the hurt, the anger, the suspicion, the wariness and the cheekiness. In my opinion, Mozhi was a hit (I am not talking from the commercial aspect but purely from the viewpoint of a Tamil cinema fan) because of Jo. People went to see Mozhi because they heard how well Jo did in it. So I am saying: Mozhi became the talk of the town because of Jo. Everything else about the film worked, but Jo's acting made it stand out. Just as Ghajini was Surya's film, Mozhi was Jo's. After watching Mozhi, I really felt sad that it was her swansong. It's like she saved her best for last.

Jiggs, that sentence about Jo weaving her magic on the audience is spot-on. 👏Unfortunately, although Mozhi was Jo's swan song, it wasn't the last film that was released. That dubious honour goes to that turkey called Manikanda. AAARRGGHHHH!!! 😆

P/S: I also have to commend M.S. Bhaskar, who was just superb. (Now CL is probably going to say Mozhi was a hit because of MSB. 😆). By the way, did you all know that MSB can really sing, especially TMS' songs?

manikanda was horrid karthikka. it was really bad luck that manikanda had to be released after mozhi. however i think jothika looked hot in manikanda.😛 i liked some of the tops she wore in that film. whatever it is, i don't count manikanda as jo's swansong. it was mozhi that was her swansong & man.. what an awesome swansong it was!👏

i'm not a big jothika fan nor do i love her like i love my sada but still in mozhi, she held me spellbound. i like the scene where prthiviraj asks her if she has ever missed anyone in her life & she gives this litte sad shake of her head to say 'no'.👏👏 the scene where she cries out after prithiviraj storms out of her room after telling her he won't bother her.. aww.. it was so heartrending!😭👏👏 ooh.. and the cutest scene has to be one where she expresses her love for prithviraj outside the church.😳😳 jothika does well in author backed roles & she's one actress who hasn't let me down with her last few performances.

i forgot to mention.. i really really liked jothika in Pachai Killi Muthucharam too. that role was unique & jo did well especially in her interactions with sarathkumar on the train.

my favourite performances of jothika would be

- khushi (she overracted in the film but still not many can do sponatenous expressions like her),

- thirumalai (she was quite sweet in this film, acted pretty well & looked good too)

- snegithiye (i liked her tomboyish role & the way she rides a bike.. soo cool!)

- perazhagan (the performance as the poor blind girl who falls in love with the deformed surya character was really endearing)

- kakka kakka (maya was a different bold character. no overracting here by jothika. she was good!)

- vettaiyadu vellaiyadu (she was so subtle & beautiful in this film.)

- pachaikilli muthucharam (innocent sweetipie in the first half, cruel mean villi in the 2nd half. lots of shades to portray & jo was awesome in this film)

- mozhi (her best performance to date. archana remains etched in my heart till now.)

in short jothika is one actress i never fail to miss despite she not being my favourite.😛

to those who want to contradict me by saying most of the films i mentioned were hits not because of jothika or jothika is a mediocre actress.. please please DON'T bother. i find her to be one of the best kollywood actresses & my opinion cannot be deterred by facts or statistics. my liking for jothika as an actress cannot be measured by facts or statistics.

some people connect with an actress despite she being 'flawed'. some just don't. period.😊
