Television hottie Ejaz Khan (of 'Kavyanjali' and 'Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka' fame), who was earlier seen in films 'Zameen' and 'Kuch Naa Kaho' before he made it big on the small-screen, has now signed a film opposite Mandira Bedi in 'Mirabai Not Out'.
"Honestly, I had never even dreamt that I would be an actor in the first place. After making my mark on TV, thanks to Ektaa Kapoor, I'm now shooting for this Chandrakant Kulkarni directorial," say Ejaz.
Interestingly, while Mandira is cast as a cricket-crazy fan, Ejaz plays someone who dislikes cricket. "Yes, that's right. I play Dr Arjun Avasthi, who is disinterested in cricket. It's a gripping track which has a romantic angle." He adds, "Even off-screen I hate cricket and prefer to play and watch all other games like hockey, basketball and swimming. So this role seems tailor-made for me," says Ejaz, who hit it off with Mandira from day one. "Besides being a wonderful person, Mandira is a fantastic actor to work with. She will surely impress audiences with her deglam looks as Mirabai in certain portions of the movie," assures the star, who has not been signing on more TV shows post 'Nimmo'.
Is Ejaz, who few believe bears a resemblance to Shashi Kapoor, pursuing films aggressively now? "Being compared to the handsome Shashi Kapoor is an honour. In fact, several of my fans feel so and so does my dad." He adds, "Presently, I'm doing only one film. It's not that I am shunning TV. Since I'm a Balaji actor, I am open to their offers."
Though he's said to be very close to Anita, his 'Kavyanjali' co-actor Ejaz is undecided about their marriage plans. "I have never planned anything in my life. Destiny does it for me. So I don't know when my marriage will take place - next year, next month or even this weekend! Life should also have some suspense," he signs off with an impish smile.
