PNC's Meerabai Not Out is 50 per cent complete By Johnny Vaz (10 January, 2007) |
MUMBAI: The shooting of Pritish Nandy Communications' Meerabai Not Out, which features cricketer Anil Kumble in a cameo, is half complete. The film stars Mandira Bedi in the title role, along with Anupam Kher, Mahesh Manjrekar and television actor Eijaz Khan. Meerabai Not Out is directed by award winning Marathi director Chandrakant Kulkarni. Mandira's husband, Raj Kaushal, who last directed Anthony Kaun Hai?, is the line producer of the film. "The movie went on the floors on 24 December 2006 in Mumbai," says Kaushal. "Meerabai Not Out is all about cricket and the story revolves around an avid cricket fan played by Mandira. Since the film is planned to coincide with the forthcoming World Cup, we are planning to complete the shooting by the end of January." |
Eijaz-Anita, hunting for a house... Together?
Check out the passion and the sizzle in these images. They beat even the Hrithik-Aishwarya one in Dhoom 2 hollow... and why not? While that one was for the cameras only, this is for real. We have on authoritative record that the Eijaz Khan and Anita Hasnandani are getting married soon and are currently finalizing the deal for their new home in Andheri, a suburb of Mumbai. We have on authoritative record that the Eijaz Khan and Anita Hasnandani are getting married soon and are currently finalizing the deal for their new home in Andheri, a suburb of Mumbai. Know more...
Eijaz aka Kunal of Kya Hoga Nimmo Kaa is currently stays at Powai and Anita aka Anjali of Kavyanjali stays at Bandra.
After doing Kavyanjali (Kavya-Eijaz, Anjali-Anita) the couple is said to have started seeing each other. However both of them have been denying it for long. The serial got them huge popularity. The show went off air last year in September. But their chemistry is still flourishing off screen. Recently both of them went to Bali with Ekta Kapoor for her New Year's Eve party. Anita and Eijaz won Best Couple of the Year at Indian Telly awards in 2005 and Best Jodi Award at Star Parivar in 2006.
Earlier Anita had done movies like Koi Aap Sa, Silsilay, Nenunnanu, Krishna Cottage, Ninney Ishta Paddaanu, Yeh Dil, Kucch To Hai, and Bandhan. Kavyanjali was Anita's first serial.
Eijaz had also done an item number for a movie called 'Zameer'--Dilli Ki Sardi and another song called 'Tujhe Aaj Maine Jo Dekha' with Aishwarya and Abhishek in Kuch Na Kaho. Further he also did a small role in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. He has also done many music videos and commercials. Kahiin To Hoga was his first serial in which he used to play the character of Varun. Eijaz has also done stunts for films like Rog, Mela, and for Ghatak.
He has done several serials with Balaji -- Koi Dil Main Hai, Kesar, Kkusum, and Kavyanjali. Currently, his Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka is on air in which he plays the central character called Kunal.
Eijaz is said to be doing Balaji's serial for Dubai Television in which he will once again play the lead role.
The two are doing Megha Gulzar's 'Just Married' in which they are playing couple on screen as well.
Anita plans to work in Summer
"It is just a guest appearance for both of us," says Anita, smiling. "When we were approached for the song, Kkavyanjali was on air and a big hit. We agreed because the song and the whole situation were nice."
Nice way to avoid the question!
"I am currently taking a break," continues Anita. "For the last three years I have been constantly working. It's high time I took a break. I am enjoying spending quality time with my family and watching movies every Friday!"
Anita plans to return to work in summer
TV actor Eijaz Khan has always been different from the brood. Earlier this week he proved it when he took a couple of days off from his hectic schedule at Balaji Telefilms to share the platform in Goa with eminent politicians, including Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane.
"It was a youth festival organised by a friend, Sachin Parag, and I gave my first public speech," said Ejaz shyly. "I guess we, who have a known name, need to use it to make a difference to the society. And yes, I'm certainly not averse to getting into politics," Eijaz told IANS.
But the young actor is wary of joining any political party.
"Because then you become too closely affiliated to that party's ideologies. I'd rather have the freedom to address issues that concern me - like AIDS.
"I hate to say this, but even today I've friends who don't use condoms reasoning there's no need for one. How can we change the mindset at the grassroots when it's so unreasonable at the higher levels?"
Eijaz is cool about the idea of politics. But what about the politics on the sets of his serials?
Sanjeeda, his "Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka" co-star, continues to talk about her aversion to any kind of conversation with Eijaz.
"Has she really spoken about it again? I don't even know who she is beyond the camera. I've stopped interacting with those who think my suggestions to better a scene are a form of interference. Earlier, I'd go all out to make sure the scenes are as finely executed as possible. Then I realised some co-stars took my suggestions as a personal insult.
"Now I save my suggestions for those who actually want to listen to me without finding me intrusive. As for this lady you're talking about, I only know her as someone to share camera space with."
Is it possible for two people to work so closely for months without any personal interaction?
"Why not?" Eijaz shot back. "Balaji Telefilms is filled with instances of co-stars who are at loggerheads and their serials have been grabbing TRPs for years. On camera chemistry has nothing to do with what you feel about your co-star once it is switched off."
Eijaz Khan's Khwahish is fulfilled! | ||
Finally Balaji has shown the green signal for its ambitious project that would see Eijaz Khan playing the lead. Titled Khwahish, the show would be a story told against a muslim backdrop. With this project, Balaji would target the Urdu speaking audiences in Dubai, Pakistan and India. It would be apt to mention here that Balaji serials are amongst the most watched in these regions.
Nivedita Basu, Creative Director of the show accepts, "The shoot of Khwahish has commenced today." Adds another creative on the show, "We will be completing some scenes in Mumbai and the rest of the show would be entirely shot in Dubai. Eijaz would be shooting his first sequence on the 17th of this month." Eijaz on his part maintains, "I can't talk about the show since I have not shot for it at the moment. For me things start the day I will shoot, till then it will be untimely to talk about it." Making programmes specifically for audiences abroad seems to be a new trend that is catching up with our producers. Earlier it was B.A.G films that is doing a show for the audiences abroad. Does it sound the coming-in of a new age programming in tellydom? We guess it does! |
